• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Quatrac 5 tire pressure

I would suspect the difference in feel is related to the construction of the tires. In short, the Kenda is a 2 ply tire built to motorcycle specs, not automotive despite using an automotive type bead seal. The car tire is usually 4 ply and built to well, automotive specs with a much stiffer...

    Cornering Nightmare - Update

I also agree with all that's been written and would second the motion that the stock Kenda tires are not up to the task either. The difference in handling between the OEM Kenda's and top notch automotive tire is both subtle and dramatic at the same time.

Can I use Motul 10w60 in my '21 RTL?

My semi education and semi literate answer is yes, but... Motul is an excellent product, but probably overkill. Too expensive and too thick at the higher number, so unless you've got a killer deal somehow I'd say there are other excellent lower cost options available within the recommended specs.

Oh that dreaded spark plug failure

Plug life is super variable. Iridium plugs in automobiles can last up to or over 100k miles, but rarely that in motorcycle type engines. I assume that's because of the higher stresses: horsepower per cubic inch, etc. For example, in BMW motorcycles they recommend changing plugs every 12k...

Valvoline™ 4-Stroke Motorcycle Full Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil

This is the oil I've been using in my Spyders for year now and it's always worked well. Years ago I did a Blackstone Lab test on it and it tested very well. I've been buying it via Walmart on line for in store delivery because it was cheaper that way. For whatever reason it's more costly in...

Any advice on removing the Front Sprocket bolt?

With all due respect. DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!!!!! You'll cause MAJOR damage to the transmission components, which can be rather delicate and fragile.

Any advice on removing the Front Sprocket bolt?

Also, apply some heat to the bolt to melt the thread locking compound used. Not a ton of it, just enough that if you spit on it, it immediately sizzles. The yellow loctite BRP uses has a relatively low melting point. It's essentially the same as the commercially sold Blue Loctite often...

    Replacing rear tire cost.

Having only replacing my own tires with car tires I can't say for sure, but it sounds too high to me too. However, the OEM Kendas at dealer retail are far higher priced than automobile tires, so given that variable, it's not completely out of line.

Good deal on rear tire replacement

I can see it. I have a 2020 RTL and I just changed the rear tire and inspected the rear brake pads. Mine has about 11k on it, mostly highway miles and the pads are more than half way done. If most of your miles are city or back country roads with lots of braking and/or two up, then the pads...

    2021 RT Limited Brake fluid

I too agree with the aforementioned advice. To me, it's clearly a warranty issue. The brake fluid should be completely clear with a slight amber color. The darker the fluid, the more it's contaminated and needs to be replaced. In a normally sealed braking system it takes decades to get that bad.

Smart Phone as GPS for Spyder?

Yes. There are several different cell phone that are known to have an especially bright screen that can be well seen in daylight. Several of those phones are older phones that can be purchased on the used market for very little money. You don't have to hook up the cell phone per se. Most...

Practical difference between '19 and '20+

The covers are completely different because of the design of the rear luggage. However, an F3 cover fits the new RT's just fine because of their similarities.

    Some Red Dust

That looks more like normal road deposits and wear than "the red dust of death" to me. I agree with the above about pulling it, inspect, and reinstall with moly paste on the spline. I too would recommend changing the retaining bolt, but I honestly don't think it's all that necessary. It's...

Oil change question - any inexpensive sockets for the oil filter?

Nope, I was referring to the oil change. Unless you're stuck with circumstances out of your control I believe in using the right tool for the right job. Channelock pliers on soft plastic in my opinion is not the right tool, but hey, if it works for you, rock on.

Oil change question - any inexpensive sockets for the oil filter?

:yikes: That would NOT be something I'd recommend. :yikes:

    New to the RT

They are completely plug n' play. I had a 2014 base model RT and added the fog lights. Same bike as the 2019. The BRP fog light kit comes with the lights and the switch. The wiring harness is already set up for plugging in the kit. Mounting the kit is a total PITA, but completely doable for...

What's possible for Heat management on an F3-S?

You can try a quick fix that worked well on the 998 editions. That being try removing a couple of the plastic splash guards from underneath the bike. They are in several pieces, so removing a small segment should help.

    Spyder and Harley Dealers

No. They are separate dealerships several doors apart in the same strip mall. The HD multi brand dealership is owned by some rich guy in LA who owns several dealerships in SoCal. (Not a knock, they're a good group of guys.) The Yamahammer/Can Am dealer is locally owned. They technically...

    Front sprocket assembly paste

I just checked my front sprocket on my 2020 RTL and it too had the white grease. It wasn't really assembly lube, it appeared to be the white lithium soap based grease. Just for the record. I reapplied some Honda Moly 60 I have from a previous project. I inspected the retention bolt and...

Why don't techs like car tires?

That's the way a dealer SHOULD work.
