• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where to find aftermarket steering trim?

There’s dealer stickers in these two recesses on my 2010 RS. Months ago I stumbled across a source on here for some sharp looking inserts to glue in there, but I can’t find them for the life of me. Anybody know? Sorry the system made the picture upside down.

The oil plug- Murphy showed up today.

I had the same problem on my 2010 RS SE5, but the Allen head that stripped out was on the bottom of the engine. Fortunately there was like a 16th of an inch that I was able to get a pair of vice grips on and knock it loose. I replaced that plug, as well as the HCM plug with Gold Plugs that have...

What's the Whirring When I Turn the Key On?

So turning on the key, makes a “whirring” sound while the gauge needles swing to full peg and initialize. Doesn’t bother me, as I figured it was just the fuel pump. Today I went out and all was well and normal. About 2 hours later, I went out again, and that whirring was loud and rough sounding...

Is Reverse A Low Gear, Or Higher?

So Yesterday, I was going down my hill to go to the grocery store, and realized that I had forgotten my wallet. I stopped just past a neighbor’s driveway, put the bike into reverse and backed up hill into their driveway to turn around. I could feel the clutch chatter very roughly when I...

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

Why can’t the probe touch the plastic reservoir? So if I stick the red probe into a glass of water and the black one to ground, I will get a reading of 1.0, or 100% water?

    Downshifting vs Braking

Mine is an SE5, and I’ve noticed that manually downshifting via the blipper is much smoother than just braking and letting the TCM do it. Letting the bike downshift by itself seems to be a louder, harsher “clunk”, I suppose because the RPM’s are lower than they would be if I manually downshift...

What things need to be done to a new machine?

I never understood how one can know what their tire pressure is, without hiring an independent lab that has scientifically calibrated equipment. Go buy 10 different pressure gauges, and you’ll get 10 different readings. There’s no way to tell which one is correct. I’m not blasting you, @RayBJ...

Why you should flush your brake fluid properly

I just flushed mine. First, I removed the OEM bleeders and replaced them with Speed Bleeders on just the three wheels, and left the VSS alone. It holds such little fluid that it really can be ignored if you’re going to flush every two years. As per BajaRon, the fluid is NOT static. What little...

Where is everyone getting SE5 Oil Filter and Oil these days?

I got my kit from BajaRon as well. I did not use the crush washers, as I bought Gold Plugs after fighting the OEM ones out. Gold Plugs come with a good supply of washers. As for oil, I’m partial to Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40. It is JASO-MA2 Certified for wet clutches. Especially important in the...

Review: Wolo Installed! Big Bad Max 619

Last Wolo Big Bad Max I installed was on my 2004 Honda Shadow Aero 750. It was back in 2014. I always loved the loudness, and got many comments on it — until today. That bike was replaced by a 2010 Spyder RS SE5. Got my new Big Bad Max last week and installed it today. Before I made my final...

    A word about brake pads...

I’m in the market for pads (I think) and have found many, but way cheap and I’m not going there lol. So has anybody tried ceramic pads? I see they’re out there. And is sintered the same as what automotive brakes are referred to as semi-metallic? Also, I’ve never done bike pads before, but I’ve...

Can two load resistors be wired in parallel?

The turn signals are on the upper rear Tupperware. The lights in question are the standard 1157 bulbs (“globes” to Peter) that are two filament bulbs. One filament is the running, or tail light, and the other is the brake light.

What oil are you using for your 1330 engine?? Tips & hints on oil change?

As for API service, BRP states in their manual (for my 2010 RS) to NOT use an API classification of SM. They claim it will cause the clutch to slip. How are their clutches different from any other bike clutch? I don’t know. In all my 62 years, I’ve always known that every new API certification...

Can two load resistors be wired in parallel?

I really want to replace the two OEM 1157 bulbs in my brake/tail (running) lights with LED’s. I want the brake lights to strobe. Superbright LED’s has a modulator (but I get a VSS fault/limp mode) with it. Superbright tells me that I need a load resistor on each the left and right. My question...

Is there an LED Headlight without fan extn that just fits in?

I’ve always been a big fan of Fahren LED bulbs. They seem to stay on top of the game with advancements. Here’s a set of their newest H4. I just put a set of H7’s in my RS. They’ll definitely light up the night! forenner Fahren NEW Upgraded H4/9003 LED Headlight Bulbs, 24000LM 600% Brightness...

What oil are you using for your 1330 engine?? Tips & hints on oil change?

Personally putting an oil that has additive packages that formulate it for a diesel has no place in my bike; but that’s just me. I know a lot of guys do it, but I prefer to stick with an actual motorcycle oil. I only run Mobil 1 10-40 Racing 4T in my bikes, along with BajaRon’s filter kit.

    Brake/Tail LED’s cause VSS/Limp Home msg - what do I do?

Took both OEM lights out completely. VSS and then Limp. Put only one in. Same. Put both in and all is well. My service manual states that “if one or both the brake lights or tail lights burn out, a VSS fault will be displayed, and the bike will enter limp-home mode.” I think that’s absolutely...

    Brake/Tail LED’s cause VSS/Limp Home msg - what do I do?

Thanks, Peter. The lugs on the side of the base are offset, so the globes only fit in the socket the right way. The running lights come on with the key, and pressing the brake pedal lights that part up just fine. However, they use so little power that the nanny thinks they’re not working at all...
