• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

It will cost me $1500 - don't make the same mistake

Pulling rather than pushing can't do any harm.

    What's your helmet of choice?

Wearing glasses, a modular is really convenient as compared to a traditional full face. As I said at the start of this thread I use a Shoei Neotec, but its not practical to use it with the chin bar in the up position (nor does it offer good protection that way). I'm intrigued by the Shark Evo...

    What's your helmet of choice?

In hot weather I wear a Nolan N40, but I can't say I am thrilled with the feel of this 3/4 helmet. For colder weather I use a Shoei Neotec, a modular that I am mostly happy with. But I guess I am always searching for the "perfect" helmet that will be comfortable, protective and reasonably quiet...

Is Hicklin Power Sports in Grimes (Iowa) a good dealer? Looking for new or used F3

Where is this "Vendor list" that you are referring to? I find nothing on the Home Page.

    Texting while riding - rant!

Not all group rides are alike. And group rides of Spyders probably include many if not most who had not been riding motorcycles prior to getting their Spyder, and have no experience with the normal protocols of riding in a group. Even those who used to ride motorcycles may not be good group...

    Can-Am all-electric Motorcycles grand reveal

Electric vehicles pose a real challenge for society, whether we are talking cars or motorcycles. Its unlikely that anyone will invest in the construction of enough charging stations to meet the needs of electric vehicles if those vehicles become a significant percentage of what is on the roads...

Just rode my new 2022 RT home - got a lot to learn!

I found that I was relatively comfortable on my RT, after years on a Goldwing, within just a few minutes. It took a bit of time to stop reaching for the clutch lever and the front brake lever and to get used to the feeling of steering around curves rather than leaning and countersteering. But...

Would you buy a Chinese motorycle?

China is America's primary adversary, and someday in the not too distant future might well be our enemy in an armed conflict. Every company operating within China is tied to the Chinese Communist Party, and therefore the Chinese government to a greater or lesser extent. I know that I cannot...

Is it OK to put new battery on tender all winter that has never been used?

Some here are using the terms "battery tender" and "charger" as if they are the same thing, which they are not. The Battery Tender is made to leave on the battery, even for extended periods like a winter season. It will keep the battery at full charge but will not overcharge. Like some others, I...

Stupid Question: Ideal RPM to shift gear?

What do you mean by "best" in terms of when to shift? Some might say "best" is when it is more fuel efficient. Some might say it is when power is maximized. Anywhere above where the engine lugs, and up to redline is ok to shift. Personally I have no idea at what rpm I normally shift, although I...

Is there any real data regarding the safety of the Spyder vs traditional motorcycles

The Spyder will not tip over easily, as does a 2 wheeler under various conditions, but a very slow speed tipover is not likely to result in any type of serious rider injury in most cases. After a year of riding a Spyder I have the strong feeling that I am overall much safer on this large, 3...

Double D Ring vs Ratchet Straps...What do you prefer?

I've used the double D system for 40 years, but I will admit that the ratchet on my newer Nolan helmet is quicker to put on, and certainly quicker to take off even with gloves on. But I have had on occasion the feeling that i can't adjust it to the tightness that I want. As close as the ratchet...

Recommendation for cover that is reasonable in cost

The cover from the Carcoverfactory.com arrived and I put it over my RT. Its certainly large enough, easily covering the entire RT. It is not a tightly fitted cover, but that is OK and makes it easier to fit over the bike. It seems to be of good quality material and I am pleased with it, and...

Recommendation for cover that is reasonable in cost

I like a bike to be covered even when stored in a garage. Most years I just pull off the cover when Spring arrives, disconnect the Battery Tender and check the tire pressures then ride off on a relatively clean and shiny bike. Plus, it makes walking past the covered bike a little easier to keep...

Recommendation for cover that is reasonable in cost

I found something that I think will work better than a sheet, which would be subject to blowing off when it is windy and the garage door is open. Its from a company called CarCoversFactory.com, and is intended for indoors for my RT. $65 with shipping included. Once it arrives and I put it on the...

Recommendation for cover that is reasonable in cost

My Spyder is now put away for the winter in my garage. To keep it from being overly dusty come Spring, I would like to find a cover that will completely cover the RT, but I really do not want to spend a fortune. Right now I'm using the cover that I previously used for my Goldwing, but it...

Do I really need a GPS?

My opinion is that the primary advantage of a GPS device is the larger screen than a typical smart phone. "Dead spots" with weak or no cell ocverage used to be a major problem but not in recent years. That said, I have been in places in the Far West where I had no cell coverage at all. I think...

Did you keep your bike stock ??

Yes, almost totally stock. I had the dealer add a passenger back rest to my RT when I bought it, and I put foam covers on the handgrips. Other than that I didn't feel any need for modifications. I just remembered that I did add a riser to move the handlebars a bit up and back. Other than that...

Still riding weather in northern Illinois

But do you enjoy riding when its 24F? Personally the fun is totally gone when its anywhere near that cold, regardless of how I dress or the electric heating on the bike. On a sunny, calm day I might want to ride when it gets colder, but not anywhere near 32 degrees.
