• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Extra Fuse Box

I use an Eastern Beaver 3CS. It is installed under the bodywork on my 2011 near the positive jumper post. That is near the battery on mine...you would likely move it up front on the 2013 and newer models. On Nancy's GS I actually have a fuse block mounted forward, under the access panels in...

    Windshields

Rain-X or any other product containing alcohol or ammonia (like regular Windex) will eventually cloud or craze plastic windshields or helmet faceshields. It can be worth it, but the cost is the need to replace the shield every few years. They can often be polished to gain some extra life, but...

    Tire rotation

With radial tires, routine rotation side-to-side is no longer recommended for automobiles. Automobile tires are rotated front-to-rear to even the wear caused by the drive wheels. Same thing happens on a Spyder but the rear wheel isn't interchangeable. Motorcycles, too, but those tires are...

    The Log House Project

What We Did Today Today started well.....real foggy and wet, but uneventful. We drove about 75 miles north to pick up the reclaimed barnwood vanity for our guest bathroom, and then headed for the house. It rained hard much of the morning, but the fog never lifted...weird! The painters were...

    The Log House Project

:roflblack: To us, the mowing season seems endless...usually mid-April until mid-October. Maybe less this year, as Spring is running behind. We plan to have little or no mowed lawn, mostly meadows and native prairie and woodland plants. We do like the light in the house. Pretty strong in...

    Tire rotation

Rotating the tires side to side helps even the wear and may increase the tire mileage...if the tire is showing uneven wear as a result of suspension or alignment issues. The tires are directional to allow them to pump out more water, to help prevent hydroplaning. It improves wet traction.

    2010 RT 622 trailer to 2012 RT

Easiest way is to purchase a square-4 pigtail from a trailer, RV, or tractor store and replace the round-9 on the trailer or splice the new connector into the trailer harness. The 2010 RT-622 uses separate turn signals, and you will lose this function. Your turn signals and brake lights will...

Front to Rear tire size ratio's

The Spyder compares front and rear wheel rotational speeds to know to activate the traction control. When you change the front to rear ratio you upset the programmed parameters, and Miss Nanny gets a tummy ache. Your only option is to change the tire sizes to get the ratio back to a point that...

    Oil check confusion

I'm not sure what year Spyder you have, but unless there has been a change in the manuals this last year or so, it always has called for checking at "full operating temperature" except immediately following an oil change (dumb to do that IMO, by the way). That is not just a matter of having the...

    Tire rotation

To rotate tires on a Spyder you must remove them from the rims and remount and rebalance on the opposite rims. Not worth the money or effort in my opinion. Spend your money on a proper alignment and they will wear evenly.

    The Log House Project

We are disappointed, too. Even more so that the Owner's Event isn't looking promising, either. The timing is bad and the money is low. We'll see what happens. Playing things a tiny bit at a time, we don't plan ahead more than a week or two lately. There are lots of folks that we'd like to...

    Hot feet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Spyderpops accessories should help. In addition, proper footwear (boots rather than tennis shoes) are of benefit. If the fan is running a lot, she is either riding at slow speeds or in stop-n-go traffic a lot, it is real hot there for this time of year, or her coolant is low. The fan...

    Iron Butt Run

A duffel full of clothes strapped to the seat makes a good temporary backrest. It makes fueling up less convenient, but it offers a place to rest your back...and allows you to carry more gear. Long cargo straps like the Helen-2-Wheels straps allow you to loosen the load to prop up the seat...

Throttle Body Caput - Vidal Junction, Ca.

If you still want to chase it, looking on BUDS may reveal the code history. The bad gas theory sounds plausible, although it could have also been another type of glitch.

    RS/GS Parking brake "ratchet"... why?

That's the way they work...very similar to the manual ones in your car. You push down until it is tight, not just a couple of clicks. If "tight" ends up more than 3-4 clicks, the parking brake should be adjusted. Unlike automobiles, the Spyder manual brake is not self-adjusting...it is a...

    The Log House Project

This week has been painting week. Sorry, but it doesn't lend itself to taking pictures or videos when guys are spraying varnish in a basement or painting in a small room. The painter had a crew of 2-3 guys clear-coating trim Monday and Tuesday. As you can imagine, there is a lot of it, so it...

    WHAT SIZE TORX?

Other than the new ACE1300 in the 2014 RT, and some early 2008 GS plugs, the 990 & 991 series engine and tank plugs have been hex, not torx. Check yours carefully to be sure. Use of the wrong tool will damage the plugs.
