• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Disinfectant alternatives

Mr. Mike, I think he was serious. I have in fact done exactly the same thing. It is more expensive than rubbing alcohol, but Everclear and Diesel branded 190 proof alcohol for consumption is 95% pure and makes for an acceptable sanitizer. I use 75% alcohol and 25% Aloe gel to make hand...

    Seeking information

Not sure about the enclosed trailer, but am absolutely sure about hauling anything on an open trailer with a cover. I won't do it. Had a buddy that hauled a new shiny Harley home across 2 or 3 states on an open trailer with cover. installed To his horror, when he removed the cover he...

    Missed the location. Sorry.

    2 up rear shock?

I see you ride a 2015 RTS, does that model have the air bag? If so, when choosing a spring for 2 up make sure you don't over-spring it. If you put enough spring on there to carry the full weight of 2 passengers with minimal air in the bag your ride will be rather stiff if solo. I did a rear...

    2018 RT shifting paddle

I must have lucked out. My 2018 started having repetitive parking brake failures early on, so the fix was to replace the left hand switch pack, which I believe included the shift switch. Smooth shifting and no brake problems since. Must have killed 2 birds with one stone so to speak.

    intermittant vibrations @ highway speeds

Mine had that exact problem. I would notice the vibration occurring at the very start of a hill, but if I added throttle or slowed slightly it would go away. It has to do with the belt length and load/speed the belt is running at. When my belt was at maximum spec for tension it was a nasty...

Pure confusion - what fuse to run for O2 Concentrator?

I believe the consensus was to run an appropriate sized wire and fuse. Maybe install one of the very nice fuse blocks available with both switched and unswitched fuses...

Belt Tension Here are a couple of pictures for the belt tension. One is the TST from 2015, the other is from the Technical Specifications at the rear of my service manual. You will see that the tensions can be set considerably lower than the dealerships say. You hve to convert Newtons to...

    Thread Locker (Locktite)

If you think that's bad, you should have tried to ride one of the Harley brand motorcycles before rubber mounted engines became available. Parts continuously falling off, even with the use of Loctite. I had started using the red one to prevent it. I attribute at least some of my nerve damage...

    intermittant vibrations @ highway speeds

Mr Monk, My Spyder had a harsh vibration from the showroom floor. It occurred at the start of a hill, or when changing throttle to a light load. Very load dependent. After much gnashing of teeth and reading, I bought a Krikit II and tools to set my tension to the lower specs. I stair stepped...

    Handlebars

I have a 2018 RTL and the bars are totally different from the current 2020 models. The new ones have a bar somewhat similar to a regular round motorcycle bar, but with bolt on ends. The previous version of the RT and RTL all had a contraption that was very much specific to the model (aluminum...

As an addendum to this, under the "go advanced" option, located in the manage attachments dialog box, you will find the recommended sizes of the files allowed by the site. Thanks Peter for remembering that for me!

    Posting Photo's?

Depending on your equipment here's my simple recipe. Take the picture with a small point and shoot. Put in an album on the PC. Open with MS Paint or some other program that allows simple resizing and downsize the original image until it's small. Save a copy on the PC. Then start/open the...

    Posting Photo's?

I initially had issues with this, but found a couple of things that make it real simple (for me). I found the size of the picture can't be too large (somewhere around 180-200 Kb), but I can't find the reference right now for the life of me. I has to be really small to load, if it's too large...

    Dealer brake fluid change

Does it require BUDS to get fluid out of the ABS bleeder? Trying to decide if I should get that bleeder also. As my addition to this topic, I just went and checked my Brembo calipers and they were non-magnetic. I'm guessing aluminum? Anyway, installing any kind of stainless into an...

    Low coolant level

After having to add coolant a few times with no real apparent leakage, I finally found some coolant in the belly pan. I thought it was the hose clamps as that is where it was most prevalent, but it turned out to be a bad water pump.

    2020 RT Brake Position Issue

That's impressive. Significant reach improvement for us shorter stature guys. Also answers the question about if a normal motorcycle handlebar will fit. Apparently not without heavy customization.

    Headlights, keyed. Why?

Load shed is relay controlled power to stuff like lights and such. It minimizes power draw until the relay gets the run signal from the engine. This helps it to avoid the dreaded low voltage codes, which seem to be varied and many if the battery voltage falls to below 10.5 for any reason. The...
