• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Potential Buyer - Time to Stay Clear of a Spyder

I doubt that Ferrari or Rolls Royce would do anything different when a VERY small number of their vehicles are involved in fires, as I'm sure there have been. If any common causal issue is identified, you can bet that BRP, Ferrari and Rolls will all do about the same thing (as would Ford and GM)...

    Nice 91 octane Ride

Although correct to some degree, this is not accurate for all cases... many advances have been made in combustion chamber physics since these 'absolute' numbers were formulated... for instance, combustion chamber geometry can be optimized to reduce pre-ignition and, therefore, octane...

    My hand hurts worse!!!!!

The Crampbuster is the biggest bang for the buck I've found for reducing right hand issues on longer rides... can't beat the price and I don't feel any pain anymore. Plus, if I'm on a winding road ride, I just take it off and toss it in the trunk or my jacket pocket.

    Dealer Recall Surging Suggestion

Thanks, Threewheel... in the performance quad arena we know not to use any higher octane level than that which is necessary to prevent pre-ignition, as higher octane ratios slightly reduce the flame front propogation velocity in the cylinder - actually reducing performance a skosh.

It wasn't designed for extended trips at 120mph? :D

is the 1" riser worth buying

I am unaware of any hardware based recalls, especially related to steering... have I missed something or is this dealer confused? BTW, my Spyder City 3" is just perfect for me, although it has no adjustability as compared to the NMN risers.

    "Do Not Ride" Recall

The dealer was simply mistaken or mis-informed. The ground wire fix is common now, most dealers know about it, but it is on backorder from BRP. It is (as said earlier) an attempt to reduce radio frequency interference (RFI) aka electrical noise from causing problems with the computer's...

How about a poll for the steering recall?

Had mine done last Thursday. Steering is a bit more definite, less 'twitchy' around center. All in all, I'm very happy with the change. Surprisingly (and i've herad this elsewhere too) my gas mileage has improved dramatically. Rode 200 miles on Sunday, 2 up, with over the max weight limit...

Why it's good to know your neighbors!

So, I pull my :spyder2: out of my garage the other day and, as I start down my street, I see the garage door of my neighbor a few doors down is open. What's in there? THIS: I don't know them very well, but I go up and talk to the gentleman in the garage. Turns out he's one of the founders...

A little heads up on the software upgrade

Had my 3k service on Thursday including the S/W update. Steering does feel a bit less 'twitchy' around center now. I also immediately noticed that that idle now stays much closer to fixed - not as much hunting around center. I'll be on a long ride Sunday and will look for the mileage...

    Still need more

I have much experience with M/C style clutches and shifting and would have preferred an SM5. However, an SE5 fell in my lap with a deal I couldn't refuse. I'd still prefer an SM5 now, but the difference is getting grayer as I ride more and more (3k miles now). THe SE5 does provide ease of...

    Riser block

I had none of these issues with same part bought 2 months ago... perhaps QA is going downhill or too many orders are taxing his ability to produce/ship the same quality as in the beginning. I'd suggest calling and talking to him about the issues. May not help you right now, but perhaps will...
