• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for Battery recommendations & sources to order from?

This does NOT agree with BRP's recommendations. The BS CAN work but its dependent on the installer doing the proper initialization. Which rarely happens.

Looking for Battery recommendations & sources to order from?

The trouble is the initialization charge is very specific. Failure to do so or not doing it at all will lead to a very short battery life. The Spyder charging system WILL NOT initialize a new battery correctly. IF its all done correctly, the BS battery is fine. But most dealers and indeed...

Looking for Battery recommendations & sources to order from?

Most of the lithium batteries you can afford have much smaller storage capacity than the AGM they are trying to replace.

Looking for Battery recommendations & sources to order from?

Yuasa YTX24HL. NOT the YTX24HL-BS. Big difference and the -BS is NOT RECOMMENDED by BRP due to charging system compatibility issues. You want the factory activated one, not the -BS bottle supplied version.

What is the Correct Yuasa battery for a 2019 RT Limited?

NO, that battery is NOT RECOMMENDED for Spyders by BRP. That is a dry ship, bottle supplied battery and unless you are very comfortable with the activation proceedure (not just filling) it will not last long in the Spyder. The Spyder charging system is NOT set up to initialize a freshly filled...

09 Spyder GS lost key - is it possible to program new keys to the Spyder?

Its been on 'back order' with a delivery beyond 90 days for well over a year. Still a valid part number, but its long since been unavailable. It could be available again someday, if enough were ordered to make it viable to sell.

09 Spyder GS lost key - is it possible to program new keys to the Spyder?

The problem is, DESS module part number 710001195 is obsolete and no longer available new from BRP. A Used one will not help. Again, a 2013 or older Spyder without a functioning key is a parts bike and cannot be repaired with currently available parts.

09 Spyder GS lost key - is it possible to program new keys to the Spyder?

You cannot add keys via BUDS on 2013 and older. You can only program new keys to the bike using a RED programming master key and at least one good key already programmed. Without a functioning key, you must replace the DESS and ignition cylinder which came as a set with new keys already...

    HowTo: Change Rear Tire

At 100k miles, I have lost count of how many rear tires I have installed. Second set of Yoko fronts.

Any Full Synthetic oils that DON'T have issues with clutch slipping? RS V-twin motor

Rotella T6 5W40 is JASO MA2 rated for wet clutch use. We have been using this in the early Spyder Vtwins for a decade now with good results.

5 MOTORCYCLES THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN

Dealing in both the BRP and Harley dealer worlds, I can tell you the grass is not greener on the other side. For the customer or the dealer. Service costs on new Harleys are roughly the same as on Spyders and they both have issues.

Where can I get a 2010 RT parking brake cable? Any other options?

Parking brake cables for 2010 through 2012 RT are the same and interchangeable.
  13. jcthorne

Can I Solder Parking Brake Cable In Place?

No, you need to adjust the parking brake mech and cable length at the rear wheel. It will not pop out when properly adjusted.

New Spyder sold with no factory warranty - is this right? What say you all?

Warranty started on the in service date, not the date you bought it. For a demo, it was the day it entered service as a demo unit.

2011 Rear Wheel Static Balance - do it with hub & sprocket fitted, or without?

No real need to machine anything. This is standard available kit from Ranger for balancing motorcycle tires.

2011 Rear Wheel Static Balance - do it with hub & sprocket fitted, or without?

We have been mounting and balancing Spyder wheels and tires for over a decade now. With the right equipment, both front and rear can be spin balanced correctly and fully assembled. No need to remove the brake rotor and on the newer rear wheels, the hub is not removable anyway.

Front Tires wearing on the inside - aligned TWICE! What's next?

While there is no camber adjustment, the camber can be checked while doing a laser alignment. Should be 0 to -2deg and even within 1 deg side to side. If its off by much, the front suspension has been damaged since it left the factory. There is no adjustment and the damage could easily be the...

What does it take to get CB and intercom on a Spyder?

BRP CB kit is no longer available or serviced. Most major manufactures have dropped support for CB and most riding clubs are following suit. Ours has completely converted from CB to Sena MESH communications.

Can I do a Tri Axis handlebar swap from a 2014 RT to a 2015 RT & vice versa?

Handlebars for 2010 thru 2019 RT are interchangeable. BUT swapping TriAxis bars from one bike to another is a LOT of labor and not much cheaper than just buying a new set of bars.

How long is the avg Spyder Spark Plug Life?

On my personal bike I decided not to change the plugs at 28k and see if performance or idle quality suffered over time. That was years ago and now the bike is at 98k and still running the OEM plugs just fine. My personal opinion on the plugs is that if the bike is ridden all the time and does...
