• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

Thought I'd check the national site to see if there was a difference. So far I'm not listed. Further down the page it states: "There may be a delay with very recently announced safety recalls for which not all VINs have been identified. VINs are added continuously so please check regularly."

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

Just checked my VIN and so far I'm in the clear. The thought occurred to me that the reason why some bikes are included and others are not may be due to BRP sourcing the pulleys from different vendors.

Do Passenger armrests lock in place for ryding?

I have a 2018 RTL. I haven't looked deeply but it seems that the armrests swing out of the way for mounting or getting off the bike. My question is when in place going down the road do they lock in place? In other words can the passenger lean against the armrest in the corners or will it just...

which way to mount aftermarket shocks?

Elka says it makes no difference. But recommend spring down so you can get to the rebound adjustment easily.

Too cold for me and my Spyder

There's a saying: No such thing as bad weather, just bad gear. That being said my cutoff is 40 now a days. A few years ago I was on my Valkyrie and coming down a mountain road. I could tell something was going on so I had already slowed down. Came around a corner and on down at the next...

Stranded by DESS Check Key - any fix besides towing?

If you have drilled the hole in your key to put it on a key ring I've noticed that other chipped keys or devices can cause a problem if they are to close together.

This handbrake, is it a dealer (BRP) option or aftermarket?

Foot brake - comments sought from taller Ryders

I guess I'm seeing it as the same problem weather a person as long legs or not. The rider must lift his leg to activate the brake. At that point it becomes difficult to modulate the brake. It doesn't seem to make much difference if it's a situation where the size of the foot is short making it...

Foot brake - comments sought from taller Ryders

I had started another thread that was really about the same issue. It dealt with trail braking into left turns. Are the 20-22 parts retrofittable to the earlier RT's? Does anyone know which parts are different?

What's the one thing you think is Useless Junk on your Spyder?

+1 on sound system. Auto leveling is just added electronics/software that do much. Two presets, manual adjust like the Goldwing is sufficient.

Trail braking while turning hard left

I do have the sway bar and I'm running Quatrac's all the way around. I absolutely agree spyder01 that these bikes are much more physically demanding to ride hard then a two wheel bike. I haven't gone on any long rides yet but I already know that if I even last a full day I will be exhausted at...

Trail braking while turning hard left

Thanks for the replies. I probably didn't explain myself very well in the first post. I've ridden many bikes for decades and started out with the MSF slow in and fast out style of riding. It's a good way to learn. However trail braking into a corner has a number of safety advantages. Most of...

Trail braking while turning hard left

As I get more comfortable with my RT I'm riding harder when I want to. I use my outside leg to push down while also using my inside knee to maintain body position. The problem I'm having is modulating the brake late into a corner while pushing down hard at the same time when going around left...

Still Riding? I think I am now done for the season...

For me 40 is about the cutoff. Used to ride down into the 20's on the wing but no more. I've never spent money on heated jackets and pants because here in NE PA once they start spraying the roads with that liquid brine/salt that's it. It just stays in the pavement until a couple of decent...

New Tires - Now brake pedal problem

I was able to take a look at things this morning. Problem solved. It appears to a combination of two things. I had the oversized Show Chrome brake pedal on the bike. This prevents the pedal from going all the way down unless you push hard enough to release the front of the floorboard. I did...
