• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

:agree: What I find with a Google search is, 1) less than 20% of vehicle engines require the use of premium fuel, 2) use of premium in an engine which does not require it provides no benefit, 3) nowhere has any of us found a statement from BRP that says 91 octane is required. The environment...

Will Using 87 Octane impact performance?

Refer to my post #143 above. My experience over two summers is probably as close to an objective comparison as you'll be able to find in the SL world. It shows that as far as MPG is concerned there is no practical difference between regular and premium. This makes sense when you consider that...

I've been wanting for years to organize "The Society for the Understanding, Appreciation, and Promotion, of Procrastination, but I just seem to never get around to it!"

RT Oil Change video suggests using a different sized Torx!? - was it wrong?

If it was a YouTube video see if you can find it. Add a comment letting viewers know they need to use an Allen wrench.

Spring Start-Up Fail - any ideas or experience with this?

As others have said, your battery is shot. Even a near dead battery can show 12+ volts on a voltmeter. The Spyder electronics need more than 10.5 volts to operate. If your battery doesn't have enough oomph it's voltage will drop below that when you hit the starter button and the electronics will...

Anyone Guess what this hole is for? 2021 RT...

I still can't tell where it's located, but I can tell you it's not a factory hole. See the burrs around the perimeter. It was drilled, not formed when the panel was made.

I just finished my Magic Mirror installation - will this work??

You should be OK. I just looked at mine. The washers between the magnet and bike are there to give space for the body plastic to fit under the magnet. I don't have any washers under the screw head and they've been installed for 8+ years & 40k+ miles!

Can High Wattage LED Headlights Cause Error Messages?

Since you suspect the new LEDs to be the cause of the problem, the first thing to do is remove them and put the originals back in. If problems don't reappear that is a strong indicator the LEDs are in fact the cause. Rather than the current draw being the problem I'm inclined to think the LEDs...

    2019 RTL won't shift up (fixed'ish - only now it's un-fixed again!)

I realized my mistake after I posted the above. I had in mind one of those add-on devices, and then realized the Monster was a reflash, not an add-on.

I see you list Monster EFI as a mod. Have you tried running with it not connected?

Any reputable places to download OEM Service Manual?

Best thing to do is take a page or two and info about total number of pages and get price quotes from some local print shops or office supply stores.

    2019 RTL won't shift up (fixed'ish - only now it's un-fixed again!)

That deepens the mystery. I didn't realize you already had the LH switch replaced. My next bet would be a broken or shorted wire or loose or wet connector somewhere in the harness. But then again the fact that several others have had this problem would tend to discount this possibility, except...

    2019 RTL won't shift up (fixed'ish - only now it's un-fixed again!)

Did the shop disconnect the brake flash modulator? That's one of the first things shops like to do, blame the problem on DIY electrical addons. I would say they don't know what they are talking about. There is no electrical tie-in between the shift circuit and the brake lights. I really believe...

Anyone ever back-fed their battery maintainer thru a USB port?

You mean feed the battery from the maintainer through a USB port on the Spyder. That can't be made to work at all. USB is 5 volts and the bike electrical is 12 volts. Plug your maintainer into a USB port and you'll burn up the USB adapter for sure.
