• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where Are Battery Posts on 2012 RT?

I need to jump start my 2012 RT SE5, but the picture in the user's manual does not point out where the battery posts really are! Can someone post a pic, or give me a specific location of the positive battery post? The 2012 RT battery is under the seat, not in the frunk like the 2013's. I can...

Any way to adjust the seat release?

On my 2012 RT, I used a "wire wrap" to go thru the mechanism, and along side the cable, then draped the edge outside the closed seat. If I give the outside end a gentle tug, it unlatched my seat every time.

Seat release not working on 2012 RT Limited??

I had the same problem with my 2012 RT, and used the solution you mentioned. Now I have a small wire attached to my seat mechanism so I can open the seat regardless of the switch. I did the same with the frunk. Great idea, and it works! :-)

What are these Fender Lights called, and how do I replace the strip?

Got great info from you folks. Thanks very much! I'll check the sites, and do some price comparisons...and saave my pennies! :-)

What are these Fender Lights called, and how do I replace the strip?

The strip of small colored lights on one of my front fenders has 3-4 burned out "bulbs". (see pic) I want to replace the entire strip, but a) don't know what this strip is called, and b) have no idea how to replace it. I've searched for the name of this light strip but can't find anything...

RTSE5 Won't Shift At All, What Is This Connector???

Thankfully, the splines inside the connector and on the shaft rod were still there. I saw the groove you mentioned, and made sure that the connector was properly seated so the through bolt tightened against that groove. Thanks for your knowledge and help!

RTSE5 Won't Shift At All, What Is This Connector???

Got it back on, and will consider a longer thru-bolt with a lock nut. Thanks for you knowledge and help!

RTSE5 Won't Shift At All, What Is This Connector???

Thanks very much! The pic was a great help, and I was able to put the connector back on the splined shift rod. Plenty of splines left both inside the connector and on the rod. I really appreciate your knowledge and help!

RTSE5 Won't Shift At All, What Is This Connector???

Went for a ride today...about 100 miles total. No problems at all. Got home, and tried to shift from 1st into Neutral to park the bike. Would not shift into neutral, or reverse...tried many times. Put on parking brake, and killed the engine. Started it with foot on brake...no problem...

    Tarp or No Tarp?

The WIDTH of the RT is what makes it challenging to find a suitable trailer. I don't know how wide an average 1-horse trailer is, but that would be ideal. I could park it in my driveway, seal up the open areas, and park the Spyder in there, and I could run my battery tender right in. If I had...

Grumbling Noise When Coming to a Stop

Excellent! I'm glad you were able to discover the problem and repair it! I removed the tupperware side panel, but couldn't see anything "obvious", and nothing was loose when I tried to shake it. Turns out it WAS the sprocket... The Can Am dealer's service dept. diagnosed it quickly, and...

    Tarp or No Tarp?

Really??? Never even considered that...LOL But if it keeps varmints away, I'll do it!

    Tarp or No Tarp?

My 2012 RT SE5 has to spend all year outdoors. I have no garage or place to keep it out of the weather. My question is: should I wrap the Spyder in a tarp during the worst winter months when I can't ride it, or should I leave it "exposed"? Someone told me that tarping it would lock in the...

Grumbling Noise When Coming to a Stop

I brought the Spyder to my Can Am dealer to determine what the problem was, and to get it repaired. I was fearing a huge bill for possible transmission issues. Turns out the problem was a bad/worn out FRONT SPROCKET! They replaced it, and cleaned up some rust, etc. They called and told me...

Transmission Bearing Replacement - anyone had one done?

The only symptom is the grumbling noise it makes when I back off the throttle all the way, and when I'm coasting to a stop. There are no performance issues. The bike shifts up and down perfectly. It was the Can Am dealer who suggested that it might be a transmission bearing, requiring a VERY...

Transmission Bearing Replacement - anyone had one done?

That's good to hear! I'll ask some of HD riding buds for suggestions of good motorcycle mechanics. I'm the only Spyder rider in our group (maybe in the whole area). Most of the guys ride Harleys, and many work on their own bikes. Maybe they'll know a mechanic willing and able to work on my...

Transmission Bearing Replacement - anyone had one done?

My concern is that they'll "find" more things that "need to be repaired right away", and the $1200 bill will turn into $2000+. I'm at their mercy because there's no competition for Can Ams anywhere near here, and "regular" bike shops won't touch a Spyder because they require special manuals...

Transmission Bearing Replacement - anyone had one done?

They are good mechanics, but my concern is that they'll "find" a half dozen more things that "need to be repaired", which will drive the bill into the atmosphere. The bike is a 2012 model with 60,000 miles on it, but has been carefully kept up for the 4 years I've owned it. I have very limited...

Transmission Bearing Replacement - anyone had one done?

Unfortunately my Can Am dealer is in Chesapeake, VA...they have a good service team, but they are expensive! I imagine they'll fine a list of "other issues" they'll claim need to be handled at once. I'm sticking to my guns, and just having the bearing issue repaired.
