• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any benefits from Elka Shocks after sway bar upgrade?

On my 2014 RT I did both. I did the Baja swaybar first and felt it needed more, then went to the Elka's. The ideal set up IMO, is the swaybar, then Elka's, combined with a good quality automotive tire up front. This will give you the best possible ride given the design limitations.

Valvoline™ 4-Stroke Motorcycle Full Synthetic 10W-40 Motor Oil

As I understand it, Rotella isn't sold as "approved" because they don't submit their oil for very expensive testing protocols to get that approval.

2024 Spyder handlebar controls - Headlight switch is missing?!

Agreed. The lever type switch on the front of the module is the normal place for the highbeam/flash switch.

Anyone had Front Wheel Bearings wear out?

I know the original question was regarding 2013 or newer, but I think my case does apply. I had an original 2008 Premier Edition. The front end was so misaligned from the factory it caused several front-end components to wear out prematurely, including a front wheel bearing.

Ugh. Another Rear Tire Sizing Concern (Sorry)

I did the same thing when I owned my 2008 GS. It worked perfectly.

2024 Models Are On the Can-Am Site

With all due respect, I don't think that's what it means. It says: "ECO mode smart assist". Without the comma, I'm taking it to means a direct reference to the ECO mode engine tune/mapping. It would be nice to have lane assist, but that would require integrating a radar module, which would...

What antifreeze can I use besides Can Am's?

Just be aware that now-a-days color can be irrelevant. Anti-freeze comes in a whole variety of colors, red, blue, orange, green, yellow, etc. You have to know whether it's a HOAT type coolant or not. Topping off with a universal application type coolant works just fine.

Rear axle doesn't/can't have a cotter pin - anyone else?

The newer Spyder don't come with a cotter pin anymore. I'm sure they just dropped it due to saving a few pennies per unit for an unnecessary and redundant part.

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

I checked the previously listed part numbers and verified they're accurate, but the problem is that I can't find anywhere you can purchase them. Plus, the Can Am parts website doesn't list it as available for purchase. So, I'm wondering if it's a dealer only part available as a recall item...

Any opinions on using Rain X on your Spyder's Windshield?

I've tried the Rain-X for plastic on visors and glasses to prevent fogging in colder weather. In short, I didn't like it. In order to get the moisture dispersing qualities, you have to leave a slight film on the surface. That slight film, since it's so close to your eye, causes blurring. It...

Are there "Run Flat" tires for Spyders?

I'm another voted against the run flats. I have a BMW X3 with Pirelli run flats and they give a terrible ride. Presumably, because the sidewalls are so stiff. Next tire change, which is rapidly approaching, they're going away. I share Ron's opinion about a Spyder being too light for them to...

What's the extra Switch on the 2020 RT Limited for?

I bought an aftermarket LED light for under $20 that fit almost perfectly with slightly better output, so I can't comment on the OEM light, but honestly it doesn't do all that much. It is a little bit better at illuminating the road at night right in front of you and a little better daytime...

At what timing/milage should I be changing spark plugs? 2011 RT

IIRC, you're coming up to a valve check interval, so you can easily do both the check and replace the plugs and wires at the same time, which I think is the manual's recommendation. On the twin cylinder engine, the spark plugs are easy to get to, unlike the ACE 1330.

Need a Seat Cushion for my 2022 RTL - any suggestions?

Another happy Air Hawk customer here. However, my wife prefers the Alaska sheepskin cover.

What Life/Mileage can I expect from a 2016 RT engine?

Just for a data point. I traded in my old 2014 RT on a 2020 RTL and when I did, it had about 65k miles on it. Never any issues and it still ran like it did new. Now I've got about 20k on my 2020 and it runs great. (Like I expected it would.)

998cc My current ride is a 2011 RT - is the 1330 that much better?

I'm in your general vicinity, so I know what you mean about not having many resources around. Central Coast Yamaha in Santa Maria is a Spyder dealer. They are so-so at best for purchase and NEVER go there for servicing. The sales manager, Jethro, will let you take a short test ride if they...

Did you keep your bike stock ??

On my 2008 GS, no. On my 2014RT, no. On my 2020 RTL, yes. Other than minor modifications, it just plan works for me as is.
