• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone with DESS removed/disabled on a 2022 RT?

Before I went on a long trip last year on my 2020 RTL I needed a new rear tire. I went down to LaMonsters for the tire and while I was there I went ahead and had the DESS disabled. I was going into some remote areas on my trip and while I had no prior issues with it, I decided it would be one...

Moving to a 2020 RTL from a 2013 RTL. What do I need to know?

I also went from a 2013 RT-S to a 2020 RTL in 2020. You will notice a difference in the ride pulling out of the lot. Moving up 2 generations in development is a big change. +1 on the handlebar riser from Lamont. I rode 300 miles home from the dealer and it was the first mod I made...

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. My solo ride to Alaska was an amazing experience and one that was made extra special by having the Spyderlovers community along for the ride. Since it is the middle of winter, I hope reading this report helps stimulate planning for riding adventures for...

It's not in the top case but there is an easy 12v add in the frunk. Looking at the battery it is on the right-hand side.

2013 RT SE5 ownership advice - pre purchase

First of all, there is nothing wrong with a 2013 RT. I rode one for seven years and never had an issue. That year model had several upgrades over the 2012. You will need to check to see if it had the air intake recall done. It ran hot due to the tupperware change implemented for the upcoming...

I don't like my driver's backrest - any better options?

I have a backrest but wanted more lumbar support. I bought a memory foam neck pillow for $10 at Marshall's. It has a strap thar wraps around the backrest,

Anyone doing DESS disabling in Missouri Kansas City area?

Not in KC area but Lamonster Garage in Nixa, MO can disable it. I did not have any issues on my 2020 RTL but I had his shop disable it anyway.

First "Long" ride upcoming - Las Vegas to Reno

Sounds like a good "first trip". 250 miles a day over 4 days should be comfortable and give you some experience on how to approach longer rides.

    Solo to Alaska

I'm glad you enjoyed the ride report. The Canadian Northwest and Alaska are so vast it cannot all be seen and experienced in one trip. I'd love to go back to see things I missed but that will be 2 or 3 years before I can make that happen.

Buying my first Spyder Have some questions.

There is nothing wrong with the 2012 model RT. However, a ten year old bike may need to catch up on maintenance and tires so you could end up paying more upfront to be confident about the bike on the road. Also, it's two generations behind the current model. Less maintenance and additional...

Wife's first mountain ride on the spyder

Sounds like you had a great trip. The miles in the mountains can be physically taxing due to all the pushing and pulling that needs to be done in the curves. So, a couple hundred miles probably felt like a lot more. Enjoy the ride!

Spyder camping trip to Yellowstone NP

Thanks for sharing your trip. I agree that if you visit Yellowstone you need to see Old Faithful but it can be skipped on later visits due to the crowds.

First multi day trip with the wife riding her own spyder!

Sounds like a fun trip with the wife. Just the right length of time for a first trip and keeping the daily miles doable. My wife doesn't ride her own Spyder but she has gone on a couple week long trips with me as a passenger. Thoroughly enjoy her riding with me.
