• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    We need another Tire thread

I found out that regardless of G forces, if you lift a wheel the Nanny takes action! In my case on the 2018 RTL it just chopped the throttle for a brief second, then went right back to WOT when the wheel started spinning again. Wheel speed sensors play into the equation.

Future Spyder Purchase - Due Diligence Search of Alternatives

In my opinion it's not the Rotax 1330 ACE that's the problem, those seem fairly reliable. It's all the poorly implemented and overly complicated subsystems that BRP has added to the bike which plagues the owners. That coupled with the fairly poor dealer experience makes the Spyder seem less...

Adding GPS to a 2019 RT Limited

You're going to get 2 different sets of answers here, those that use their phone to talk to the display, and folks that have mounted an old school stand alone GPS. I went with a Garmin 595. You have to get very specific parts to mount it, and if you're using the Tri-Axis adjustable handle bars...

    Rear wheel balancing?

I ran into this when my Kenda tire on the front couldn't be balanced. The dealer ran a line of crap on me about "dynamic" balancing being the only safe way, but when I got my Spyder back from a failed attempt at rebalancing the Kenda all the weights were on the rim center, meaning it was...

Rear tire sizing and possible gearing affects

Mr Troop, I am currently running the Vredstein 205/60R15 on the rear, and there is still a 1 MPH discrepancy at 70 MPH versus the GPS. Next time I may give one of the 215/60R15 tires a try, see if that evens it up.

bar risers/pull back bars for 2019 RT Limited?

I also wish for a better solution than the Tri-Axis, but that is what I'm using. The new 2020 models appear to have standard tubular bars though. Just a thought.

    Rear tire removal

I've done it both ways, and pulling on the nut side while pulling the wrench towards you will almost always result in the axle shifting and the belt running out of alignment. I now use a small ratchet strap on the right non drive side to pull the axle forward to keep the adjusters seated, the...

Here's what we've done for Rear Tires!

I did all this math when I was swapping over, and found the Vredestein 175/55R15 front and 205/60R15 gave a total diameter change of only 1.4% overall front and rear. I wanted to keep the rolling diameter ratios close to OEM so it would have the least impact on the Nanny.

    Rear tire removal

Mr. Hokiev, Mine is a 2018 RTL, but the info may be the same, depending if the axle nut is a tight fit to the muffler. I use a Kobalt Metric 1/2-in Drive 12-point 36mm Shallow Socket P.N. 338135 for $8.98 (Lowes). It's short enough to get between the muffler and the axle nut on my RTL while...

Do we like modular helmets or not???

Have you ever noticed that other than comfort, fit, and style, the only folks that can actually comment on a helmets performance (other than testing labs) are those that have been in the worst kind of accident where their melon actually hits something? I find it's also pretty hard to find an...

    Suspension fault C210A

When I made my rear shock adjustable I ran into this code. I'm not half the technician Mr. billybovine is, but I did stay at one of those hotel brands that claim to make you smarter just once. Here's what I gathered, all without BUDS. Your automatic rear leveling system has 2 parameters...

    Marketing failure

I think the market will naturally increase with the aging of motorcycle riding people. Like me, they will eventually become unable to ride 2 wheels, then they make the choice. Quit or go 3 wheels. Not too long ago trikes were almost entirely a custom proposition. Now they are in a few of the...

Do we like modular helmets or not???

What do the modular ones weight currently? I'm in the damaged neck category, and the heavy helmet syndrome not only makes me have pain, but stuff on my body goes numb and quits working:yikes:!

I may be wrong, but I don't see a signature?

Can am spyder exhaust internal view from RLS EXHAUST

No wonder that thing weighs so much. I took mine off an immediately though if I could get a muffler that quietened the Spyder down as much, but weighed only half, I could probably pick up a mile or two per gallon. Anyone know of such an item?

    Pressure on new Vredestein tires

I did take time to read some studies on hydroplaning, and they did indeed point to higher inflation pressures, deeper tread, and more axle (wheel) weight as resisting hydroplaning better. Lower pressure increases the contact patch, so the larger area will lift sooner. However, in other studies...

    Pressure on new Vredestein tires

PinkRosePetal, So are you running OEM tires, and if not how did you determine the correct pressure to run in the tire you installed? I struggled with this mightily on my initial car tire installation.

    Tire gauge and pressure

One simple way to address repeatability on a collection of gauges is to measure a known pressure with all the gauges in your possession and dispose of the ones that don't agree with the majority. Measuring instruments by nature are most accurate in the 50% range, so measuring a tire with 18-25...

    Pressure on new Vredestein tires

I can only speak for myself and my 2018 RTL. I use 16 front and 18 rear on my Vredesteins (one up), and that gives me the most comfort. Some run their pressures higher based on a slight handling improvement and less steering effort, but I like the smooth ride.

2018 RTL - Parking Brake not releasing again

So far on my 2018 RTL I've had it in for warranty repair twice for the same parking brake issue. First time was for left switch pack replacement (I heard this was a known issue with a bulletin on it), which didn't correct the problem. It happened again, so it went back in for warranty repair...
