• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

I found Tourmaster 12v products to be the most reliable heated gear. https://www.revzilla.com/tour-master-heated-gear I ride year-round and had 2 pairs of gloves (hot spots) and 1 jacket (wiring) from Gerbing that went bad within 1 year of ownership. The Tourmaster gear has been good for 5+...

Planning a RT 66 trip next year

Avoid summer because of the desert and avoid winter because of the snow. That said, I've made the run from NJ as far as Grant, NM and was turned back by 2 huge snow storms heading from Grand Canyon and Cali - June 6th 2019. We woke the day before in the Rockies (Fairplay, Co) to the start of a...

Can't remember how to replace the brake reservoir pin - Help?! '22 RT

I intentionally left the tube out after the 1st change. The reservoir hasn't moved in ~30k miles.

Do Oil Filters deteriorate over time? OK to use after 2-4 years of storage?

:agree: The filter you buy on line or at a store could be just as old. I've never heard of canister filters aging out.

Venting about Tire wear and alignment...

We all ride differently and the stresses we put on the piece-parts vary widely. If a rider is happy with the equipment and doesn't push the limits, there's little reason to spend money for upgrades that have no noticeable benefits. Run what you like and respect the choices of others. There's a...

Looking for a quick release strap for a modular helmet - any ideas?

I already had the US model of the HJC C90 with D-rings that fits my noggin and my other lids all have quick release (QR). I wanted the lighter C90 Carbon model but only the EU model uses the QR. I ordered the lid from Netherlands and got the QR and saved over $100 in the process.

I put my Spyder to bed today, for A Long Winter's Sleep!

Here in NJ, I'm just setting up the RT for the Polar Bear Grand Tour season. The mantra here is, "If there's no snow, we go!".

Looking for a quick release strap for a modular helmet - any ideas?

For one, the HJC C90 modular. The USA version in Carbon Fiber comes with D rings but the Europe version has quick-release. AND the US lid is over $100 more.

Anyone removed the Rear Trunk on 2020 RTL & replaced with panel? Miss the storage?

I put the utility rack on my 20 RT Base and leave it full time. I bolted a Shad Top Case base and put the case on occasionally. I also exchange the base plate for a RotoPax Gas mount for long isolated tours (see avatar). The original painted cover sits in the shed.

Looking for a quick release strap for a modular helmet - any ideas?

There are a couple other styles but they all add at least 1 inch to the loop under your neck. I ended up buying my carbon lid with quick release from Europe because the same USA model was D-ring.

Anyone know how to add a strobe/flasher to RT Brake Lights?

The custom dynamics page referenced claims that flasher doesn't work with CanBus. I thought the Spyder was a CanBus. Are you using it on a Spyder?

How do you secure your Helmets when leaving your bike?

I'm also a 'trusting' rider that has left my lid on the seat or handlebars for years and 100+ k miles of touring. Never had anything taken or touched. Maybe just luck or the places I stop have less 'dirtbags'. I only stow the lid in the frunk if weather calls for it.

Does anyone have/carry an ICE - In Case of Emergency - Capsule?

EarPeace ear plugs come in an aluminum waterproof capsule. There's room enough to stuff a small note in. Also, many jackets have a zipper pocket by the cuff for ICE info.

Anyone installed a Sirius XM radio receiver on their RT? Any hints?

I installed an XM receiver on my '20 RT. I connected the XM's audio out to the AUX IN plug and used the 5v power from the USB plug. I ran the antenna under the tupperware to the back and glued it to the right top (opposite the RT antenna). If it rains, I cover it with a ziplock baggy.

2 wheeler sayings don't apply to Rykers - we need 3 wheeler sayings!

Everyone that rides knows there are risks. We each decide how lucky we think we are and gear up accordingly. Get-offs on 2 wheels is more likely than Spyders/Rykers BUT hitting/getting hit by cages is more common than high speed drops/slides and 3 wheels won't help against a 2 ton metal box...
