• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Purchasing a 2008 GS - Anything I should be aware of?

The GS became the RS and was basically unchanged up until 2012. So any comments you see for that range on this forum hold true. No issues getting parts for maintenance but what is thin on the ground is some of the aftermarket stuff. Engine and gearbox are very reliable, you hardly ever see...

Having problems finding grips to fit a 2014 RSS - Ideas?

Agree with Bfromla. If you just want to make them softer/less vibey/more comfortable then foam grips work very well and very quick to fit. I think I got mine from SpyderPops and they are still going strong.

    What's your best mod?

I'm not sure on the exact capacity as I was given the tank by someone after helping them out (long story). However because its plumbed into the top of my main tank it allows me to completely fill that as well, if you have an RS you'll know they are really hard to fill - and being a 2011 RS has...

    What's your best mod?

it's mounted on my rear rack (big cylinder in pic that looks like a mini beer barrel) and plumbed into the main tank so as fuel is used from the main tank more is pulled through. Here is a closeup of it mounted and also how the pipe feeds through via a quick release connector:

    What's your best mod?

Aux tank that's effectively tripled my range before I need to stop and fill up - I hate stopping and it means I can get even further off the beaten track:-)

Nice way to spend a weekend

For some reason never made it there even though I worked in Finland and have friends in Denmark, somehow missed the opportunity but I'm sure I'll get a chance one day. But of course NZ has some of the best motorbike/Spyder roads in the world, particularly the South Island:-) Christchurch is...

Nice way to spend a weekend

Venting via the aux tank seems to work well. I have a safety valve and filter on the vent from the aux but it would have been possible to route it all the way back to the canister. The other thing that wasn't visible in that photo is that I've got is a a second quick release coupling with a...

Nice way to spend a weekend

But I still haven't ridden a bike/Spyder in Sweden...yet. Hopefully will when I finally get a chance to one on my wish list rides: Gibraltar to Cabi Norte

Nice way to spend a weekend

The Aux tank is vented so the solution I came up with was to connect it to the vent pipe of the main tank (which normally goes to the Canister if you've not already bypassed that (I had:-)) The fuel line exit on my aux tank is in the middle of the tank so I mounted the tank on the std rack lid...

Nice way to spend a weekend

I do a lot of gravel road riding but have only had to replace my belt once in 8 years. That was after going over freshly laid chip and tar which was still hot so the tar stuck the stones to the tires and made them fly everywhere. I've got a Spyderpops belt guard fitted - it has quite a few...

Nice way to spend a weekend

2928km (1819 miles) in 46hrs 58mins, around 300km of which was on gravel tracks. Knocked off a few more firsts for a Spyder including Nevis Road. Who needs an adventure bike when you have an RS:-)

Fender eliminator kit for 08 spyder

The tail piece from a Kawasaki ZX14 can easily be made to fit. That's what I did, just need to make up a bracket for the number plate to lessen the angle. I also cut down the old left-hand bracket so I could keep the belt guard and fitted led indicators onto the ZX14 tail piece so I could...

    Hydration on long rides

Camelpak again here but my Klim jacket has a special pocket built in for it in the back so don't need to use the backpack part if I don't want to. Also because the jacket has back vents it and the camelpak is on the other side of the armour it stays cool. I tend to have water mixed with a...

Do you carry extra fuel for long tours?

In rural NZ, particularly at night, you can go a very long way between open gas stations, hence the large aux tank mounted on the rack which more than doubles the range: Even with this I still have a 1 litre primus bottle as a backup, though that's also for use with my camping stove. Before...

2012 RS 17K miles Brake Failure message

I'm sure you've already checked this but on mine I eventually spotted I had a small split in the rubber seal on one of the caps. It wasn't obvious it was only while I was checking the level for the umptieth time I noticed it.

    2011 RS SE5 in Silver?

RS 2011 in Magnesium is by far best Spyder ever made...though I could be slightly bias;-) Had mine since new, its still going strong and I don't treat it nicely.

    Next Gen Spyder Drvetrain

I do a lot of gravel road riding (including the biggies like Skippers Road, Rainbow Road, Danseys Pass, etc) and never had a problem with those, though I do have a Spyderpops belt guard. The twice I've been done is on freshly laid chip and tar where the tars still hot. This unfortunately is a...
