• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Educate me on the reliability of the Rykers

Not to dispute the seriousness of your situation. But the fact is that you can go to any forum, Goldwing, Harley, you name it and find similar stories. Every product has it's issues. The seriousness and repetition may vary. And I think that is the question we are looking at here.

Anyone else have or know what this Front end banging/clanking noise might be?

Grease is the only thing that will wear these bushing out. They are made of Delrin which is self lubricating. But grease attracts dirt and combines to create an abrasive substance. If the bushings are tightened properly, they will not make any noise. You say you've tightened the bushing bolt as...

After owning 3, lack of dealer support is forcing me to give up on Spyders!

I never worry about breaking down. 99% of the time I'm right. The other 1% I simply call it 'An Adventure'. Over the years, I think I've probably broken down in just about every vehicle I've owned (I tend to keep them a long time). If I started worrying about it, I think I'd quit driving! I've...

Educate me on the reliability of the Rykers

The Ryker is a dependable ride. And they are easier to work on than the Spyder. The biggest maintenance item is the drive belt which BRP recommends to replace around 10k. Many get more miles than this out of it. But it depends on how the belt was broken in and how the Ryker is ridden. Putting a...

Any problem transporting a Spyder RT (2015) on Flatbed without wheel chocks.

My brother enclosed trailered 2 jet ski's to Florida. Everything locked down tight. At a good, well lit hotel parking lot. Woke up early the next morning and no trailer. They never found it. Not even sure anyone looked for it.

Maybe he was actually talking about the Kenda's and failed to make that clear! ;)

Do you use Color Correct O-rings?

Typically, color indicates material, although I'm not sure this is the case with the BRP kit. If you order enough volume, you can get Nitrile rubber (NBR) O-Rings, also known as Buna-N, in whatever color you like. It is very convenient to have color coded O-Rings. And we have looked into this...

After owning 3, lack of dealer support is forcing me to give up on Spyders!

It is a shame that many dealerships don't want to support the Spyder. But in some ways, you can't blame them. The Spyder/Ryker seems to be a bit of a step child. BRP makes dealerships jump through some pretty expensive hoops to carry them. They don't typically generate the revenue that other...

Looking at an '09 RS SM5 - are they Reliable & Easy to work for DIY repairs & maintenance? What about Electronics?

As bikes go, the Spyder is not easy to work on. But it is doable and there are mods which can make DIY maintenance much easier. The manual will be more problem free than the SE, but the SE is pretty reliable as well. As stated, BUDS is not necessary for most trouble shooting or repair. The DPS...

Don't trust USPS with your oil sample!

As you can imagine. We do a fair amount of shipping. Mostly with USPS and UPS. FedEx and DHL on occasion. You'll have issues with all of them. The simple fact is, there is no perfect system. They are all nearly impossible to deal with if something goes wrong. You'll spend a lot of time on the...

Another tire thread…but different¿ New Kenda XPS Roadster Tires - more durable...

You never have to apologize to me. It's your ride. You do what works best. But if you ever are in the area, stop in and say hello!

Canyon Sitting on the Showroom Floor!

Guilty as charged. But it looks just like the pictures BRP has published. This was the 'All Bells & Whistles' model. Some really trick things for leaving the pavement. Just not sure how much off pavement it will be able to tackle. I still don't get the belt drive. We'll see.

My '21 S2S rattles quite badly for a few seconds after ~5 months layup start - any way to spin the motor without starting?

You're right. For some reason I thought we were talking about a 998, which obviously, if a person were to read the OP's original post they might know that is not the case. If I'm only wrong once a day, I'm doing great! My wife would agree with that as well...

One year on the oil & filters, but only 900 miles - is it OK to change just the oil?

I am with ARtraveler on this one. Throwing out good oil after a year is a waste. I am not against doing this if it makes you feel better. But saving money always makes me feel good.

What Rear Tire Size is needed to correct the speedo?

It's hard to believe that there would be that much difference bike to bike. We've found the Altimax to be very true to size, tire to tire. It's a quandary for sure.

HELP! I threaded the transmission hex bolt! Will JB Weld help get it out?? What else might work?

First, I understand your pain. And the external hex head replacements are a good solution. But I have to say that done correctly, the OEM drain plugs work just fine. I'm still using my original drain plugs on my 2008 Premier Edition 998 GS. Just saying that it can be done. The key is to gently...

My '21 S2S rattles quite badly for a few seconds after ~5 months layup start - any way to spin the motor without starting?

Well then, my first reply would not apply. It may well be your cam chain tensioner. It is always good not to rev an engine at startup. Letting it idle for 30 seconds or so allows oil to reach all locations before stressing the engine. (Fixed) The 998 V-Twin Spyder does not have hydraulic...

My '21 S2S rattles quite badly for a few seconds after ~5 months layup start - any way to spin the motor without starting?

Amsoil claims that their product stays on parts much longer than most other oils. We have found this to be true. Not saying it would cure your problem. But it would be interesting to try it and see. Mikey has a good question. If you are using the BRP blended oil. It shears down to 20w at about...
