• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

Yes, you're both right. There are a good number of hazards associated with drafting. Getting away with it does not mean it isn't a bad idea.

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

I let myself get caught headed West to Salt Lake City out of Colorado on a lonely road with no gas stations. I knew I didn't have anywhere near enough fuel to make it. I was on my Honda 750 in the mid 70's. I had a beautiful Root Beer version. Headed back to San Diego on a trip to Kansas to see...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

I want to be clear that I do not consider myself a 'Shock Expert', because I am not. I'm just knowlegable enough to be dangerous! If I can point you in the right direction, then I feel that I've done good here. I believe that this is your shock (Pictured). It has a dampening dial (indicated)...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

I would talk to Eibach and get their professional opinion as to where you need to go from here. Glad to hear that the shock is in good condition.

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

Very good! That's an Eibach spring. They make some of the best springs in the industry. Here is what these numbers mean. Linear Main Spring - Dia. 2.25 in | Len: 6.00 in | Rate: 500 lbs/in Linear simply means it is a single rate spring. The OEM spring is progressive (weaker in the tight coils...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

That is a very short spring. Inspect the spring and it should have some numbers and manufacturer identification on it. Most quality springs have the rate, length, and diameter displayed somewhere on the spring. You don't have to stick with the length. I would be extremely tempted to go with a...

Tires rated worst and best. Two tires commonly used on Spyder's are noted

Agreed. Poor quality may well span the entire line. Though this is not necessarily true. I've never been a fan of the Kumho that we sold for the Spyder. Because there are better options out there. But some customers want the OEM sized tire and that narrows things down a great deal. Maybe on a...

Tires rated worst and best. Two tires commonly used on Spyder's are noted

While some inferences can be made from this review. Neither the Kumho or the Vredestein versions reviewed are tires that come in sizes that fit the Spyder. You always have to be aware of the apples to oranges aspect. While construction quality, and to a lesser degree tread mileage, are...

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

If you are running the OEM Kenda, it will wear in the middle regardless of tire pressure. Overpressuring any tire will give you better fuel mileage. It will tend to reduce the contact patch and stiffen the contact area. Both will reduce roll resistance which is good for fuel mileage. But as I...

2010 RT turns over, but won't start - Any thoughts before I trailer it to the dealer?

Make sure the kill switch is positioned for starting. Been there, done that. Though it's not a good sign that the fuel gauge is not responding.

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

I am so sorry to hear your story. I know the dealership had time and money invested. But how is it that they can say the squeal is gone when it is not! And how can they charge for a problem not corrected? I'm not looking for answers as the questions are rhetorical. It is not the way to build...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

#14 - Mission Valcourt, Canada. Somehow, Lamont got in tight with the engineers at BRP very early on in the Spyder experience. A typical event in his life. I was impressed, of course, but by then, not really surprised. It just seemed to be the natural progression when he got into a particular...

Need HELP?! My Spyder is running Hot at High Speeds?

With a dry sump system, your oil level would have to be very low to create an overheat situation. Your coolant does the lion's share of heat removal. This is why restricting airflow through the radiators can be so critical. Seeing as how the OP has a 1330 motor, famous for using zero oil, it is...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

Here is an example of the Zip Tie setup. This is a car shock. But the process is the same. As you can see, the bump stop can be on either the body or the mounting end. All the powersports shocks I've seen have the bumper on the mounting end. But I am not familiar with the M2 design. I agree...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

It is easy to check for bottoming out, which will tend to bend the shock mounting bolt if it is severe enough. There should be a rubber or poly bumper at the eye end of the rod. Bottoming will leave signs on that bumper. Frequent or severe bottoming can split or even remove this bumper...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Thank you, Lamont, for filling in the holes I left in these stories. Between us, I think we covered things pretty well! #13 - Boating Adventure! Lamont and I (and others), used to go to Baja quite a bit. (This is how I got my handle of BajaRon) I had a 14' aluminum boat that I carried on top of...

Newbie to Spyders - I've just bought a 2012 RS Roadster! Have I done the right thing?!

At some point you will want to be sure that your power steering (DPS) is working properly. The Spyder is a bear to turn if it is not.
