• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil - why would you use Rotella T6, a diesel oil, in your Spyder?

To answer directly, it's an oil that meets the specification, is priced competitively, and has a strong following. The rest of the answer is more complex. Just because it's a diesel oil does not mean it can't be put in anything else. That just means it is marketed and labelled toward a target...

Stabil Blue & Marvel Mistery Oil: Don't laugh!

Sorry, I disagree, and think you are living in a bubble. Today's pump swill is a commodity and made up mainly of unstable compounds from cracking heavier stocks and reforming lighter ones. Pump fuel will degrade at 60 days, gets worse going forward, and absorbs water immediately from the air via...

Noticed any (other?) improvements after the Front Sprocket Recall?

At least your dealer got a replacement pulley. I've gotten two notices from BRP, the second wondering why I had not responded to the recall and had the work done. No pulleys at the 2 dealers close. Their protocol is to remove, inspect, and moly grease the splines, and call it good. I refused...

Stabil Blue & Marvel Mistery Oil: Don't laugh!

Nothing wrong with MMO in fuel. MMO will keep the fuel pump happy, and injectors lubed up in the presence of ethanol in fuel. Nothing wrong with Sta-Bil over the winter. No reason for Sta-Bil if you are going through fuel regularly. How about this for a try... MMO and Techron. (Don't ask how I...

    Fuel type---

Fuel is a commodity. Refineries and brands trade fuels all the time. The distribution point closest to me is fed by Conoco/Phillips, Marathon, and Valero. All fuels are made to a specification, and wind up at the distribution point. The difference is only at the point of fill for the transport...

What tools would you put in a Medium sized Tool Roll?

Some inexpensive tools are actually pretty good, depending on application. Nothing wrong with a Harbor Freight set of wrenches for example, if you are only using them occasionally. If you make your living with tools, all bets are off. Those tools are an extension of your hands and knowledge and...

    Oil Change Question

No need to raise the rear unless you want to. Trans side you can pull quick, the engine side I pull partway, walk away and let it drain slow. If you pull it quick, oil will get inside the cover on the bottom of the frame and drip for days.

    Sad day.

Many things have changed since this jingle was written. No one seems to care anymore. The jingle was a staple on radio when I was a kid. "Bekins men are careful, quick, and kind Bekins takes a load off of your mind Moving heavy stuff or a fragile fixture A Bekins man is a moving picture We're...

Looking for a Spyder key cover with a hole?! Any ideas?

No disrespect to the retailer, but those are practically useless. You can't open the frunk with the key because it wont press deep enough (cover hits) and you have to superglue the halves together. I drilled key like recommended in LaMonster video. Works fine.

‘13 RT handle bar torx bolts too tight?!

This has been discussed before. You have to have a really good bit for removal, and you kind of get one shot at it. I use VIM bits, a 3/8 breaker bar, and a couple of good smacks with a hammer. Mine came out fine to install LaMonster's GPS mount...

    Coolant and oil

^^^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^^^ As far as coolant, I shy away from the AMAM type (all makes all models), and DexCool. It's my experience that coolant with 2-EHA can slime, eat plasticisers in gaskets, and turn bad under some conditions. Beck and Arnley Extended Life Pink, Peak Antifreeze and...

998cc Motor Oil - Is BRP's XPS 4T 5w40 safe to use in my 2011 RT?

Lots of threads on this topic buried in SL. Cliff notes, any wide spread XwXX rating has more of a tendency to shear. The 998 shears oil, shredding a 40 weight to a 30 in about 3000 miles. The same motor in the Aprilia uses 15w50 from the factory. For all practical purposes, nearly any 10w40...

Oil change before winter storage or after ? Your thoughts?

TBN (total base number)of oil gives an indication of the alkaline reserve buffer left in the oil. TAN (total acid number) of oil is the measure of acid concentration. Acids cause varnish, sludge and corrosion. You can speculate, but the only sure way of knowing if the oil is spent in your...

    RT 1330 MPG ??

OP, sounds pretty normal to me. I think the comment about filling the tank is correct. You need to pull the nozzle a bit and top off to almost the gate in the top of the tank. I don't think Seafoam is going to get you a thing at this point. No harm, but it's mostly pale oil and provides some...
