• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How likely are Gang encounters on the road?

I've been riding since 1963 and have traversed the USA a couple times. All told, ~250k miles and have never had an encounter with 'gangs' or or threats (beyond the obvious morons that sit in cages and read texts). I live in NJ and know not to travel thru certain cities.

Any helpful tips for installing a Lamonster Belt damper on a 2022 RT?

Lamonster's damper wears very well. I think they claim a life of 15k but I changed the roller after 20k with no issues. Getting to the roller takes removing all the plastic on the left side. Not difficult but can be tedious.

So many complaints about the Spyders. Anyone with no problems?

2020 RT 36,000 miles of hard riding. 1 problem - flakey brake light switch that I replaced. RT hasn't seen the dealer since purchase in '20.

Any issues with using Slingmods 12V cell phone/GPS docking station like this?

Your heated gear needs more amperage. You need to run the heat through a relay and get the power from the battery, not accessory line. Use the accessory wire to trigger the relay. Also, if you want to maintain the battery level, you need the tender to go direct to the battery. No issue running...

Is Lamonster Windshield Cleaner still available? What else won't hurt the windshield?

I've been using Plexus on all my shields and windscreens forever and never had a problem. Pricy but excellent.

Need to modify driver's seat on 2023 RTL - anyone made theirs comfortable?

I use an air cushion (Airhawk or Wildass). Works great for my long days in the saddle and costs 5 times less than a custom seat that may or may not solve your problem.

Bright Headlights Daytime Yes or No

I run the high beams AND DRLs daytime. If it was legal, I'd mount a flashing bar and siren! Nights I run high unless on-coming traffic. Face it folks. They're all out to get us!!

What should I look for in a mesh jacket? Any Pros & Cons?

Lots of good mesh jackets so like helmets, you should try before buy. Keep in mind that a mesh jacket lets the outside air blow directly onto your body. Works great while moving or until temps reach hair dryer levels and you have hot air blowing on you. IMHO stripping down is worse with the...

Anyone have an idea about why my Tail-Lights are Staying on?

Very likely the brake switch. You may also experience the nanny butting in due to the dirty contacts. Mine made & broke contact a few times thru the full stroke of the switch and randomly woke the nanny. You can test by very slowly pressing foot pedal and watching the brake lights flicker.

I’m getting frustrated with the belt vibration - any ideas to help?

Damper will likely solve the vibration, Careful monitoring of the roller should prevent belt damage. I change the roller every 15k miles because they do wear. On #3 with no issues.

What's the Accuracy of the Speedometer?

I have found over all my bikes from several brands that ALL speedos read ~5% faster than actual. The faster you go, the more the spread. When I switched to car tires, my Spyder speedo became dead-on accurate compared to GPS.

Has anybody heard any rumors on the 2025 Spyder Models? New line-up released!

You need to have a friend with a tire changer handy. The rear will be lucky to get 10k miles with the best of tires.

Are the Upper and Lower Air Deflectors worth having on a 2023 Spyder?

I've had them on my '20 RT for 3 years and ride year-round almost every weekend. I've ridden in temps from 18-102F. That said, I can't say I've felt much relief (hot or cold) from the addition of the adjustable vanes. The biggest benefit to reduce the heat is cat removal.

Those of you that Concealed Carry on your Spyder, what type of holster do you use?

How difficult is it to remove these (Bigger mystery) side panels?

To remove the large black panel: - remove gloss black panel in front of seat (pops off) - remove painted strip below seat (pops off) - remove painted panel from frunk to seat (3 bolts and 3 poppers) - (Not required but may make it easier to take off big panel) remove the small gloss panel...

Any reason NOT to buy a 2012 RT Limited?

Low mileage on a 12 y/o bike means serious due diligence. Tires, seals, O-rings, dry out, and fluids get murky. Best to avoid unless you like to do lots of work on the machine yourself.

What do you do to stop if Spyder Brake Master cylinder quits?

You could attempt to do a spin out if you have the space. Bailing out is a last resort IMHO.
