• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Rotella T6 mileage ?

Rotella is an oil designed for a heavy duty diesel engine. Do you think they change it at 5K miles? Not being a truck driver, I would only have to assume that they change it at extended intervals. Changing oil on short intervals is just an unneeded precaution.

Helmet Life. What should we expect?

The part that he is talking about is glued in. No manufacturer is going to sell the parts and expect the consumer to reinstall it properly. The liability would be huge. I ride about 20K miles per year and typically wear a helmet out in 4 years. I take the liner out and wash it at least twice a...

Group Rides - Tail Gunner ???

Our group has a mix of bikes. We try to keep a group to 6 bikes with a tail gunner for each group if we have more than one. We ride about 1/2 mile apart in each group. The responsibility of the tail gunner is to Sheppard the riders in front of them and to become the "bread crumb" if the 2nd...

    GW Trike vs Canam (Trike)

Honda GW has the Gold Book & BMW has a similar book. These books are published annually. Members can volunteer contact information and what they are willing to do for fellow riders. Anything from a cup of coffee to a trailer to a full out shop. Some even offer a place to camp. Does the Spyder...

    Jeans or regular moto Trousers?

Take a look at Motoport. They custom make them to fit correctly. Yes, they are a bit more expensive than an off the shelf pair but they have a 7 year warranty. This past year I had lost enough weight that I needed to have them resized. Sent a pair of jeans in with the pants and 3 weeks later I...

    Jeans or regular moto Trousers?

How does the Bohn hold up? They have always intrigues me. I currently wear Motoport mesh riding pants with full armor.

    Jeans or regular moto Trousers?

I guess I am confused. Just because you ride a Spyder, you don't need the hip and knee protection? I am not understanding your logic at all. A kevlar liner doesn't offer any protection from the impact with the road. Crashing sucks and you want all the protection you can get.

Towing your Spyder between two homes

    1. Aluminum isn't all it is cracked up to be either. I own an Aluma trailer and have had it welded twice because of stress fractures. I wouldn't let steel be a game stopper. 2. I do agree that a single purpose trailer is a bit of a waste unless I can fit a bed on the runners to get multi...

    1330cc Too much wind.

We live about 200 miles from California Scientific in IA. I spoke with the owner on the phone and plan to ride down when the weather is gets better. He will have multiple sizes on hand that we can ride with to get the correct fit and see if they do make a difference. I am also considering one...

    Ucomfortable corbin seat.

The only time I have ever ridden on a Corbin seat, it felt like a torture chamber after a couple of hours. I think you can add a gel pad to about any seat. My experience with a gel seat has also been iffy. It worked for one seat and didn't for the 2nd seat.

    Newbie Confused About Luggage

We purchased the Bestem directly from their website for less than we could through Amazon or Ebay. Very nice quality. One saddlebag liner actually took a 70 MPH spill down the highway when my wife didn't get the latch fully hooked. Held up great.

What is your definition of "warm enough to ride"?

I have ridden in the teens but am not a fan even with heated gear. Several issues come to mind. 1. Water freezes at 32 degrees. All it takes is some guy to toss the cold coffee out the window at a stop sign and you have black ice. Even though you are on 3 wheels, you can still do the curly...

    Spyder RT Limited Questions

The Spyder is my wife's bike. I only ride it on occasion. Getting used to it took me about 10 miles to get used to riding it. I rode a lot of snowmobile as a kid and these handle very similar to me. It took my wife about 500 miles to get used to it. She wasn't a snowmobile rider like me. I have...

    waterproof boots

I am still on 2 wheels. My wife rides the Spyder. This might be different on 3 wheels. I bought a set of the Sedici boots at Cycle gear. They were very comfortable boots but after 1 season the soles were gone and I had holes. Found a set of BMW boots on closeout 3 years ago for $199 and they...

    Map Apps

I have used Waze, Google Maps, Apple maps and a few other free APPS. The problem is that they are all cellular based. I was in Virginia last summer about 40 miles from Richmond on a 4 lane highway and none of these Apps would work. Ended up driving about 20 miles out of the way before I could...
