• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Bad news for H-D

Your suspicions would be correct. HD sells around 280,000 (give or take) motorcycles per year. This recall only affected 185,000 of those sold. They were ones specifically fitted with the defective saddlebag clip.

    Bad news for H-D

This was a minor recall. Mine was fixed yesterday. Four spring clips were the culprit. It took ten-minutes and that is because they took their time doing it. :D

    Spyder Just Died

If you are not riding it much, be sure to get a battery tender for it and hook it up when it is parked at home. You can get a good one for around twenty-dollars or so. It will help your new battery remain a good one for a lot longer.

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

I haven't heard others having the problem you speak of. This is the first I have heard of it. Most people reduce their throttle some on vehicles when manually downshifting; which is all that was meant by the comment. I honestly cannot remember if I put the throttle to zero on the Spyder...

I do not have the link for a service manual; but you can google it and you should find one. They typically are just copies made of an original manual and may not always be the highest of quality; but will work better than not having one at all. Ride often, safe, and aware, Illinois Boy

No offense, but it was assumed you would let the throttle go to idle for the auto-downshift. Glad you finally discovered that. The Spyder can be sensitive to conflicting inputs; such as holding a throttle on while braking. The Nanny will eventually shut down the system if it is repeated enough...

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

Pam, When you are in sixth-gear and cruising at highway speeds (60mph+) the 1330 engine will run at higher rpm's than most cruiser motorcycles. Nothing to worry about. It is quite normal. Rotax motors are designed for higher rpm's. Ride often, safe, and aware! Illinois Boy

No. Check your manual. It tells you the process for your model Spyder.

    Brian Williams Situation Now Ended

What does it take to fire someone these days? Do they have to commit murder on live television or something like that before being fired? This seems to be common sense that his credibility is completely ruined. Who could truly believe a word the man says from now on? However NBC is going...

New bag from Corbin for the F3 (Sneak Peak)

It is hard to see the leg clearance for a passenger's legs to reach the pegs. Wonder if their legs will hit the front of the bag. If so, will the angled edge bother them after awhile? Just wondering if thought was given that at all... or if they even care. ;)

    Ready to leave Harley

It sounds like the group of people you were riding with are not who anyone would want to run with. i cannot imagine what their combined IQ is. I cannot imagine having a good time with any group like that -- ever. However, bashing goes on here too. It happens anywhere and in many different...

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

You have a 1330 engine and it does not need to be operated at the higher rpm's of the 998 engine. Do not use the 998's recommended shift-points for your 1330. Most people shift the 1330 around the 2500 to 3000 rpm mark. That is about as specific as it gets with the 1330. So do not over...

Read the first post of this entire thread. It is updated constantly by me. There are certainly shifting suggestions for the 1330 engine.

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

Please re-read the information. A 1330 does not have the same rpm requirements of the 998 engine. The recommended rpm's for the 1330 are listed; and are provided as a result of many experienced riders' advice. The clutch "lock" issue is for SE clutches only, not manual clutches. This also...

Downshifting when approaching a stop sign with the V-Twin 990/998

    Not sure Why?

The picture is advertisement. If you click on the "show caption" on the lower left of the picture text about the Spyder comes up. There is a scroll arrow on these pics also so you can scroll through various pics of machines to include the Polaris. The article is not saying the Spyder is a BMW.

    Foremost vs. Allstate

Pricing is something you'll have to compare. Just make sure you are comparing apples to apples; where all features/benefits are exactly the same. Too many times there are differences in policy coverage which helps lower premiums. However, I had Foremost once and had an unbelievably great...

Time for me to ask opinions please. I don't ask for many so hoping to get many :)

Your answer lies in whether you feel there could be anything you could not fix, or would cost a lot of money if it were to break/fail before the warranty's end.

Clearly riding on gravel is an issue with any vehicle having part of its drive-train exposed to intrusion by any debris; however if you wanted to ride yours on gravel you could come-up with some sort of guard to prevent intrusion; at least for most of the time. There are a few who were on...
