• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Bells! The Bells! (Nice Touch!)

I enjoy them when I type. You can also sweep your cursor across the ornaments at the top of the page to get them to ring. But if you don't like them, just turn your speaker off (or down) and they will go away.

Here's a recent Ryker Filter Failure!

No damage. Though I'm not sure it was filtering well. The broken plastic/epoxy portion was down in the filter itself. But it could be it fell in there when we pulled it out.

Here's a recent Ryker Filter Failure!

This is a BRP factory oil filter we pulled out of a 900 Ryker Rally. Pretty disturbing. We've done a number of oil changes on Rykers, & Spyders for that matter. Have not seen a filter failure of any kind, OEM or Aftermarket, since the BRP OEM filter fiasco in 2012.

Anyone know if the OEM Swaybars on F3's are stiffer than RT's?

I confess to not having researched our sway bar project in the scientific, mathematical realm. What we did was fabricate identical sway bars out of 5 different spring steel compounds. Then we mounted them on a jig which captured one arm and added length to the other with a rigid pipe. (About 18"...

What are the tinting options on a stock windshield?

The problem is that the plastics used continue to offgas which will create bubbles in the tint film. You can black them out with spray paint. I've done that. But this is only reasonable for a short shield that you don't need to see through.

BajaRon front shocks for F3/RT models - are there different spring rates for varying weight loads?

We prototyped various spring rates with light to medium to very heavy dual riders on a fully loaded RT pulling a trailer. We found a spring rate that works well in all cases once adjusted for weight. These shocks have adjustable spring preload and a single point, easily adjusted clicking wheel...

5 MOTORCYCLES THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN

I want to be clear that I didn't mean to get on DickB for his post. He makes a valid observation that should be considered by those interested in getting a Spyder. To be weighed appropriately with owner feedback, I think. The Spyder starts out expensive (if you buy new) and can cost a goodly...

5 MOTORCYCLES THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN

There are reasons to be soberly negative about something. But this is Christmas! A time set aside to be thankful for what we have and appreciate the blessings we've received. Life is a struggle. And admittedly, the Can-Am Spyder is less than perfect. I'm 73 and can attest to the failures of the...

What are the tinting options on a stock windshield?

You will probably find, as we did, that there is no good way to tint a clear windshield. It won't last. And that is why most tinting shops won't touch them. If you want to be able to see through it. You'll need to get one that has tint added in the production process.

Feedback on the new Forum Format?

I know you're looking for 'complaints'. But so for, I've found everything I was looking for. Maybe in different place, different name, or different format. But I really like the new site. I know it's a lot of time consuming work to make a change like this. And I've seen changes for the worse...

Anyone know if the OEM Swaybars on F3's are stiffer than RT's?

I do not understand your statement that 'It doesn't make any difference as to the steel chosen'. The function of a sway bar (torsion bar) is based on resistance to deflection. Different spring steel compounds have varying ability to resist deflection. They also have varying ability to resist...

Baldwin Ironworks Cat Delete vs Lamonster's - preferences/recommendations?

I was going to explain this but I can't improve on what Cobranut said. There are several places where output can be measured. Brake HP is measured at the crankshaft and does not represent useable HP. Every system has parasitic loss. But if you increase HP at the crankshaft, it will increase HP...

General Safety Recall - is the onus on servicing dealer to notify &/or perform the necessary work?

CopperSpyder is correct. The onus for notification is on the manufacturer. But the reality is, manufacturers put a lot of pressure on dealerships to actively participate in the process. Not so much in the blanket notification, but if a recalled unit comes into their shop, they will usually make...

2020 RTL clutch surging when cold

A full synthetic oil may reduce or eliminate your clutch engagement issues. Synthetic oil does not thicken as much in cold weather and tends to flow better in the cold at the same viscosity. A 40w high number is plenty unless you're regularly running in triple digit ambient temps. Even then, 50w...

Changed the oil & both filters, now it's got Shifting Issues! Ideas?

Your coolant is at operating temperature, but your oil will not be anywhere close unless you ride it. The combustion process at the top of the cylinder is all that is creating heat at idle. That heats the coolant, but not the oil. Riding the machine creates heat in the lower end of the engine...

Changed the oil & both filters, now it's got Shifting Issues! Ideas?

That is what we do at the shop. Do it all day long. Never had an issue. Long idle times are very hard on an engine. I've got a feeling that this issue may turn out to be something else. Or, we may never know. It may just fix itself. Interesting though.

Baldwin Ironworks Cat Delete vs Lamonster's - preferences/recommendations?

What changes is the ECU parameters are moved from an emphasis on emissions to an emphasis on efficiency and power. The factory has the engine running as lean as possible to meet government requirements, which is not good for much of anything else, including power production. Optimizing the ECU...
