• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

Common in Utah and Colorado, where 87 is mid grade and typically 91 is high octane.

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

PMK: "Higher altitude results in less dense air, so less air compressed into the cylinders, corresponding to a lower compression ratio, which requires less octane." Less air compressed corresponds to or has the same effect as a lower compression ratio.. I did not state that it changed the...

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

Higher altitude results in less dense air, so less air compressed into the cylinders, corresponding to a lower compression ratio, which requires less octane. Therefore, not an issue. May be an issue with 85 in the tank at lower elevation.

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

Most likely using higher octane allows for maximum spark advance = longer burn time / more efficiency / more power...using lower octane has no issues with harming engine, as the knock sensor will retard timing, as necessary.

Thought I kept it simple in post 5

Is there a Cruise Control available for older model Rykers?

I bought a 2019 Kia Soul, base model, 6 speed manual, without cruise. I added cruise for <$100 by simply adding the steering wheel controls, since the ECM with or without cruise was the same. Do not know if Can-Am dealer can reprogram ECM or if new required. Searched for new ECM, but no joy

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

High octane fuel burns slower to avoid pinging, which may reduce MPG. However, if lower octane triggers the knock sensor, resulting in less timing advance, fuel economy would likely be less. Without a knock sensor, best to use the higher octane. With a knock sensor, there is the option of trying...

Questions about ryker fuel overflow locator

Apparently the factory is not consistent in the overflow tube length. Additional length may not be necessary.

Too cold for me and my Spyder

I will start a ride 40 something F, if the forecast is 50 within an hour, especially if sun is out (normal here). Photos from yesterday at over 8000 feet elevation. 75 years young next month and no heated gear

If it gives you comfort, but my temp gauge warmed up to 5 bars and then stayed there. Ryker cooling system seems very efficient.

Questions about ryker fuel overflow locator

The fuel neck overflow on my 2020 was sufficiently long. Had it not been, additional hose connected with a barbed connector would have been more than adequate. The only times I had overflow was due to a high flow pump at the filling station.

    Ryker Cooling Problem(s)?

What is temperature gauge reading? Once mine warmed up the reading was steady. A mechanical thermostat controls coolant flow. An electrical sensor controls fan operation. Sensors in this link...

Need to replace Camshaft Position Sensor, on back-order. Can I Repair?

Regarding JayBros suggestion about testing: The automation company that I retired from designed and built many automotive sensor production lines, both engine and brake sensors. All were tested, some not only ambient at also cold and hot. But proper resistance readings at the time of...

Which gps mount for Zumo XT on Ryker? What do you have?

Understood The Touratech site does have a manual link, but I did not see an explanation about the ball mount. Should be a matter of the correct bolt diameter, pitch and length. https://www.touratech.com/handlebar-mount-for-garmin-zumo-xt-lockable-black.html BTW, wife and I have been to...
