• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Completed the onerous chore - added air to the rear tire!

I use the FOBO2 Bike system on my 2021 RT, and I am really glad that I can check my tire pressures just by looking at the app on my phone. This is especially true for the rear tire. Well, after sitting in my garage unused since November, other than a brief ride on March 1st, I was ready to go...

Is it worth taking the Can Am riding class?

Thanks for the comment. I've taken the MSF rider course more than once, and I taught it as an MSF Instructor for 10 years. Having the Spyder as my only motorcycle over 149cc, I used it for my license renewal in 2021. But unfortunately here in IL, by taking the test with the Spyder, my license...

Is it worth taking the Can Am riding class?

I've been riding my Spyder RT for close to 2 years now, following almost 40 years riding 2 wheels. I had no trouble getting used to the Spyder after the years of motorcycling on two wheels (other than to stop riding in the left third of the lane as I always did on 2 wheels) and couldn't find...

First Service Done & it feels smoother! What did they do?

I know it isn't rational, but my Spyder, just like my cars, runs better after it is washed and has a full tank of gas. I clean the windscreen on the Spyder after every ride. I can't stand for there to be bugs or dirt or whatever on the screen and I'd swear that the bike runs less well when the...

Is another extended warranty worth it? Where from?

Personally I agree with Consumers Reports that advises against buying any extended warranties. You are gambling on having a major problem, and more often than not the company selling the warranty is the one that wins. The only extended warranty I have bought in the last 20 years or so was on my...

Anyone else a loner and not a group rider?

I ride almost entirely solo, with or without my wife as passenger. I have no love for large group rides, but I do enjoy a day ride with a few others. Even though I ride a Spyder now, I am still a member of what used to be a chapter of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Group rides usually...

Call out Video to Can Am On Road

Its not that I want to pay more, its just that saying "the price is too high" is just a personal decision. To me, $1 would be too much to pay for a professional quality surfboard, because I do not surf. My wife, who dislikes guns, would not pay $1 for a brand new Henry lever action rifle that I...

    First ride of the season

I was very pleased with Loves Park Motorsports. Very straightforward and helpful. They gave me the trade in value that I asked for on my 2016 Goldwing (I asked for Blue Book value), and were very thorough on orienting me to this new vehicle. I have been in twice to the service department, once...

Call out Video to Can Am On Road

I stopped watching the video after just a few minutes of your focus on prices. Price is always arbitrary to some degree. Saying that these base prices are too high is just your opinion. When I bought my new RT in 2021 it came to just about $24,000 out the door, all taxes and fees included, and I...

    First ride of the season

That first ride on March 1st is the only ride I have been able to have. The weather has turned colder again, with a sizable snow storm expected tomorrow. When I was younger I would go for a ride as long as the roads were clear and the temps above 32. As I got older that temperature minimum moved...

Here's an article explaining Back Pressure BS!

I always have thought that there is something pathetic about those intent on making their motorcycles as noisy as possible. Those riders are not content to enjoy the ride itself, but need the attention of others, even if it is negative attention, by creating as much annoyance as possible. And of...

    First ride of the season

March 1st, 50 degrees and no rain. Went out for the first ride since late November. It felt really good to get the RT on the road again. I only went for a short ride of about 25 miles, a bit over half an hour. Riding season for me has now officially begun!

Need a better place to put Battery Tender lead - Ideas?

I don't find it a big deal to open the frunk and hook up the Battery Tender. I leave the cover off the battery and the wires easily available. When I stop for the night and want to hook up the tender, I always open the frunk anyway because that is where I throw the gloves and place the helmet...

Lowest tire pressure you would allow when starting out for a ride

I normally keep the tires at 20 in front, 30 in rear, 2 pounds over the recommended level. That pressure just seems to work well for me. But while I don't mind checking and adding air if needed in the front tires, the rear tire is a real PITA for me. With my bad shoulders and prosthetic knees...

How do you handle different tire pressure readings?

I've only been riding motorcycles for about 35 years so maybe I am not as familiar with this stuff as some others, but I just trust the FOBO 2 readings. I inflate the front tires to 20, and the rear to 30 (as measured by the FOBO 2) and then regularly look at the app on my phone to check that...

Helibars: Are they really Worth $629?

When I owned a Goldwing I knew several other owners who had spent the bucks to install Helibars on their bikes, and not a one of them ever said that they regretted doing so. When I bought my 2021 RT new I found that I was having to lean a bit more forward to reach the bars than was comfortable...

Did you consider a Piaggio MP3 before getting a Spyder?

The new ones have a reverse gear, cruise control, and rear facing radar to warn you of a vehicle rapidly approaching in adjacent lanes. I am very happy with my 2021 RT, but there is a Piaggio dealer not too far from me and I might have tried the MP3 if I had even heard of this model when I...

Did you consider a Piaggio MP3 before getting a Spyder?

I must admit I know very little about the Piaggio MP3, but just looking at it online made me think that it would be worth trying one out. As a 3 wheeler it looks like it offers stability similar to the Spyder, although the shorter separation of the two front wheels likely makes it not quite as...
