• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

Which motor is better depends, like most things in life, on what you are looking for. Parts for the 998 V-Twin are not that hard to find if you know where to look. Just because they are not listed at the dealership or a parts house, does not mean you can't find them readily available, in most...

Is the General Altimax RT45 a good Replacing rear tire for a 2017 Spyder RT Ltd?

We had a customer come in complaining that he was only getting about 10k out of his Kumo rear tire. I thought that was odd and asked him what tire pressure he was running. "50 PSI" he said. "That's what it states on the side of the tire". Well, I'll give him that. But you can't always go by...

    A Day With Lamont

There is nothing in this world that I would even think of trading for our memories. Watching you almost get run over when you ran that red light on the freeway overpass with on your Honda Valkyrie really scared me. There wasn't a thing I could do about it. It was 2 controlled intersections...

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

I did not think it would be lack of oil. But thought I'd ask. You never know. Other than a failed oil pump or just a few seconds of engine running (the HCM filter should fill quickly), a backwards filter is the only thing I can think of. I am hoping that is the problem. Other possibilities could...

Is there any way to charge at more than the 2.1 amps from the USB on the Spyder?

You should be able to get up to 5A with the proper USB C setup. But will your device be able to handle that amount of input?

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

It is difficult to put the HCM filter in backwards. But it is possible. You did put 4 quarts in, run the engine, then top off to the full mark on the dipstick, right?

I agree, Jacob is the best. He has hung in there through it all. A solid guy, just like you, Lamont.

After oil refill and running, no oil in the HCM filter! Did I miss something?

Could you have put the filter in backwards? It can be done and that will give you the results you found. As long as you have not driven or shifted gears, I don't think you've hurt anything. The rubber seal goes inward, the solid cap goes to the outside.

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Very true. We might well have been just 1 trigger pull removed from disaster that day. I'll speak for myself only. But I've never claimed to be smart. However, my stupid was more acute when I was young! It amazes me that I have survived low these many years.

2014 Spyder RT Ltd missing at just above an idle - any recommendations, other than spark plugs?

If you have the time and are inclined, let us know if you find anything suspicious in your doings. If nothing else, you will get a great deal of education with this project.

Here is one way to test. I'm sure the deer didn't hear them coming... https://www.newsflare.com/video/332743/dramatic-moment-leaping-deer-knocks-down-dirt-bike-rider-during-texas-endurance-race

Do you Need better brakes coz stock discs are twisted?

Not looking to lay blame. Just very curious as to what the cause might be. Pulling a trailer does put more heat on the brakes. Surprisingly, though, we have seen very few warped brakes with those who pull trailers. You would think riding 2-up and a trailer, that would do it. I assume that these...

2014 Spyder RT Ltd missing at just above an idle - any recommendations, other than spark plugs?

We see this a fair amount. There are several things which can cause this. But most often, we find that people are lugging the engine. Coming off a low RPM V-Twin sets your ear to hate the 4,500-5,000 RPM that the Spyder is designed to run. Some will go to 6th gear at much lower RPM and then...

    Stopping a Spyder

This changeout to the Brembo components should not affect the ABS system as it monitors wheel rotation for activation. It doesn't care at all what brake components you're using. An ambitious endeavor which most are not going to be up for. But impressive, none the less. I've never felt my 08 GS...

Do you Need better brakes coz stock discs are twisted?

That's impressive that you were able to warp a set of EBC rotors. Any rotor can be warped, of course. Some just require more effort. Did you go through the bedding in process? Were you torquing in at least 2 steps to the correct value? Were you, by chance, sitting stopped, applying pressure on...

Do you Need better brakes coz stock discs are twisted?

Old thread... Current issue. Had a customer with an F3 that went through 3 OEM rotors. Warranty covered them all. (I applaud the dealership for this level of service. Many will tell you that the rotor is considered a wear component and not covered). Anyway, with the 4th warped rotor he came to...

When should you change your Spark Plugs?

You underestimate your abilities. But then, you'll be just fine even if you don't understand it. You're riding. And that's all the really matters!
