• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Think of changing from Freewheeler - is the Spyder any easier &/or safer?

Not even a close call in the ride, handling and ease of steering. All the Spyders have power steering. You definitely need to try one out. Think back to when you were a youngster with a tricycle and how easy they were to turn over. Also remember the 3 wheel ATC's that were pulled off the market...

Leaving Key in the ignition when home, any electrical problems with the Spyder?

Re a '20 F3 L I always leave the key in the ignition when locked up in my locked up shop in the back of my house within our 6' block fence with security when I am home. Other wise I remove the key when out. Will that cause an issue with the Key or anything else electronically. BTW, I have...

Your thoughts on When to change spark plugs?

Heck yeah it's the new 60.........I'll be 81 next month, and I still ride my motorcycles and of course my Spyder ....er.... rather spiritedly on all over the local mountain and hill roads. Going for a nice Spyder today after it warms up a little more, will be in the mid to hi 50's within the hour.

Your thoughts on When to change spark plugs?

I remember well that we used to sell BMW's to various HD riders and invariably they would come in with the new Beemer running rough or hard to start. We would immediately pull the plugs and they looked bad. HD riders were so used to running at low RPM because that is the way it has always been...

    Confessions on tour planning

I hate planning, mostly I have a vague idea of a desired destination. Turns out I prefer riding out west as I love the wide open spaces. Have not taken a trip on the Spyder yet, but dozens on my Beemers and HD road Kings. Coast to Coast, Border to Border and all over in between. This coming...

My new Daylong saddle by Russell

We started dealing with Bill Mayer, the designer and original owner of Mayer Day Long seats back in the early 70's. The original seat was a single saddle looking something like a padded tractor seat. Back then I had one of those on my '72 BMW R75/5. Most comfortable seats in the industry.

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

Have to watch those armadillos you know....................... A West Texas tune up is running your vehicle up to the red line thru the gears, ie full throttle thru the gears, thru the first four in any event. Helps to keep things cleaned out. Combustion chamber, rings, valves, fuel system and...

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

The combustion chamber design, the air/fuel flow design and flame front propagation are different on the two Spyder engines. The more current design of the later model 3 cylinder engines will allow for a lower octane rating under the same running conditions. An occasional good West Texas Tune up...
