• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 RT SE5...replace, re-upholster, or customer cover for ripped seat?

The standard OEM seat on my 2012 RT has developed rips and tears in several places, probably due to its age, and the fact that it lives outdoors year round. My question is whether I should replace the seat, get it re-upholstered, or find a seat cover for it? There's nothing structurally wrong...

    Crazy Fault Codes!

Insanity! I started the Spyder this morning...NO faults, NO codes! I did the 3 button check...blank screen. I took it for a 20 mile ride and everything was as fine as could be...no issues at all. Today's temp is in the low 60's so I'm wondering if the temperature could have effected the...

    2 Weeks Waiting Time!

Yup, that's the one! Been taking my bike there since I got it about 2 1/2 years ago. They do good work, no complaints, but there's a "wait" every time. LOL I don't have any other Can-Am dealers close by, so I'm stuck with the Chesapeake dealer. :-)

    2 Weeks Waiting Time!

Yes, Spyders are a PITA to work on, especially if you don't have the know how and tech manuals. :-)

    2 Weeks Waiting Time!

Guys, I appreciate all the comments and shared experiences with the delays at the Can-Am dealer for service. For those who asked, I have no idea of what's causing the problems I'm having, so I can't order any parts in advance. Also, I rode the bike throughout the winter, so I know its not a...

    2 Weeks Waiting Time!

I called my Can-Am dealer to let him know I was bringing my bike in for some work, and asked what day next week would be best. The head service guy laughed, and said they were jammed more than ever before, and there was a TWO WEEK wait before they could even look at my bike! The two weeks...

    Crazy Fault Codes!

Battery replaced by Can Am dealer a year ago...I checked connections (under seat)...all are snug, no loose wires or ground.

    Crazy Fault Codes!

Nope, no work done on the bike...I've been planning on taking it up to the dealer for an oil change, annual check up, etc. But I can't do that if "limp home" continues. The dealer is 35 miles away through horrendous traffic. The battery was replaced last year by the dealer, so unless it has...

    Crazy Fault Codes!

I'll take a look, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for, other than a disconnected or loose wire. Its odd that there were NO problems at all, then this bunch just showed up.

    Crazy Fault Codes!

The battery was replaced a year ago by the Can-Am dealer. I checked the connections...good and tight. If the battery has gone bad, I'll jump on the Can-Am dealer!

    Crazy Fault Codes!

I haven't been able to take my 2012 Spyder RT SE5 to the dealer yet, so I figured I'd check out the list of faults the bike was registering. Aside from the "idiot lights", the actual fault codes were: P0500 Invalid of missing speed on CAN (whatever the hell that means!) 0003B YAW rate sensor...

How Much to Replace ECM on 2012 RT SE5?

I'll try to figure out where the pins are located, and check them out. I didn't see any loose wires, but I only looked at "surface stuff" that was visible without taking the tupperware off. Thanks!

How Much to Replace ECM on 2012 RT SE5?

I don't know if my Can Am dealer will aloow me to supply my own parts, but if it turns out that I need to replace the ECM, I'll certainly ask them! Every penny saved is another mile I can ride...LOL

How Much to Replace ECM on 2012 RT SE5?

Yup, that's exactly what I'll do. Hopefully its a loose wire or something simple like that. Don't want to pay for a new ECM if I don't absolutely need one. :-)

How Much to Replace ECM on 2012 RT SE5?

Good advice...thanks. I'll have them do an electric diagnosis or run BUDS and see what they find. I'd rather pay for them tightening a loose wire than a whole new ECM.. :-)

How Much to Replace ECM on 2012 RT SE5?

I may need to have the ECM replaced on my 2012 RT SE5. Anybody got a rough estimate of what the Can-Am dealer will charge for this? I bought the bike used, so have no idea of whether or not the ECM has been updated or flashed (50,000+ miles), but its giving me headaches now...check engine...

    Used RT Guidance...

I agree! My 2012 RT-SE5 has been a great bike for me. Bought it used with high mileage, and haven't regretted it for a single minute. :-)

    ECM Went Crazy

Mine is a 998...2012, so not the 1330...but it's never shown any signs of burning oil. Yet it does have 50,000+ miles on it, so maybe its burning a little but with no outward signs. I normally check the oil level after I've ridden it at least a mile or two (up and down my road), to make sure...

    ECM Went Crazy

I'm hoping that this was a singular event...it scared the hell out of me thinking about the potential costs for getting all those "faults" corrected. LOL Its running like a top now, so maybe, just maybe it was an ECM "senior moment". :-)
