• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dealer says Demo Rides are not possible - any suggestions?

I'm amazed that any dealer can stay in business if they do not allow for demo rides. I was a 2 wheel rider for almost 40 years when I decided I either needed to go to a lighter bike (lighter than my 900 pound Honda Goldwing) or go to 3 wheels. I was mentally not really ready to go to 3 wheels...

Has anyone installed modulator head lights?

I used modulating headlights on several bikes that I owned from about 2009 to 2021. There was no doubt in my mind that the problem of cars/trucks turning left in front of a motorcycle was greatly reduced through the use of the modulator. It is just difficult NOT to see the flickering light. When...

Tired of the sissy wave by other riders

Some folks are just too sensitive for their own good. Just enjoy the ride. Why would anyone care if strangers return a wave or not? Those that tell you that you are not a "real" motorcyclist because you ride a 3 wheeler are probably the type of faux rider who goes from home to a bar, parts his...

Having difficulties properly Filling the gas tank!

It must be related to the interior shape of the gas tank, but when filling my 2021 RT, even with controlling the fuel flow to a modest level, the pump clicks off far before the tank is full. Today when putting gas in, the pump clicked itself off at 3.6 gallons added. I gently kept the pump...

How do you explain what riding is like?

Riding offers a sense of freedom that no enclosed vehicle like a car or truck, or even a convertible can offer. I liken it to the feeling that I had a long, long time ago riding a horse out into the desert north of El Paso, TX by myself. The sense of independence and freedom of those rides, with...

Has anyone given their Spyder a "Name"???

I still don't understand the rationale for naming inanimate objects. If I owned a boat I would call it "the boat". I call my SUV "the Durango", my Mini Cooper "the convertible", by Subaru Outback "the Subaru", my Honda scooter "the scooter" and my 2021 RT "the Spyder". My brother has a neighbor...

Is there a brake light recall now?

I entered my VIN but I'm not clear as what the search is telling me.

Check out the New Garmin Zumo XT2

I very rarely take more than day trips, and I'm not sure what this would do for me beyond what I can get for free from Waze or Google Maps or similar apps. Right now I don't think its worthwhile for me to spend $600 for a gadget that I would have to remember to take with me whenever stopping and...

Is there a brake light recall now?

Spyder recall CoachBob on You Tube started his video with an announcement of a Can Am Spyder recall, 2023-6, to fix a problem where the rear brake light would stay on even after you stop braking. According to what he announced, the recall will include my 2021 RT, but as of yet I have not...

    Fuel octane explained.

I'm not an engineer. I respect those that designed my RT and if they say that I should use 91 or higher octane, that's good enough for me. My Spyder is a toy for my pleasure. I could have bought a far less expensive little motorcycle if the cost of fuel was my main concern, or I could just ride...

Is Reverse A Low Gear, Or Higher?

9 mph is pretty fast for Reverse. I find the system in the Spyder to be far superior to the Reverse feature that I had on my Goldwing, where it uses the starter motor to move you at precisely 1 mph, no faster nor slower. It tended to feel very jerky, unlike the Reverse on the Spyder which feels...

Another tire pressure thread - why didn't BRP include TPMS?

My guess is that if Can Am added a TPMS system it would add more in price than it costs to just buy the FOBO2 system which works so nicely. The only real hassle of the FOBO2 is the need to change the batteries periodically.

Re TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS. Which one?

I also use the FOBO2 and found the batteries that came with the unit lasted two years before it showed on the phone app that they were in need of replacement. I really like having this system in place because it saves me the considerable effort of checking the rear tire pressure. I find that the...

What are you all using for Phone Holders on the handle-bars?

The Can-Am Center Mount/Short Reach from Motorcycle Dave's, which attaches to the center mount of the handlebars in lieu of one of the four bolts that holds that center mount works outstandingly for me. I have real confidence in this all steel phone holder and use it every time I ride my 2021...

Having problems getting insurance in Canada - who do you use?

I use Progressive, but I live in the U.S., not Canada. It seems odd to me that an insurance company would be hesitant to insure a Spyder but would insure a two wheel motorcycle. I might be wrong, but I assume that the 3 wheel Spyder (and Ryker and F3) all have lower rates of claims than do...

    ChatGPT knows little about Spyders

Just to see what it came up with, I asked ChatGPT if the Can Am Spyder is a motorcycle. It essentially said no, saying that the Spyder has a steering wheel and is more properly called an autocycle. I went to my garage to look for the steering wheel but someone must have taken it and replaced it...

Those of you that Concealed Carry on your Spyder, what type of holster do you use?

Carrying in other than Condition 1 limits the effectiveness of such carrying. And no one needs to know that you are carrying. Be the "gray man".

Those of you that Concealed Carry on your Spyder, what type of holster do you use?

Always concealed, never open carry. Either a small revolver in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster in the right front pocket of my jeans or an OWB holster, appendix area. Drawing and using your gun while riding is more Hollywood than reality. You want to be able to stop, dismount and quickly...

What bike did you ride to get your motorcycle license ??

For new riders, consider taking the Basic Riders course offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, which is certainly a worthwhile thing to do. Not only will you learn the basics of riding, but in many states, including WI and IL, both of which where I taught that course for years, passing...
