• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Random thought for the day

MySpace shouldn't even be on the list! It's not an oldie's thing at all! It was created in 2003, which is only 3 years before I retired! I'm going to say I score 21 and maybe 22 or 23. Don't remember if I ever had an AOL account or ordered from Columbia House, but I think so. The only one I...

    I installed 16 inch wheels...

That could be part of it, but I really think it is more a combination of market size, design parameters for Spyder tires, and Federal regulations over tire labeling. I've discussed this in the past here on the forum.

Spyder owners are stuck up - why is this so?? Please explain...

About 55 years ago my younger brother was going to Columbia University in New York City. At Christmas he and a fellow student ferried an old NY cab from New York to Montana to someone who bought it by mail order, or some such way. He said the farther west they got, the weaker the coffee was and...

    The caliber of my dealership

It's reassuring that in this time of untold complaints of incompetent, inconsiderate, and lazy technicians there really are some who care. I had one here yesterday. The first tech to come look at my heat pump almost 3 weeks ago was a loser. I talked to his boss who was a total opposite. He got...

At least you would be prepared if an idiot cager does a maneuver that scares the **** out of you!

Any reputable places to download OEM Service Manual?

Not too surprising. In the past we've seen inconsistencies between different years of manuals and within a specific year's manual. Documentation is not a really strong part of the BRP quality assurance program, IMO. If you get a paper copy you'll most likely see the same errors in it. It's my...

    I installed 16 inch wheels...

What's the reason for the WP Pro brakes? I thought the Brembo brakes were about as top notch brake as there is for a Spyder.

Nope. All you'll do is verify that you are in fact a real living, breathing, target for such ads. Think of it as telling them, "Bring'em on!"

Sadly, Doc Humphries' wife hit a deer and crashed several years ago. She succumbed to her injuries a few months later. Doc used to be a vendor here. One of his more popular products was the Rock Guard for the rear suspension air bag.

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

I just did a Google search for the hell of it. That sprocket is either in short supply or BRP is restricting its issuance to dealers for the recall. The only hits I came up with were some forum discussions and a couple of eBay listings. No Google hits at all for any of the Can Am parts dealers...

Do I need a new battery?????

These kind of voltmeters can serve as a load test indicator, if they respond fairly quickly to voltage changes. Just turn the throttle to full open non-start position and hit the starter. Watch the voltmeter. If it drops quickly your battery is getting weak. Do the test when you put in a new...

I told a coworker a number of years ago that we know we're getting old when the aches and pains and medical problems we talk about are the ones we used to hear our parents and aunts and uncles talk about! :dontknow:

I could see myself doing that in a parade, but on the open highway - I don't think so! :gaah:

Does any Spyder have Autonomous Braking?

Otherwise known as a collision avoidance system. I think it would be a good thing to have but sure hope it would be more temperate than the one in my 2016 Maxima.

When I was traveling around Idaho photographing historical marker signs it was sad to see how many had been shot up. Some people simply are not mature enough to be carrying guns.

added picture folder about wifes new ride

Be sure to keep in mind when you're driving on narrow mountain roads. If you meet a truck, like a logging truck, on a curve it doesn't matter which direction you're going. It's always the truck to the hill side of the road and you to the ravine side of the road as you go by each other...

How's this for Battery Life on our 2014 Spyder RTL!

The first Yuasa YTX14 battery in my Honda ATV lasted 9 years. The second one died last year after 7 years.

Looks like it's time to give up the ride - thoughts fm others who've faced this?

Listen and keep an open mind when others start suggesting that it's time to give it up. They may see driving patterns that indicate loss of reflexes or lack of awareness of surroundings or other issues. I asked a driving tester a couple of years how many seniors who really need to give up...

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

I just took another look at my gas numbers from June 1 to September 31 for both 2016 and 2017. Both summers were similar driving habits and conditions. In 2016 I rode 8171 miles and used 275.81 gallons of 91 octane. In 2017 I rode 8155 miles and used 274.92 gallons of 87 octane. So, for 2016 I...

I put my Spyder to bed today, for A Long Winter's Sleep!

The best way to counteract that aggravation is, turn the ignition off and back on immediately, take your gear off, unload the bike, get ready to go into the house, turn ignition off, and listen to the beeping for only the five seconds it takes to go inside the house! Problem solved! :2thumbs:
