• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rain Gear?

Frog Togs to grab from the Frunk when out and about and weather might change. Tourmaster gear when touring, with wind water barrier in jacket and pants. Works well and nice not having to stop and sort things out to put on different gear. So far... seems to work well in anything from light to...

Horrible handling issue with major wind gusts

I've found usually when the Spyder is misbehaving... it is actually me. My brain, especially in adverse weather (wind/rain) wants to remember my 2 wheel skills. It is good advice, when the Spyder acts weird, relax and make sure your "death grip" hasn't kicked in and the input is playing with...

    RS Fan

It is surprisingly "normal" for any fan cooling to wait that high on the temp gauge before coming on. It faked me out too. As the above post says, something else is going wrong with your Spyder. I would start by making sure the coolant cap is tight (and working), with a 2009 inspect that...

    RS Fan

I let it idle in the garage today and build up heat .... at 6 bars, the fan came to life. Still surprising that it climbs that far on the gauge, but I guess that is normal. I will keep watch on it though... don't want to overheat an engine. Thanks for the help... hopefully alls well that ends...

Buttoned it back up and will be watching for a fan to come on at 5. Thanks for the help everyone.

    LED Fog Light

Was able to install LED fog/running lights in my RS. Nice improvement. Previous owner had upgraded the headlights to high/low LED's. I upgraded fog and fender tips ... and now the front of the bike is more visible and the lights are uniform. These are 30w bulbs and throw 7200lm of 6k light...

    RS Fan

ECM via a temp sensor on engine head/block? Where is the sending unit for heat that supplies the signal to kick it on? I can check there too. Also, if there was a problem with the sensor ... wouldn't the Spyder brain be bright enough to throw an error code?

    RS Fan

Thanks for the heads up on how far up the temp gauge before any fan. I'll watch it. It just felt warmer than usual. Normally, sitting, it is mainly heat coming from the brake side. Saturday, it felt like I was sitting on a pretty hot fire on both sides. The gauge was hitting 4-5 and no...

    RS Fan

Placed a jumper between b10 and c12 and it forces the fan to run. The next step it says is to replace relay... but using a different relay out of the fuse block (swapping) does not cause the fan to operate correctly. Now more stumpified.

    RS Fan

I was able to put the meter on it before I have to scoot and nothing was coming through at the plug... bad wire or plug or....

Thanks... I'll go further tomorrow... today has some other stuff to accomplish ;) Thanks for the help... so far so good.

    RS Fan

Was able to get the fan to spin up with power from my 12v battery charger. I replaced the 15amp fuse in case it only looked good. Swapped a known working relay in. The fan plug seats well in its socket. Still nothing. Oh... and this heat issue started before the skins were off... on a ride...

    RS Fan

Ok.. i'll try that next. Thanks for the help. Hope it is just a fan to replace and hope I don't have a lot to tear apart to get at it. Grrrrrrr.

    RS Fan

Swapped relays ... no go. Runs up to five bars and shut it off to not get it too hot. Maybe a dead fan?

    RS Fan

Anyone encounter issues with the radiator fan? Mine has 8k on the clock and had the skins off to install some new lights. It had run warmer than usual Saturday on a ride with my wife. The temp went above its normal position. Let it idle in the garage... bars move up but fan never comes on...

Concealed carry on a RT - which holster?

I carry, but hope I never ever have to use the gun. I think most of us who carry are of that same mindset. Evil will always be around us. That is just the way of this world. If the situation should present itself to defend my life or others, I will be in a position that allows me to protect...

    2010 RS Coolant Change

That sounds like a good plan... don't want to replace a radiator for sure! Thanks for the heads up!!

    2010 RS Coolant Change

Getting ready to do some service on the Spyder. This will be my first time doing coolant service since I purchased it used. Any tips, tricks, caveats on the 998 coolant system? Thanks. Also, which coolant do you use... guessing anything aluminum friendly is okay!

Juuuust missed hitting a Deer! Great brakes on these things!

Here in WI, they are always in groups or 2 or more... except during the rut, when bucks are moving and looking for girlfriends (and won't tolerate other bucks). In summer, the bucks tend to herd up in bachelor groups together and the does/fawns keep to themselves. When breeding season starts...
