• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any problems connecting GPS direct to battery?

LA, my experience with this is from my old Victory CCT, but I can only assume similar. I had an XM unit hooked straight to the battery and it worked just fine. My only problem was when I forgot to power the unit down one night when we got to our hotel late and was in a bit of a rush to get out...

    First 'long' trip

These things do like to eat up the miles. Glad you had an enjoyable trip. We use a Butt Buffer pad, and a no-name seat pad on our longinterstate days (think 500+ miles). I change out between the cushions and no cushion every fuel stop. Keeps the behind confused, and not sore.

Anyone using a Stand alone Apple CarPlay/Android Device? Any recommendations?

I have the 5" Carupride from Amazon. Been using it for about 2 months. It is working good enough, it has glitched two or three times requiring a restart. I have it Bluetoothed to the bike in place of my phone so the music and maps come out the bike's speakers (phone is Bluetoothed to the...

    Apple Car Play Compensation

Not to get too off subject - but every time I renew my XM subscription, I have to spend about 30 minutes on the phone to get the same price, because they want to raise it every time I renew. A little polite negotiations, and I get the same price. I think for like 10 years running......... Back...

    2024 Hot Springs Ryder Rally - May 16-18, 2024

Looks like an awesome trip! We couldn't make the timing work for the rally, looks like a great turnout with great people. Maybe one day....... We will be in Hot Springs and surrounding AR areas in a few weeks. I have an appointment with Spyderpops for some lighting, and I'm sure an add on or...

    Potentially Inflammatory: Why vests?

I'm not sure of the origin, but I'll toss in on this one. I wear my vest on tours and longer day rides. Likeothers, it is the story of my motorcycle adventures. Patches and pins with meanings. Cheaper than tattoos..... but those are fun too!

Can-Am does some things right, others not so much

LOL!! :roflblack: Vito, I agree with your points and would add, a little better fit and finsh would be nice. But...... my S2S is by far the best touring rig I've owned, and when people ask, I tell them if they are still making them when I'm in the market, my next bike will be a Spyder too. The...

Photo op - Red Round Barn on my breakfast ride!

Took a quick breakfast ride and stopped out at Johnson Saulk Trail Park for a photo op.

What Budget Comms Systems are available/do you like?

We just bought (and are using) Lexin GTX. We just use it as intercom and to take phone calls. Works great for the price ($189 at Amazon). (All GPS and music is routed through the bike speakers, so I can't comment on connectivity to the Spyder's bluetooth)

Anyone Added a large (7") Carplay Display screen to a Spyder RT?

I have mine powered from a switched wire under the seat. Phone gets bluetoothed to the Carupride, Carupride bluetooth to the bike. I "unpaired" my phone from the Spyder to prevent any confusion in the computer. Either the bike's or mine..........

    Gangster Protecting My Spyder

We stopped by the Ohio Club in 2019 when we stayed in Hot Springs, had lunch and got a t-shirt. There was a gentleman there playing guitar and singing, he even did a Prine song. I can't get to the pictures right now, but I believe my wife and I sat for a portrait with Mr. Capone.

Anyone Added a large (7") Carplay Display screen to a Spyder RT?

I bought the 5" Carupride and have it mounted on the left side handlebar. I Bluetooth my phone to the display and use CarPlay. The Carupride is then Bluetooth-ed to the Spyder so directions and music come out the bike speakers. My phone is also Bluetooth-ed to my headset to take calls. I prefer...

How Much Do You Use Wide Open Throttle?

I like to get frisky sometimes.

I may have to forfeit my "motorcyclist" membership card!

I may add a 2 wheeler back to the stable at some point..... but for now, and forseeable future, I am going to enjoy riding my Spyder, and maybe another one after this one! I earned my "motorcyclist" card after 40-ish years on 2 wheelers. I'm not giving that up! (for the record, my wife says...

After decent Ride/Route fm Maggie Valley to ToD or Cherohala Skyway?

I haven't ridden Tennessee or NC in about 10 years, but I do know that pretty much any route you can find to get there, barring interstates, is a beautiful ride. The Cherohola Skyway is an incredible ride. The Dragon is fun too, if you get there early and on a weekday with less traffic. Like was...

At what mileage did you buy your first set of replacement tires?

At 12,000-ish miles on my '22 S2S, my rear tire was worn in the center. I put a General out back and went ahead and replaced the fronts with Vredsteins, even though they had decent tread depth left. I was anxious to see what all the talk was about. I'm glad I did and I'm looking forward to our...

Any experience using these Dolly Jack's for moving Spyder?

I got the Harbor Freight car dollies. I would have preferred the softer nylon rollers, but I use them twice a year - once to roll the Spyder to the back of the garage, and then to move it out to wake it up. I think I spent about $100 for the set of 4, and I already had a floor jack to get the...

Should I worry about speakers/dash when Washing my Spyder? What do you do?

I don't worry about getting the speakers wet - they get wet in the rain. I don't use any pressure on them - just garden hose pressure, and I try not to direct water directly at the speakers. I will add - I don't think I read it - remove your key during washing. I've read where that may cause...

Do the 2023/24 RT Speakers sound good & loud enough?

Good points made above. I find that my Sirius app provides the best sound, followed by Pandora, then IHeart radio. (All through the bikes speakers, wearing modular on the interstates or cold/rainy weather, or 1/2 helmet on twisties or local rides.) Also, messing with the volume on the source...

    Eclipse Reports - April 2024

Our neck of the woods saw something like 94% coverage. It seemed a little shadow-y, but I think the 2017 (?) one was better for us. The temp dropped a few degrees, and the view was like a fingernail of the sun still showing around the moon's shadow. I am still amazed when we are able to witness...
