• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any thoughts on battery replacement? Change now or at failure?

A fully charged AGM is 12.8 volts / 6 = 2.13 volts per cell, so a failed cell will drop voltage to 10.67 volts as soon as load is applied, even if other 5 cells have overcharged. A good battery will typically drop under starter load to 11 point something.

Any thoughts on battery replacement? Change now or at failure?

Load test is good idea. A field load test is to measure battery voltage while cranking. Best to not be under 10.5 volts. • If lower, then battery is discharged and needs charging or • Battery has a bad cell or • Battery cable(s) have high resistance or • Starter is drawing too much current

Any thoughts on battery replacement? Change now or at failure?

Many battery manufacturers will cite a life expectancy of 5-6, sometimes 7 years; but that is climate dependent. In Las Vegas or Phoenix, 3 years is doing good. Operating in Arizona and Nevada, with ambient pushing 120 F, the original lead acid battery in my truck lasted 20 months Replacement...

Any thoughts on battery replacement? Change now or at failure?

Battery voltages Truck operated 12+ miles mid-day today: 12.79 volts (may be lower due to automatic dome and cargo lights, even though LED) Bike operated 10+ miles mid-day yesterday: 12.81 volts When we last had a second car and the truck operated infrequently, a weekly voltage check was down...

Any thoughts on battery replacement? Change now or at failure?

Sentinel, what is battery voltage: a. immediately after riding a few miles and shut down? Over 12.8 (AGM)? b. what is battery voltage the next morning, before power up? Not lower than 12.7 (AGM)? Measured in same manner. Without load, other than single digit milli-amps for ECU, etc, a reading...

Will Baker Built Air Wings reduce wind noise and buffeting?

Rick, I have never had a true windshield to comment, but I've had 3 Dart Marlin flyscreens (great for wind reduction/almost elimination on the chest) and the Can-Am Sport windscreen on the Ryker. I was comfortable at any speed and longer rides (1100 miles in 6 days) I am with Ziggy re likely...

Want ideas to get my Spyder on a flatbed pickup for hauling?

How did you secure the ramps to the truck bed? Did you load in reverse? Was it close to high centering as you transitioned from the ramp?

998cc The motorcycle turns off while parked or driving?

I'm with Mike. The only time prolonged start-up idle was beneficial was winter in Flagstaff, Arizona (7,000 feet elevation). My company truck was parked outside and it needed some time to defrost windshield. Otherwise, when cold, it is running richer...not the best for catalytic converters...

Any way to get around the Start up safety message?

My only Can-Am experience is with the Ryker, so my comments are limited: 1. It may require modification of the ECU 2. EFI bikes with ECU (ECM) require a "wake-up" time...similar to starting up a computer. On a bike, it is usually the time required for the gauges to cycle. Can-Am is just a bit...

    Bike won't start...

Now that it has sat for a while, you may want to try starting it before draining fuel. Then, if it does not start, drain the fuel. If there is water in the tank you may have to crank a while to clear the watered down fuel in the fuel line and fuel rail between the pump and the injectors.

How would you rate your Spyder Dealer?

I have dealt with two in the Las Vegas Valley: Two Yamahas and one Can-Am from one dealership, with all aspects of sales service, and parts outstanding; therefore a 10 rating. For the other one: One Honda, with service department mounting tires on that Honda and recently on my Triumph, another...

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

No worries, sometimes that happens to me when I post past my bedtime!... Especially as 75th birthday is less than 2 weeks away!! And a self-application of stupidity is not at all correct. Perhaps I should have chose a synonym to corresponds... I did not use same as, since it's not exactly...

    Bike won't start...

I would suggest pulling a spark plug and checking it for spark and fuel presence, if it wasn't such a pain to get to access!

    Bike won't start...

20 seconds may be enough for fuel to clear fuel rail and injectors, which could allow water to then be pumped; however that does not seem like enough time for water to settle to the bottom of the tank. Nevertheless, it does sound like water in the fuel.

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

Even with 300+ HP under the hood of a Datsun PL620, I advanced distributor when above 6,000 feet elevation.

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

At 1,000 miles per month and 33 MPG, the price difference for 30 gallons of fuel would be less than $15...a small price to optimize performance..not that I was concerned when 91 was not available...it will NOT "screw up the bike"

Gasoline question - will Regular harm the Spyder?

With respect for Bill's request "Not other rider's "opinions or preferences" Thank you"; I tried to state only facts. But for the record I ran 91 octane, except where not available (Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley).
