• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

RSS owner asking F3 owners - is there any heat off the engine onto your right foot?

F3 is about 15 minutes slower on my favourite 'just popping out' route, mind you that route is 667km long and involves both Lewis and Arthurs Passes across the Southern Alps:-)

RSS owner asking F3 owners - is there any heat off the engine onto your right foot?

Further to that I'd say the F3 is a more refined ride than the RS. Riding wise its better to ride in town/heavy traffic as the RS always felt like it was straining to race while the F3 is happy to go with the flow and is very stable. This is a little bit of the F3's downside as well because...

RSS owner asking F3 owners - is there any heat off the engine onto your right foot?

As an RS owner who's gone to an F3, no there's not. I've not noticed any engine heat at all on the F3. In fact on cold days putting my hands on the bodywork when stopped no longer warms them like it would on the RS, fortunately my F3 has got heated grips. I have found myself warmer on the F3...

Attended Can Am Road Experience day - LOT of fun!

I've just made the move from my old RS which I had for 9+ years to a 2017 F3L. I'd looked at F3's when they first came out but when I took one out on a test ride I found them slower than the RS and, like you, I had similar issues with the sitting position so didn't upgrade at the time. Coming...

    New rider, confession and question

If it makes you feel any better. I've ridden motorbikes since I was 16, in fact I didn't get a car license until I was in my late 20's. I've also ridden ski-doo's, quads and even jet-skis. But I really really struggled with working out cornering on a Spyder. It took me a good 500kms until I...

Where is the brake alarm beeper located?

Private message sent Beeper is mentioned 4 times in the manual but not its location. I've also checked the wiring diagram but can't see this marked as a separate unit (though I may have missed it). There is a module for the parking brake but as the beeper is also used for Throttle Body...

How do you Glasses wearers manage with Helmet & Glasses?

I only needed readers until this year when I needed to get bi-focals for the first time and I wanted them specifically for riding/driving. I let the optician know I road a motorbike with a full face helmet and that would be the main use. Firstly she tuned the bi-focal split and focus so the...

What’s in your Emergency Roadside trip bag?

This is what I carry in mine plus small petrol stove and dried food. Have the same kit in both Spyder and ute: May seem over the top but have needed to leave home for high ground following tsunami warnings, been stuck on the wrong side of washed out bridges and then there's the earthquakes of...

2010 Spyder RS won't stay in 2nd gear - any ideas?

Copy of gearbox section from manual there is a bit about the selector mechanism and as I thought the engine doesn't have to be removed (though obviously its still a bit of work). If your not happy doing it yourself then any motorbike mechanic could manage this as its pretty standard. RS Manual...

2010 Spyder RS won't stay in 2nd gear - any ideas?

I'm guessing from your description that your having to hold your foot up under the gear lever when its in second but don't have to do this with any of the other gears. If it was oil type was wrong in the past I'd expect you'd to notice the clutch slipping in all gears rather than a single gear...

Do you think dealerships should offer some compensation/discounts ??

A dealer here told me last Oct they had just three 2021 left and that they'd just been told that it was unlikely any 2022 Spyders would be coming into the country. Imagine being a dealer and finding you'd have no stock to sell for a year. They had also got far less seadoos than they had...

    HowTo: F3T Handlebar Mirrors

Very elegant solution and the design you picked for both the arms and the mirrors really works. Looking at that you do have to wonder why Can-am continue to persist with bodywork mounted mirrors when they have never really done the job.

Power / USB switched vs unswitched?

This is how I did the ram mounts. It was pretty simple to do as the whole dash surround comes off so easily and so I could work it all out off the Spyder. The plastic is nice and strong at this point so no flex. You just have to make sure the bolts don't foul with how the panels fit together...

Power / USB switched vs unswitched?

Yep I don't know why Can-am think we're so besotted with our elbows:-) The RS was even worse. Last couple of years I've started to need reading glasses so I got a pair of safety glasses with a bifocal bit at the bottom for riding the Spyder. Last checkup my distance vision has started to go so...

Power / USB switched vs unswitched?

On my RS I ran my own circuit from the battery to power the GPS & radar detector as well as having a usb (for phone charging) and cigarette socket (for running tire pump). I mounted a switch on the dash to turn the circuit on and off, they were also each fused separately. I liked having these...

Installation of Garmin XT - which acc circuit for key on hot?

Yep same wire used here, its a bit annoying that it only works when the engine is running rather than just having the ignition on but at least the XT has a reasonable battery. The one on my 590 used only last a couple of minutes.

This is how I still have Dry feet!

For those who are looking for completely waterproof motorcycle boots I've got to say Sidi Adventure 2 boots are excellent. Super comfortable, the clips make them really easy to put on/off and they are completely waterproof. Since getting them I've ridden through all seasons, even after one...

What's everyone wearing for Riding Jackets?

The old Hien Gericke one in my profile pic when I'm just nipping out to the shops or going to work. For proper riding a Klim Kodiak (gore-tex pro).

Does Eco mode really make a difference?

My guess is Eco mode is primarily there so Can-am can meet, or appear to meet, the regulatory requirements of certain countries or states. It gives a 'green credential' that can be used to deflect questions on environmental impact. Its also something that with modern electronically controlled...
