• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Cruise Control Headache (RTS) - Goes ON, but will not engage! Any ideas?

If the Cruise is "turning on" but not setting - like NavyDad - the first thing I would check is the brake system. If the Spyder thinks the brakes are on it won't allow the cruise to set. I just finished working on a customer's bike who had added some additional brake light and turn signal...

Is removing 1330 Water pump simple? How to drain/bleed coolant?

Thanks so much for this information. Very helpful to read info from folks who have done the job. Very unfortunate that you couldn't find a thermostat option. I was helping someone who's thermostat "housing" had blown out. They were hoping to replace the thermostat and do some sort of plastic...

There seems to be an abundance of 2019 RT's selling - what gives?

My wife rides a 2019 Spyder RT Limited Dark Edition. I work on all Spyders and Rykers as a hobby gig. Nothing wrong with the 2nd Gen RTs. I still like that style better than the 3rd Gen RTs (2020+). I like the ergonomics better in the 3rd Gen but the looks better in the 2nd. We've got 28k...

Spyderlovers - Facebook - Or Both?

You say biased answers, I incorrectly said biased question. Would you feel better if I had said biased poll? My point wasn't to rile folks up - just that asking "do you prefer the Spyder or Ryker" in a Spyder forum will yield Spyder as the result, just as asking the same question in the Ryker...

Spyderlovers - Facebook - Or Both?

I find a great deal of irony in the biased question. :-) You asked on Spyderlovers - of course the answers will be mostly Spyderlovers - those FB folks that prefer FB probably don't come here 1) at all or 2) very often - that's why they would vote for FB. LOL!

Rear suspension air line to Schraeder valve - what size line & fittings?

Easiest thing to do is to replace the rear shock with one that is much better - Elka, M2, etc. and unplug the compressor altogether. I've done this for quite a few customers. Historically I would go with an Elka Stage 4 shock configured for the customer at hand. I'm likely going with an M2 or...

Will this Can Am Seat fit my '08 GS? Or where to cross-ref part #'s?

The GS and the RS are the same model. Mid 2009 they started calling it an RS - prior to that it was a GS. Same as the RSS as well (RSS being a different trim of the same bike). That seat should fit no problem as it's designed for that model of bike.

Any non-dealers in Atlanta area who do oil changes?

As I mentioned - it's a hobby gig for me. Between my Day/Salary job, my trips, and my other obligations - I don't get to work on bikes as often as I'd like. I have a FB page for my "business" which was started more as a joke and exploded into this "hobby business" I have now. Wife and I have...

Any non-dealers in Atlanta area who do oil changes?

Not in Atlanta Area - so I'm not help to you but for comparison: I'm a hobby mechanic - work on Spyders and Rykers in my spare time - totally different than my Salary Job. I charge $100 for the "labor." That includes a review of the Spyder and the oil change, eyes on brakes, tires, pulley...

Considering a 2015 F3 Base - any obvious things for accessories?

The entire F3 line-up has the 1330, so they're all like your '14. The Base F3 and F3S have no stereo system stock, so if you want tunes, you'll have to add that. Being a Base F3, it'll have pegs unless already upgraded. I like pegs better myself, but if you are used to the RT, you might want...

Getting 2021 F3 Ltd in March... looking for mod/accessory suggestions?

A '21 F3 Limited will have the self adjusting airbag already - but yeah - 250# occasionally is noticeable. You can check out Elka shocks - not quickly self adjustable - but talking with them - they may be able to find a rear that would work in both scenarios. Lamonster Garage sells great LED...

Where besides dealers do you get tires mounted and balanced?

When I do tires for folks - I pop off existing weights and use 3oz of Balance Beads. What I believe BlueKnight was trying to say is that it's not critical to balance the rear. I agree with this statement. You have weights because the last person to put a rear on was able to balance it - but...

Do I need a black backing plate when replacing brake pads?

I've always been told the "shim" that snaps onto the back of the pad between the caliper and the pad face serves to quiet noisy brakes. I've read it can help with heat as well - though not convinced of that. Also, the tabs that hold it onto the pad are sometimes longer so that as the pad wears...

My '19 F3 needs 4.7L of oil - so why do kits come with 6 bottles?

Slightly confused so making a few assumptions. You have both a Ryker and an F3? Or you use to have a Ryker and now have an F3? Both take 5W40 which is what comes in the BRP branded oil change kits. The 1330 kit from BRP should be coming with 5 large bottles and 1 small bottle (in the US it's...

Can I use this Motorcycle Lift for Servicing my Ryker? Where to lift?

I wouldn't necessarily call them frameless - but sadly don't have that common Spyder staple of the center frame beam. Man I sure wish they did - that's so super handy for lifting the Spyder and sadly you can't get the Ryker up in the air the same way. Ugh! As you said though - that style...

New F3 - Will the F3T or L Bungee Net fit my rack/Saddlebag Mounts?

Not sure which bungie you are looking at on Slingmods - there are many brands of a simple "cargo bungie" - that usually has like 6 hooks on it - 3 on each side - something like that would work well to strap things onto your rack. The saddlebags - those look more like "Bag stays" - just designed...

Can I use this Motorcycle Lift for Servicing my Ryker? Where to lift?

This is the Ryker section - and the OP is talking about a Ryker. The Rykers do not have the same center frame rail that the Spyders do that folks use this jack on. For the Rykers - I typically run the front wheels up on ramps. Make sure you block the front wheels - and then you can raise the...

Looking for price advice for selling 2015 Spyder F3-S SE6?

Can't speak for California but in Indianapolis - as a guy who works on them as a hobby - I checked everything in the area out - and have my 2015 with 75k miles, stage 2 flash, shield, bags, speakers, etc. for $9k. I've turned down a couple offers of $7k - not that desperate to sell it.

Anyone else had this 'Key Failed to Read' Problem?

"Key Failed", "Bad Key", "DESS Error" - all the same thing. There's a crazy long thread on here about it - it's like 15+ pages long now. LOL! Short story - there is an electronic ring around where the key goes in - it triggers the key to report its RFID tag - and that's sent to the DESS Module...
