• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Will a pre-load after market rear shock replace the need for the air bag?

Sadly, both. I tried just the left panels but couldn't contort enough to get to the blind nut. As much as it sucks to do a full strip, it makes working the tail dirt easy. The hardest part is taking the right long panel off without removing the brake pedal. Hint: the higher off the ground you...

Will a pre-load after market rear shock replace the need for the air bag?

I replaced the shock last night and all is well in the universe. I'm not gonna fix the bag - pointless. As for tips, there's 2 ways to get to the top bolt on the RT. The best and easiest option is to have a lift that lets you get fully underneath to reach up to the upper bolt. Option 2 (mine)...

Will a pre-load after market rear shock replace the need for the air bag?

Yeah, I still have 6 months left on my BEST but I really, really don't trust dealers. This gave me the excuse to upgrade the rear shock to match the Elka fronts and I'm able to do the work. If something 'big' comes up, I'll force myself to visit the dealer.

Will a pre-load after market rear shock replace the need for the air bag?

I ordered the Elka from Lamonster on Monday. They shipped same day and ETA is this Friday so I should be back on the road by Saturday. Hard to beat the turn-around. Thank you Lamonster! (y)

Will a pre-load after market rear shock replace the need for the air bag?

My '20 RT Base pre-load air bag won't hold air. I'm a 'spirited' solo rider and have Elkas and BajaRon's bar up front. My options: - Replace bag with OEM bag and leaving OEM shock (40k mi) in place. or - Replace OEM shock with a pre-load and rebound shock and ignore the bag. My question is...

Is there a list of Spyderlovers vendors with contact info?

It was nice to have a Vendor spot on the old forum. Does anyone have a simple list of the dealers who made this site special?

Disability Plates - Texas only allows 1 plate per Operator! Is the Law the same in your State? What's Your Opinion?

Like my pappy used to say, "There are more horse's asses in the world than horses".

What can I do to get a straight shot at the Rear Tire valve Stem?

FWIW, Next tire change add a 2nd valve stem on the opposite side 180 degrees from the OEM valve. You have a better chance at accessing one of the stems when you stop. I find it's easier from the muffler side.

Any suggestions on running Gravel and dirt roads on a Spyder?

My 2020 RT is not happy on gravel or '2-track' dirt roads. It drags the frame on 2-tracks' and has minimum traction on loose gravel. Flat hard-packed dirt or stone is manageable. Single wheel drive is not your friend off pavement.

Anyone tried Slime in the Rear wheel? How did it work?

For the reasons stated above, I don't use any 'liquid' tire sealer. IF I was the use dynamic balancing, I would go with ceramic beads that won't leave a mess. Ideally, it's best to balance with stick-on weights.

Did you put in a stronger piston to hold up the seat?

Looking for another rider to join me on a Long distance tour, Windsor Ontario to Cape Breton to PEI to Newfoundland and back, July 2025!!!!

Ditto on finding the right partner(s) you can stand after a week or more on the road. Endurance, slab/by-ways, need for speed, sights to spend time, cuisine, and accommodations - all become known pretty quick!

Installing Garmin Zumo R1 Radar - any suggestions on where to run the wire?

FWIW, there's nothing behind the plate area but a lot of air and the tire. You can use a split grommet if you feel the need to seal the hole.

Check with BajaRon or Lamonster. They sell elka upgraded shocks.

5 MOTORCYCLES THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN

I'm handy enough to do all the maintenance tasks that many riders bring to shops. That said, every bike I've owned (Brit, Ital, Jpn) was reliable and never left me stranded. None ever saw the dealer after sale. The Spyder has been just as reliable so I don't buy "Influencers" opinions.

Ramp for rear wheel to make adding air easier

You can install a 2nd valve stem on the opposite side of the rim 180 degrees offset from OEM stem. Then when you go to put in air, you'll be able to access one of the stems without having to rotate the wheel.

What Communication devices do you use between rider/pillion & other riders in your group?

The group I ride with found the Mesh on the Cardo Edge a bit better for distance between riders than the Sena 50 Mesh. We have one guy that gets a bee in his bonnet and takes off from the group around the twisties. We can hear him giggling and hooting a half mile away - around the mountains...
