• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I Hate To Be Negitive B-U-T

You don't know me, I don't know you. I will say I am quite familiar with several "large, complex organizations function" though. While aware this will not change your mind, I've been on design, manufacturing, and service teams. I've created training for technicians. Written service manuals...

I Hate To Be Negitive B-U-T

I've purchased my second Spyder, and had full knowledge that my first one was designed on a cocktail napkin after several doubles of Beam and turned in like an overdue homework assignment. The OP mentions a level of quality for price. You are getting exactly that. Long wires, short wires, the...

Oil Analysis results - green OK check mark!

The only thing I see about the OP post number 1, is that the oil at 4200 miles is just a hair into the 40 weight range. It's holding up well, but watch for continued cST drop as miles add on. Looking at both columns, those oils do not appear to be the same. There are marked differences between...

    Cat delete baffle option

Agree. The ECU is not a learning computer. There is no T1000 terminator lurking in there. It's a computer program processing info from O2, temperature, and throttle position to calculate pulse width on the injector. Fuel trim is the result of the calculations and can give clues as to remap...

No discussions on oil lately. So maybe time!!!

Everything BajaRon said. I currently have Motul 7100 10w40 in my 19. I will be switching to the 300V 15w50 in the spring. Looking at specs, it barely nudges into the 50 weight range, and with the heavier base oil, should maintain viscosity well over the change interval, shearing into a 40...

I hate Squealing Brakes - any suggestions to stop them squealing?

The bubblegum stuff recommended will stop brake squeal for sure, but the next pad replacement will take extra time cleaning up. This stuff works very well, and brake cleaner washes it away. Water does not. This, and new pads, solved the squeal on my 19. To OP... who did the pads? It is possible...

2019 Spyder RT low oil pressure code

You continued on with a fault that told you to "Stop Engine/LowOil"? Something caused a loss of oil pressure, and that's what keeps moving components apart during operation. Open seat, check for oil on dipstick. Look for a puddle, or drips from the bottom of the Spyder. Hopefully its a wacked...

Kanine tires not certified by BRP

This type of dealership mentality is aggravating. I had to take my 19 in recently for a look see and document a noise. The mechanic told me I needed to have the oil changed and a first service done as well because close to 3000 miles. I declined, but we chatted a bit about oil and filters, and...

998cc After market paper element air filter?

http://www.bigbikeparts.com/templates/product.aspx?ProductGuid=5-402&GroupGuid=16 I don't care for K&N type filters. Oiled cotton does not stop enough dirt, and every one of them has sheds oil into the intake over time. There is a trade off for free flow and more air, and that is less filtering...

998cc Spyder neglected abandoned , Found it and i am bring it back to life

Vinegar is very mild. Citric acid ( I find mine at a health store) is a step up. Oxalic acid (Wood Bleach is what I use on rusted tanks or fouled up tanks. Mix up the solution as on the label for bleaching wood, and add a couple hand full of nuts. Shake that thing. The nuts will break the rust...

If Honda built a better tryke, would you buy it ??

Agree. Even if Honda was several thousand more, folks would flock to it, and Can-Am would have trouble with market share. I owned a BMW R1100RT, and a bit later on in my "career" I owned a Honda ST1300. The Honda was in many respects superior. The Honda was thousands less than the highly touted...

How critical is the 600 miles for first oil change - 998 cc

You are fine going a bit longer on the initial change. After you see sticker shock on the first service and oil change, start hunting up videos and learn to do the change yourself. Saves a bunch of dough. 998's do use oil, there are several oil threads here. You are safe with BRP oil changed...

    Torque wrench?

I have a Tekton that I like. It's very close to spot on, and has stayed that way with use. Remember to store unloaded, but not fully unloaded. I leave just a touch of pressure on mine so the spring is not free. https://www.tekton.com/1-2-inch-drive-click-torque-wrench-24340 The HF torque...

New Kenda Kanine Rear Tire for 2013 RT-S

Yes, yes, and yes. DIY is cheapest, the two piece is a PITA. And no balancing due to shaft size. I did the same with a General and NTB. All you need is balance beads. Start with an ounce, go up to 2. Or cheat and just add the bag at install time...

    Gave up on BRP connect

BRP Connect (Bluetooth Really Pitiful) is just a bad execution on a good idea. When you can buy an econobox car for under 20k that has Apple Car Play and/or Android Auto, there is zero reason this should not be a function of the hardware on the Spyder. Center GPS mount on LaMonster's offering...
