• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone tried the Hornet Electric Deer Whistle?

Thanks. Everything Hough has done is worth every rider's reading, and time studying too.

Anyone tried the Hornet Electric Deer Whistle?

I recall reading an article a few years back based on research done, if memory serves (my memory is a part-time servant and, if it shows up for work, is slow) the data came out of the state of Maine in the US. Conclusion was the whistles (I doubt the source of the noise, passive or electrical...

    Are you a Sea-Foam User?

I use it in all the carbon-based fuel vehicles and tools I own. I know it's snake oil, but it has cleaned up more than one engine, mine and friends' who became believers after trying it. I add, I dunno, 4 fluid ounces (118 cc) roughly every third fill. I fill the tank when it's no lower than 1/4...

Will Charging the Camper's Battery off my Spyder overload the Alternator

I've done it to keep my cpap battery charged. No problems that I can detect. Voltmeter shows a constant 14.X volts when running with spare/second battery attached. If you want to get serious-er, find a "voltage sensitive relay" (VSR), which only "releases" current when the source voltage is...

Trailer Choices - what options & pros/cons? Recommendations?

Helpful. Thank you! By "center wheel" do you mean the case is mounted over, or mostly over, the wheel?

Trailer Choices - what options & pros/cons? Recommendations?

Single wheel cargo trailer Coming from the two-wheeled world I'm drawn to mono- single-wheel trailers. I've read some folks here who are quite adamant that mono-wheel trailers have no place behind a Spyder. My quite faulty memory remembers the arguments as "Mono wheel trailers lean. The spyder...

    Dragon or Rattler?

Oh. Uh. Wrong side of the continent. We've got plenty of rattle snakes here in eastern Oregon. One road got its name from said snakes. Not the "Rattler," but the "Rattlesnake." I've ridden it more than once, both directions. Terrific either way. It's a bit of a commute from where you guys...

For those of you with them, what Sheepskin cover care do you use?

Had sheepskins on an old Volvo 242. Kept them when I sold the car. Cut a piece that wasn't worn, trimmed it a bit so it fit the saddle, added an elastic piece of cloth which runs under the seat. Voila! Sheepskin 'cycle cushion. The original skins were very high quality. My seat cover has been...

What were the best 3 A/mkt items you added to your Spyder?

    1. Ron's swaybar 2. Heated gear for the wife 3. Quatracs

suggested sticky posting of BRP contact information

The latest from BRP customer service is sending me to the dealer, with the promise that the dealer knows more than the folks in Quebec. Doubtful. And doubtful that the dealer could know less. The creature at BRP then sent me the names, address and phone number for three dealers in Mississippi...

Off to Austria for a BRP event - BRP Grosglockner Challenege 2023!

Well done. Thank You! I remember the Grosglockner. Unfortunately I was driving on four wheels, not three or two.

There and back again I guess.

Delightful. Thanks! Here in the U.S. a pastry's "creme" or "cream" filling often, usually, has never been near a cow. If there IS any milk in the stuff called cream, it was in the truck that drove past the factory creating the stuff that is stuffed in pastries. Some independent bakeries use...

suggested sticky posting of BRP contact information

I sympathize. I don't think posting contact information will improve things. I've been asking for an answer to a basic question. BRP replies without addressing any question. After a couple more messages I'm given the answer: for a Ryker. I'm invited to download the Ryker information, a file...

Spyder enjoyment vs. experience of ownership

Enjoyment on a scale of 0--10, with ten being "Think I've died and gone to heaven" and zero being "Wish I could die, even if it means hell" I'm at a five (5) Experience of Ownership, same scale, I'm at a 2.5.

So what's the difference, apart from the name? (Coilover springs)

I spoke way too soon. Upon further investigation I'm finding conflicting data on correct spring length. So that's on hold for now. Had I bought the springs I discussed, I was going with 300 pounds. I weigh 200 with gear; wife weighs 120 with gear. I do mostly solo riding, with the occasional...

GPS mount: Anyone see a problem??

I reworked this setup recently. Vibrations are mostly gone. The vibrations that remain aren't sufficient to either irritate or make seeing detail on the GPS difficult. I picked up a RAM mount, RAM-B-367U, which is designed to attach the ball to a handlebar, replacing the clamp bolts with the...

    Getting under the hood...

Peter You are, as you usually are, correct in my labeling and mislabeling of "thread" and "section" etc. I apologize for not thinking more thoroughly about my word choice. As you and I know from our private messaging, word choice is critical for clear understanding. Thanks for clarifying; I'll...

    Getting under the hood...

Greetings I just noodled around again, not the first time, looking again, not the first time, at threads related to "ST spark plug." Here's an example of a fairly recent (2021) account: I just did the wire/plug change a few weeks ago. Took two days (panel removal and replacement and some...

    Getting under the hood...

Isoped Just read the thread you cited. Interesting. Not particularly useful to me, but still interesting. Baja Ron's comments were pertinent. Let's see: oil threads create a lot of heat and a little light. Tire threads, lots of heat and some light (I muchly appreciated the light as I bought...

    Getting under the hood...

I've searched and read a number of threads across the forum on plugs and cable replacement. The ST I ride is not well represented on the forum. the 998 engine, as a topic itself, has more entries, but it too isn't as well represented as the 1330. RTs and the 1330 engine seem to dominate. My...
