• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is your opinion on the plastic oil pump gears?

The oil pump/filter assembly bolts to the front of the engine. The oil pump drive shaft is keyed directly to the front face of the camshaft. No gears. If the cam is turning, the oil pump is turning.

Anyone in the GA/TN/AL area with BUDS Megatech who can disable DESS on my 2009 GS??

I don’t know what’s wrong here. That’s the part number for an ignition switch, not for a DESS module. The DESS module is a separate unit from the switch. That’s right. IF you can get the module. Make sure you look at MY 2009 parts. Get the manual for the step by step instructions, also. BUDS is...

09 Spyder GS lost key - is it possible to program new keys to the Spyder?

If you have BUDS, then you should know that you can’t use BUDS to do anything with keys on a 2009.

Anyone in the GA/TN/AL area with BUDS Megatech who can disable DESS on my 2009 GS??

Mike gave you the correct part number. Not available. It would benefit you to take steps to be able to do work on Spyders without so much dependence on an Internet forum. Parts can be researched and ordered on sites like this; https://www.canampartshouse.com Service manuals can be obtained...

Anyone in the GA/TN/AL area with BUDS Megatech who can disable DESS on my 2009 GS??

His problem is that he doesn’t even have a working key to act as the source for the cloned key.

Anyone in the GA/TN/AL area with BUDS Megatech who can disable DESS on my 2009 GS??

Just to put a bow on this thread for future reference by anyone else, and because you have two threads going - you’ll have to take No for an answer. Can’t be done. You can replace a DESS. And you can program keys if you satisfy the right conditions. But, BUDS has nothing whatever to do with the...

09 Spyder GS lost key - is it possible to program new keys to the Spyder?

So, you’re kinda in a pickle here. What Peter told you in your other thread is correct. You can’t disable DESS 1.0 with BUDS. New DESS modules are showing not available. You say that you have a chipped key, and that this chipped key will turn the switch. But, you say that it is “not the chip...

Anyone else have a battery that's losing charge? '23 RT Ltd

OK. So now we have that straight. I had a 2012 for 10 years, let's get started. Back at the battery. On the positive terminal, there needs to be three, large, red wires connected. Two of them join together into a single terminal connector. One of those wires goes to the starter solenoid and the...

Anyone else have a battery that's losing charge? '23 RT Ltd

So Studio, are you talking about a parasitic discharge when the bike is off, or are you saying that the battery isn't charging when the bike is running? Which makes more sense to me being that you replaced the stator and regulator for some reason.

Where is the best spot for Jack placement?

Hey Vito. Well first, Thank you for serving and thank you for supporting the NRA. Looks like you are in search of ways to make things easier to add / check air pressure to that rear tire. Physical limitations or whatever. Don't blame you. Royal pain. A couple of things to consider. Crawling...

Is there a Canisterectomy for the 1330 engine?

No, don’t bother. But good question, though. The system has been refined for the 1330. The 3 cylinder engine is capable of dealing with purge valve operation. And the gas tank stays much cooler, especially on an F3, such that the canister doesn’t get overloaded with vapors, anymore.

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

Hey Solid, you need to help me/us help you. Your second picture clearly shows what I was describing as being excessive slack in the cable. I laid out the process to adjust that, and to put some spring tension on the cable as required. Once you do that, the cable will travel in a straight line...

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

Second issue first. That shifter arm has a notorious history of having the splines inside of it strip out and the arm comes off. It’s toast. Not gripping the shaft anymore. Plus you have to put it back on properly. Fuse F2, under the seat is for your TCM valves. Refer to your owners guide...

2020 RTL clutch surging when cold

Yep. I had the 998 in a 2012 for 10 years. I had to learn a lot of the quirks of the 1330, also. Mine does exactly the same thing. There's a Fault Code for just about everything that can happen these days. If there's a problem, it will let you know. Enjoy the ride.

I Killed My Battery - left it on a tender... New battery awaiting collection!

So, I looked up that battery tender. It is made for lead-acid batteries, only. Flooded cell, AGM, and Gell. As long as you are using it on that type of of battery, then you're fine. Just don't use it on a Lithium battery. It's actually a pretty good unit. If you DO decide to get a Lithium...

2020 RTL clutch surging when cold

Tom. If the motor is still in the elevated idle range, or the oil is still cold, it'll do that. That's because you need to raise the RPM a little higher in order for the system to engage the clutch. Remember that the clutch is operated by hydraulic oil pressure. In cooler weather, the oil is...

Any Full Synthetic oils that DON'T have issues with clutch slipping? RS V-twin motor

[B] And that’s why I asked, because that’s what I expected. The OP asked about, and started a thread about full synthetic oils. Negatively comparing the XPS Blend against a full synthetic, in the way you did without disclosing that, is misleading in the context of the thread. I’ll assume it...
