• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Trike Order Status

Dealers are usually notified when a shipment leaves the factory, or maybe a day or two before (or after). They may have a general idea of when to expect their orders before that, but nothing definite. If you ask me, it's a heck of a way to run a railroad. You'd think that in this information...

    RT Hitch Install

There are blocks at the end of the tubular swingarm which have the belt adjusting bolts in the middle of them. If an owner has replaced these with the accessory billet items (aka farkles), then the originals should be reinstalled before installing the trailer hitch. If you have not added the...

Registering a Spyder in New Mexico?

Why does that surprise you? In Michigan there is no VIN inspection necessary except in isolated circumstances. Just like some other aspects of the motor vehicle codes, every state has a different idea about registrations and vehicle inspections.

Registering a Spyder in New Mexico?

Your owners manual should show some pics of where the numbers are located. I believe they can be seen with a lot of disassembly, but it is tricky. Most police officers in states that require it are pretty good at mirror tricks to see the darned things.

SHIFT POINTS ON MY 2012 SPYDER RTS SM5

Shift as high (or low) as you want (up to the redline or rev limiter). The 4K number is a minimum for the SE...and it is actually a bit too low. I say don't shift an SE below 4,500. The threshold for lockup on the clutch is 3,200 +/- 200 so you don't want to drop below 3,500 after the shift...

    RT Trailer light question

The 2010 trailers used the separate turn signals, but they were dropped for 2011 after numerous trailer module failures. The failures may not have been related to that function, but reliability did improve after adopting the 4-wire system. All RT-622s since have the same assembly, but only...

    2014 RT recall

Still not that easy. If you don't have an original. programmed key to insert, BUDS cannot make another without staring from scratch with all new keys and a new DESS module. Very expensive, and the key code is of no value. Having someone's key code would only allow another person to have a key...

    2008 Spyder GS Seat Removal

The GS and fist generation RS are identical machines...only the designation changed.

    Hesitation on hard right turns

Remember that I was speaking of the prototype machines. I'm sure there were plenty of engineering changes to tame things since that time. It wouldn't take much to turn this type of design into a beast. Suspension geometry, steering ratios, power steering, brake control systems, horsepower...

    Hesitation on hard right turns

You won't get any argument from me on that score, but this was BRP's decision. Given their market demographic (and their large legal department), they chose what they felt best. It is what it is, and we can learn to live with it or buy 'Busas.

How long before it is time to replace a motorcycle helmet?

You did say the magic word Ron..."testing". Some manufacturers may want to make more money by replacing helmets frequently, but for the most part they are just worried. They are flying blind because they only test new helmets, so they err on the side of safety, and recommend replacement...

Question for those with a hitch

It is good practice to keep a hitch ball well-greased. Covering it when not hitched keeps the grease clean...and keeps the yucky grease off your blue jeans.

    Hesitation on hard right turns

Unfortunately, in this litigation crazy world, a manufacturer has to cover his corporate behind. The technology doesn't exist to gauge a rider's skill or attention through the seat sensor, so they build for the average (or worse) rider under the most trying conditions. That probably goes...

    RT Hitch Install

I believe it is a clearance issue, although it could also be a strength issue. Do what they say! nojoke

How long before it is time to replace a motorcycle helmet?

Manufacturers vary on their recommendations. It is best to check with the manufacturer of your helmet. CanAm has used Scorpions, possibly among others. Some manufacturers say 3 yrs. some 5, and some more. I go by the Arai recommendation (which I wear)...5 years from date of first use or 7...

My Seat Issues ... Anyone else with same issue?

If a Russell satisfied you before, I'd consider it again. Motorcycle Dave does good work, though, and that may another good option. Seats are a crap shoot, and when the stock seat causes serious problems your best bet is a custom seat like either of these...IMO.

    Handlebar front brake....

Not enough leverage, and you leg muscles are stronger than your arm/hand muscles. Be aware that the ISCI system is not a separate brake system, it is a secondary means of engaging the existing Spyder brake system. There are limits to what you can engineer into any add-on system.

    Air Pressure Guage

Although the pressure recommended by BRP is 13 psi, the sidewall is marked 15 psi minimum. I would not go below that pressure. The 30 psi marking is usually the pressure at which the maximum rated load can be carried, but it may actually be a maximum pressure on some tires, depending on the...
