• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    hey magicman how bout apes

Actually it all depends on how you position the apes that make them uncomfortable. The ones whose hands are over the head or the one who give them just a slight forward tilt would be too much for me. But when you lay them back towards you they can actually be quite comfortable. It's all a matter...

Need your input on NMN 4" risers?

That would be effgjamis. He left just enough to mount any future additions. I really doesn't look bad and is really only noticeable if you're looking for it. You could also consider a clutch cover ram mount, that's how I've mounted my GPS.

    hey magicman how bout apes

I've never used apes that put my hands above my head. But like I said if you've got them on a bike and are doing a long ride it's very nice to be able to lean the bars back towards you. Especially if you've got a back rest or a bag behind you. You can really settle in and get comfortable...

    hey magicman how bout apes

It's not that they don't allow them, they simply restrict the height of them. For example Florida says your hands can't be above your shoulders. If you've never ridden with apes I wouldn't go insulting them. When within reason they don't affect your ability to control a motorcycle and in fact on...

    Ask the BRP/Spyder Engineers Questions

:agree:+1, I think that would be a popular accessory. I change the sprockets on every chain drive bike I've owned for optimum cruising. I'm also interested in hearing an engineers input on some of the steering issues that are occurring. Most directly mine has begun to occasionally lock in a...

    Registered for a road test

I did a demo at Daytona in March 2008, no pressure to purchase. Actually a really well run event. Even though the Spyder was still fairly new there were plenty of owners there who gave advice and I'm sure there will probably be Spyder owners at the event you go to. Mulling it over isn't a bad...

    Florida Small Game

I go diving in Plenty of Florida lakes. Gators are just something we learn to live with. Personally it's the wild hogs and black bears where I live that worry me more. Not at all uncommon to have a wild dog dart out in front of you when riding at night.

    Sturgis

Nope, it's on my list of thing to do. But this year I'm riding to Ohio over Labor day weekend for my family reunion.

    Sturgis

They just did a segment on Sturgis on Superbikes. Way more friendly to different makes of bikes now. Of course the typical Harley owner as changed over the years as well. I've owned a couple HD's and think of myself as a pretty nice guy.

How fast can Spyder really take a curve? Fess up.

It's hard to form a general opinion of how fast you can take turns when every road and riding condition is different. In general I'm hitting turns at least 10 mph faster than I do when riding 2 wheels. From time to time you will lift a front tire, I've got one turn that I do this in just about...

BRP's chat - What a waste of my time

I wonder how much of that is actually BRP's fault and how much is the individual dealers. I've never had to wait more than 4 - 5 days on a part from my dealer and things like the oil filter and even the infamous deteriorating exhaust gasket have always been in stock.

    nmn risers update

Check out Dennis Kirk or JP Cycles online. You'll find plenty of a selection, just make sure you buy grips for 7/8 bars.

Is it windshield v. full face helmet????

I never had a problem with buffeting and a full face shield. For me I like the full face more than any other helmet. I can't stand the wind in my ears without a helmet or with half helmets or beanies.

    Spyder trouble! VSS fault!

My Harley's didn't give me half the trouble that my Spyder has, the reliability issues with Harley died a long time ago. As for the Spyder and the VSS if it's not the relays than check your battery. I got the VSS fault along with numerous other faults when my battery was corroded and I also...

    pics

And here I was hoping you wouldn't like them so I could get me a deal like the footpegs you didn't like. :D Looks like I'm finally convinced, I'll have to get me a set. So no problems with the 1" riser and the NMN 3" risers huh?

"Girl" needs help with negotiating pricing

welcome I hear that Ride Now in Ocala is a good dealer to look at, not local but not that far from you. I paid $15,400 in Ft. Myers when I bought my SM5. My suggestion would be to call around and get some pricing from other Florida dealers, then you'll know exactly where you stand.

    risers?

Take a look around the airbox snorkel. When I had my side panels off I noticed that my throttle cable was on the inside of the snorkel. If it goes to the outside it gives you more slack.

    Tax Break?

Yep it's eligible. Go to the Spyderryders website. BRP put up some info about it.

    1st 600 Mile Service

Well the dealer should be following the BRP recommended service which is outlined in your owners manual. Most people are going to pay different prices for these services because individual dealerships all have different labor charges.
