• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I admit defeat - I now understand how dealers might charge $7-800.00 for a spark plug change!

Next time, take a short spin down to sunny Tennessee where we'll do your plugs, sonic clean your injectors, and shake your hand for less than $540.00. And almost 10% of that is sales tax!

Where is everyone getting SE5 Oil Filter and Oil these days?

Love to see you Mark. We get booked out a few weeks as the riding season gets rolling, so I'd recommend calling to reserve a spot as soon as you know when you will be coming. As for oil, 10W40 full synthetic will do you much better than the XPS blended (or any blended) oil. I'm not hating on...

Yes, it is the quatrac that is being discussed in this thread.

Anyone purchased a helmet from Europe?

Actually, the ECE cert testing is probably better than our Snell and certainly better than DOT. But well made helmets like Arai, for example, will pass any test anywhere in the world. They just don't bother paying for the test in countries where it is not the accepted cert. I would not have a...

Anyone purchased a helmet from Europe?

Many times an out of region helmet will not have any warranty coverage. Some parts can also be region specific. But since Europe is a much bigger 3/4 open helmet market than the USA, there are usually more options from that region.

Getting under the hood... of a 998 V-Twin powered Spyder??

What Peter said.... If you are going for the spark plugs, it's s good idea to service the fuel injectors while you are there. You don't want to do this twice if you don't have to.

Shifter woes have me stumped... Won't shift up - again! What's my next step?

A true, full synthetic oil (not blended or mineral oil with additives as nearly all are) is highly recommended. Use a 10/40 in your Spyder. It's a better weight than the 5/40 recommended. 5/40 is recommended because that is what BRP sells. When they had a 10/40, they recommended that. Glad it...

After hearing so much hoopla, I finally tried Buc-ee's! Never Again!

Live and let live. If you can't compete, accept defeat.

2021 Can Am Spyder F3-S - anyone know the Rear Brake Puck dimensions?

We have not found an off the shelf caliper tool that fits the Spyder. Either singly or in a set. If we knew of one, we probably would not make one. Needle nose pliers can work if the puck is not stuck or off the threads. You won't know until you get the unit off the bike.

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Like Peter said, the power is there, you just can't get to it with the stock setup. A modifier is the quick and less expensive way to go. The ECM software upgrade is a little more work and money but certainly another step above. I've not met anyone (though I'm sure you're out there) who was not...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Check into a fly-by-wire modifier. They make a huge difference in power delivery on the Spyder.

Battery Query - Does the Can-Bus system cause a battery drain?

Snowbelt has good info and filled in the large gaps I left in my reply. My only addition would be that you need to fully charge the battery with an actual charger before leaving a maintainer like the Optimate 4 to keep it up. They are not designed to bring a low battery back to full charge. I...

Battery Query - Does the Can-Bus system cause a battery drain?

The Spyder will drain your battery. Though I suspicion it is the computer. I've never taken the time to track it down because, in reality, it doesn't really matter where the drain is coming from since it is obviously designed into the vehicle. I seriously doubt there is a reasonable way to get...

FAQ's about BajaRon Sway Bar Kits

Well, there are always 2 factors at work. The machine's capabilities, and the rider's capabilities. My brother and I are both pretty good. But there are much better out there.

Need a shop recommendation to service a 10+ year old Spyder in/near South Bay, LA - any recommendations?

The 10 year old thing is such a lame policy. The truth is, most tech's do not like working on the Spyder. My guess is that to maintain their dealership, they have to work on them to a point. I suspect that the 10 year mark gives them an out with BRP. It is a shame that you can't get a dealership...

FAQ's about BajaRon Sway Bar Kits

My brother had an FJR that he loved. He was totally offended that I had purchased a 2008 GS Spyder. It surprised me because he is a very easy going guy and we always get along. '3-Wheels are for old people who can't ride a real motorcycle', he said to me. He lived in Atascadero. I rode up from...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

That is a tough one as there are many variables. Where you are located can make a big difference. Though I prefer the manual, typically, they do not demand as much money as the more popular SE model. As with any used vehicle, look at as many as you can. Even if you are not particularly...

Forever mystified by Can Am's lack of style...

The first time I experienced this I asked the owner how she ended up with a color scheme that I knew was not factory. Sometimes people have to explain things to me that are obvious to everyone else. She didn't answer me but took me to her friends Spyder saying, "Let me show you something". Both...

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

The 2010 RT is basically as sound as any year model, V-Twin RT. It just needs a little help to be a fantastic performer. There are some generic things that the 998 needs regardless of year or model. Canister-ectomy, (to prevent gas fume smell and to keep it from going up in flames) crankcase...
