• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Steering problem, did it really happen?

MXZ, do you recall, perchance, whether the road was crowned significantly to the right or left when this occurred?

Let me just say I'm not happy either

Hang in there, Lamont. There may be good rants, there may be bad rants, there may be pro rants, there may be con rants. The important thing, Lamont, is that you have given us the place and the freedom to rant. As my dear 85 y/o father (who still goes riding with me in the desert from time to...

A Non Owners Impression after eviewing Forum

A fair analysis, based upon information gleaned from the forum... but I will continue to contend (both here and in OTHER brand forums to which I belong) that the majority of what you see in forums are problems; and basing a decision solely on forum content may be unduly biased towards the...

    Amsoil

True, unfortunately. I'd been using Rotella T Synthetic in all my machines (except for my Spyder, which has been dealer serviced to date) for many years, but now must look for something new, due to the recent change to an SM rating - indicating, I believe, addition of friction reduction...

    Steering almost got me killed!

One of my areas of technical expertise is in control systems... Following is a simple Control Systems 101 discourse so as to explain what I think may be happening here. Electric assist power steering is a classic example of a feeback control system, typically consisting of a sensor or sensors...

    4000 RPM at 55mph??

Yep, I have specifically noticed that 5000 RPM (in 5th) is 69 MPH; which equates to 55.2 MPH at 4000 RPM.

    Steering almost got me killed!

It is my understanding that, during the update process, a re-zero of the steering postion sensor and of the steering torque sensor is required. I would posit that this may not be being done properly in some cases, by some techs, so the computer thinks that either the steering is not centered, or...

You know the Spyder is cool when...

I was riding up in the mountains a few weeks back and stopped to gas up. At the station was a plethora of gorgeous cars - a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Viper, Mercedes SLK, etc. Turns out it was one of those super car tour deals where you pay a thousand dollars or so and get to drive each car...

    12,000 miles service price

Looks more like a hospital bill, LOL... charging $0.63 each for a 1/4 ounce weight? I assume it was for wheel balance? $23 for 5$ worth of antifreeze and $9.98 for brake fluid? I would assume for that amount they flushed the brake system and didn't just top it off... Yep, hospital bill. I hope...

62k miles.... now you see it and.... now you don't

62,137 miles = 100,000 km - an interesting thought! Sounds like a typical software bug when changing from metric to english when the metric is the system used and the english is just converted from it - at 100,000 km they revert to 0 and don't keep a separate register for miles, they just do...
