• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why is the engine braking so Weak?! Should I not use Eco mode?

I've found on Pikes Peak and Mt Evans Scenic Byway, along with a lot of other hilly roads, my RT has excellent engine braking; I just downshift as early as the situation warrants. It's my preferred method whenever I get stuck behind a cage slushbox driver who's never driven a manual transmission...

Spyder Adventures in Maggie Valley, NC

The NC DOT is repeatedly putting out information that I-26 and I-40 are impassable in several spots and the following quote: "We cannot say this enough: DO NOT TRAVEL IN OR TO WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA." My Bolding.

Spyder Adventures in Maggie Valley, NC

The pictures my daughter, an eastern NC resident, sent me show nothing but total devastation. I too have seen the NC DOT quote dlwilliams48 reported. This is the time any motorcycle rider should put their personal desire for a gathering with friends and acquaintances on some of the best riding...

How many times can a Spyder be turned on & off between tries without failure?

IMO, it depends on the age of the battery, it's key-off voltage at the time of the first start, the length of time it runs before each turn-off and restart and whether the throttle is blipped or held for a time at increased rpm above idle, and the key-off voltage before each subsequent restart...

Checked the oil before starting the bike and the dipstick was dry

Read your owner's manual for the proper way to check you oil. If you don't follow the instructions you're guaranteed to get an incorrect reading.

Are these the correct Battery Replacements? What about charging NOCO?

The Yuasa YUAM7250H YTX24HL is a factory fill battery. The specs from my owner's manual say the recommended charging rate is 2Amp. The factory fill replacement Yuasa, number as above, came with a note that it also had a 2Amp charging rate. YMMV.

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

Ann Meyer told me the Kenda rear tire that was changed back to the harder, longer wearing rear tread was, I think, 28/14 (mfg week stamped on tire).

So, how fast can a spyder go and safely make a sharp right turn at an intersection?

You should remember the words of the famous Sterling Moss: "It's better to go in slow and come out fast than to go in fast and come out dead."

    How Do You Ride?

IMO, the question could easily have been, "What is your freeway road strategy?" I would change the No Preference option to "No preference except to stay alive." Like many responders, I prefer not to ride the interstates, but there are times when I must make miles in limited time and have no...

Trying to install a Cyclops light from Spyderpops, NEED HELP!!!

Even if you had to leave your Spyder unbuttoned for a day or two until you could get information straight from Harvey it would be worth the wait. He's a straight up, very knowledgeable guy who stands behind every product he sells.

Do I need a pad spacer when Changing Front Brake Rotors?

Ted, you don't need any spacer to keep the pads apart. Just wiggle the calipers some and force them all the way back into the calipers. My pads needed changing so I put in EBCs along with the rotors. I was also needing a new rear tire so I did the pads too followed by a trip to Winston for...

    The Things You See

I'll ride with anyone who wants to go where I'm going when I'm going so long as their on-road behavior doesn't give us a bad name; I don't care what they ride.

Who wants a thread listing Dealers who'll work on older Spyders?

IMO, the 10 year refusal to service is because of the end of the 998 V-Twin engine Spyders. There may be some Tupperware replacement problems with the 2013/14 MY Spyders but have no idea of extent.

How does Can-Am Test New Spyders? Should I be concerned?

Stop and think about this for a moment. Is it possible that in the electronic setup of the Spyders that 113 mph was some kind of default setting? If not, do you really think multiple dealerships would have instructions to their service departments and mechanics to take out brand new machines...

New F3S Owner - is it normal for the gearshifts to be this loud?

Constant mesh transmissions, like those in Spyders and other motorcycles, all have a "clunk" sound when shifting from Neutral into 1st or, in the case of the Spyder, Reverse. It does no harm to the transmission. Once in gear, there is no more clunking when shifting amongst the gears.
