• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone tried Mobil 1 10W40 Full Synthetic Oil?

Sarcasm on.. What? No, can't be. Someone using an oil made, marketed, certified for an engine of a different type? And successful? Say it ain't so! Sarcasm off. Of course he has had no problems. And probably won't. Now I will say that there are oils that have a better VI component that won't...

Buying a Spyder, the good, the bad, & the ugly!

Laam can do whatever makes you and your SWMBO's booty happy. http://laamseats.com/ But if you lean toward the RT-L I think you'll find the stock seat is pretty good, and as I hear, the comfort seat option is, well, comfortable. She Who Must Be Obeyed

    Oil change light

I suggest you dive into researching "used oil analysis". I can assure you that at 9200 miles, your 40 weight oil will check in at a 20 weight. By 4000 miles, you are in the 30 weight range because of the shearing effects on the viscosity improvers in the oil. If everyone thinks that's OK, go...

Epic Fail : 2020 RTL Design Failure

My 19 got washed yesterday in a 45 mile long rain storm. The ride started off well. 83, sunny, vented jacket. Went through the front, dropped to 60, I was wet and chilly. Heated grips are nice. I had the force field disabled when I bought it because I didn't want a garage queen.

    Maintenance

If you have a choice, run the AmSoil. There is nothing wrong with it, and he would not be able to logically prove there is. It just ain't so. AmSoil has a huge following, a die hard customer base, and there is no way there have been "numerous problems" with it. I'm not a fan of the long drain...

New Spyder with Brake noise - will it go away with time?

I did everything to stop the squeak on my 19. Cleaning, filing lead edge of pads, blah, blah. Fixed with replacing pads and applying VersaChem to pad backs, and pressure tang that holds pads in place. A pad swap is easy and cheap, the calipers don't even come off. Various models of BMW and...

Buying a Spyder, the good, the bad, & the ugly!

I found my 2019 with 1600 miles and 6 months old for 6k off of a new current model. They are out there. Mine was spotless. Parked next the same color and year, unless you turned them on and looked at the mileage, you couldn't tell. Many owners of these are pretty meticulous. It is an investment...

    Oil change light

The Spyder does not have an OLM (Oil Life Monitor). No oil change light. Your 15 should recommend 9000 mile oil changes. I recommend you make believe the light comes on about half that.

    Favorite Music

Got tired of changing CD's about 5 years ago at Christmas for background music, so finally dove into the deep end and built a music storage and playback computer.Small form Dell, 1TB drive, dB Poweramp rip and conversion software and JRiver for playback. Love jazz and blues, grew up on Rush...

    Steering Bolt Stripping Prevention

No way I would attempt to remove with an allen wrench. Specifically, the 90 degree, black wrench from a multipack. I've used VIM bits for years, never failed. 3/8 drive breaker bar, VIM bit, mine broke loose and came out without drama...

    In-helmet music options

You can load music on your iPhone. HS Player works well, and allows direct import of FLAC files to the phone and hi-res playback. There are many lo-res MP3 solutions too. Or if files are Apple ready, ITunes can import to phone and Siri can manage playback through bluetooth commands. Or a...

    87 gas

Sort of. Premium fuel is more resistant to compression ignition than regular. It does have a slower burn rate but it's not really a factor in this engine. Using 87 in the Spyder and getting no ping or knock is because the ECU has retarded the timing, and probably lengthened injector cycle...

First ride on Spyder: 200 mile impressions

Agree, nice write up. And having owned a 2012, accurate. The twin will use some oil as stated. I'm alone in this camp, but feel the twin needs a 50 weight if using a multigrade. My best results in a used oil analysis came from cheap Havoline 20w50 conventional, but I did run several changes on...

Check Engine Light Bad O2 sensor need help

Walker Products 932-14062 for O2 sensor. About 2/3 the price of the OEM CanAm, which appears to be made by Bosch, (at least some of them... could vary).

    Ryker Spark Plug Upgrade

I agree the Iridium's would last longer. If that is the goal, go for it. But every bike I've ever put the XXXEK in has responded positively. BMW switched mid year moving from the common single electrode to the EK because the high compression and lean mix would have a dead hole in the twin. My...
