• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dot 3 vs Dot 4 brake fluid - DOT 4 absorbs moisture, so don't o/look maintenance!

~ Tony -- you didn't say when your last brake service was performed and you have a 10 year old Spyder. At a minimum I recommend you buy two of your choice to ensure a complete change of fluid. Begin with removing fluid from the reservoirs (most not all), refill and then the wheel calipers. DO...

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

Concur with lvmyspyder: if you can find a riding class, take it even if you have to travel and pay for a motel overnight. When I was open tracking, I always saved money for an instructor even if I had to give up a go-fast part. Knowledgeable instruction followed by supervised practice is worth...

Strong gasoline smell after riding - is this common? Any fix?

It's hard to determine exactly where smells come from so you want to check both places: Left-side: PCV hoses and filter (inside the small rectangular box) Right-side: fuel hoses, especially the section between the fuel filter and the Y-fitting (mine had cord showing)

Hurricane Fried the Electronics - need to release Parking Brake! Ideas?

If the water level permits, remove the parking brake lever on the rear caliper by undoing the 13mm (1/2in) bolt. The Spyder will roll even if in gear because the clutch is engaged hydraulically. Sad to hear you lost your riding buddy.

Contemplating buying a Spyder - any reliability, power, and buyer's remorse issues?

CycleTrader says $14K to $20K for 2018 Gold Wing with most in $17-18K range so Yes you will be buying Used. Reliability largely depends on the previous owner, although certain years (eg 2018 had excessive LHS failures, brake switch in early 2nd Gen) had some issues. Generally, the 2014+...

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

Roger -- sad about your injury and glad about your recovery. The 1330cc engine is a sweetie. Within the constraints of its target consumers, it offers a fun riding experience for the more performance-oriented. In my experience in the mountain roads east of Descanso I leave my Spyder in 3rd...

Fuel rail pressure gauge connector. Anyone know the fitting type?

SS -- yep we're saying the same thing. Clarification for those watching. The 1330cc fuel circuit has both supply and return before the fuel rail. In my experience with automotive return-type pressure regulators, the return is after the fuel rail. There are advantages and disadvantages to...

New F3S Owner - is it normal for the gearshifts to be this loud?

While I'm an admirer of credit unions, they probably had your Spyder serviced through a 3rd party contract as they are financial experts not vehicle experts. I'd ask for more information about the service performed. Incorrect oil choices and amounts are not unknown, as you will see on this...

Fuel rail pressure gauge connector. Anyone know the fitting type?

Actually SS my understanding of my 1330cc fuel system is as follows: Fuel tank (supply) => Fuel pump => Fuel filter => Y-fitting (left leg) => Y-fitting (front leg) => Fuel rail => Fuel injectors Fuel tank (return) <= Fuel regulator <= Y-fitting (right leg) However later models might regulate...

I had a CANBUS failure - anyone else have experience with this?

Concur with Ron. You want this transient to be battery related. If your battery is 3+ years old, replace it. Be sure to charge it overnight before installation. If it isn't the battery, the 2018s have a problematic LHS Module/handgrip, which is a CANBUS node. Replacement is somewhat expensive.
