• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Not happy with brakes on 2011 RT

And that doesn't really happen either. My 12 had good brakes. Nothing to speak of as far as bite or initial grab, but progressive, just OK brakes. My 19 has the Brembo's. I expected more, but have to realize I'm not on a 500 pound bike. This thing will never stop like a fighter jet does landing...

    China & COVID-19 virus

I think you have to make your own decisions. I'll be thinking about where my purchases are from going forward. I recently needed plumbing parts for a home project. I had a choice of one product that was of China manufacture, one from Italy. I chose Italy. The other 5 parts, only one was MUSA...

    Front brake pads uneven wear

Diving into the brake pad thing a bit deeper, I've found out that the Brembo caliper is an off the shelf item, and is used on a few other motorcycles. BMW, Ducati, others. There are a bunch of options for pads and materials. Yes I know, BajaRon, EBC, Fully Sintered.... For those of you that can...

First ride on the '11 RT-S SE5/ report

Congrats. The 11 has smaller BRP brakes. They work but are not aggressive. You get used to it. New pads help, with the caveat that (unless changed now) EBC does not come with the clips for the front pads. You may have difficulty with moving the old clips to the new pads. You should already have...

Squeezed the trigger, and have a question

I've not ridden a Ryker, can't say. I did spend 7 years with the VTwin in a 2012 though, and it is far from a low RPM engine. You'll be singing at 70 or 80. It's fine though, it will do that all day long. The V is a busy engine, you'll know it through the bars, the foot pegs, the seat. Those...

    Throttle Lock Removed

For years on two wheelers I ran a large o-ring on the throttle side bar weight. Rolling that over into the gap between the weight and the grip with my pinky was very effective for maintaining speed while relaxing the hand. A simple twist out would overcome friction for slowing or stopping. and...

Which Gas to use?? 2013 STS 998 V Twin

Several threads on this topic. I still recommend Premium, from a high volume station, and top tier.

Best grease to use for lubing suspension

Redline CV-2. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/red-80402?seid=srese1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4dr0BRCxARIsAKUNjWTbsILLPKuQcE5F4jRcBIopKSjucmujTM__JN4aOVaNMpsh1h7JNfkaAudZEALw_wcB I agree with Baja on all points about synthetic grease.

    Stripped out handlebar bolt :(

Good luck. I installed that mount a while back. My bolts were tight, but I had really good allen bits on a 3/8 breaker bar. After the initial break, they backed right out with a ratchet. You have to have good bits though. Any deviation, wiggle, slop on the bolt, and you'll round it or deform it...

    BRP Jackets

I would be more tempted to get the jacket I wanted, with features I liked, (armor, Kevlar, fit, feel) and have the logo done by an embroidery company, vs. for something that wasn't perfect because it was BRP branded. https://www.merchology.com/pages/how-to-digitize-your-logo Thread Logic or...

    Sunoco Optima Fuel

Just bear in mind that marina gas does not have to meet any top tier requirements because it's not for road use. When a tanker delivery truck fills up, lets say a full load of 8600 gallons, about 860 gallons of ethanol is loaded first. Then one of the BOB's (CBOB, RBOB, CARBOB) is added, for...

    Front brake pads uneven wear

I thought the brakes on the 19 I purchased would be better than the 12 I traded in. I'm finding out quickly it simply isn't true. They should be. Brembo is a regarded name. I have 1700 miles on mine. The brakes squeak on application. The pads are not wearing evenly, even at this early stage...

Protect your TP stash from zombies

The whole zombie thing is easily solved by simply removing the legs of the corpse, and stowing them in the casket unattached. You don't see that part of the body anyway. Isn't that what were are doing now? Together apart?

    Bought a new toy

Nope, that is likely worth more now than when new to a collector. And yes, old LB mowers are collectible.

    great dog toy

A Mongolian belief is that dogs come back as humans, and certain experiences are imprinted on the soul that is re-incarnated. More likely you want one because you've already been a dog and know how much fun it is. I kinda think that any of us that like wind therapy were once pups, head out the...

    998cc 2012 RTSE Transmission filter

There are many YouTube vids about Helicoils. Basically, the hole is drilled slightly larger, then tapped with threads. The Helicoil is installed by screwing it in with a tool, usually using a drop of Loctite. The cross tang is broken off and removed, and the internal threads in the coil become...

    Scared, need some advice

Well, originally I thought this was a joke, but seems as though it isn't. First: You are working from remote from home, logging in. Your employer has to provide internet service that meets their requirements, including speed and VPN protection for their data. You should not be expected to...

    Sunoco Optima Fuel

Optima is an excellent storage fuel, but not necessary for daily use. Been around a while, proven track record. Run to empty, refill with Optima, sleep all winter, or however long your down season is in sunny CA.

    Checking oil quantity

One reason the twin used oil because folks followed BRP's recommendation of a 40 weight oil, and used the BRP 5w40. It would shear to 20 weight pretty quickly, and be consumed in various manners by the engine (air box, past rings). Wide spreads like that and shared sumps and you'll always see...

HowTo: BUDS diagnoses no contact in start button - my DIY Fix!

This is how I've always done it as well. On my 2012, if I shut off with the key, the radio would lose station presets, and tone control settings. Kill switch, then key, and always worked. The clock, OTOH, would never keep time. Always gaining.
