• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2012 Spyder RTS - New owner with some questions?!

I'll add to the good advice to say to watch out for engine heat build up. That issue plagued the 998 line up to varying degrees (pun intended) with different bikes and different models without any real consistency. Your husband can remove the charcoal emissions canister (there's a whole thread...

    Fans running a lot??

It sounds to me like the old fashioned thermostat is stuck being the mostly likely culprit. :dontknow:

BRP Connect - Sygic GPS starts but then says "App not available"

I know you didn't ask me, but for the sake of the discussion I'll give my .0000002 anyway. I've tried Genius, Rever (before it broke) and Sygic. I think by far and away, Sygic is the best. It's far from perfect and not nearly in the same category as Google or Apple Maps, but for a phone app...

Handlebar mounts for cup and phone......

Yes. You can move the wires. And, yes, you can use the handlebar mounts for mounting accessories. I believe Lamonster Garage sells a bolt kit for that very purpose. Sorry, I don't have any input about a cup holder. I made my own using the SlingMods cup holder as my reference.

Communication in Extremely Rural Areas With NO Cell Phone Signal

Agreed. This is the most common way of doing it in the adventure riding community. There are several brands with differing features that can be purchased for minimal cost compared to a sat phone.

    Hesitation from stop

I had a typo in my reply and meant to say that mine will do it when it's cold and NOT up to operating temperature. My 14 was worse than my 2020, and the 14 had a slight stumble off of idle if you wacked the throttle too hard. I had the shop look at it at the time under warranty and they found...

BRP Connect - Sygic GPS starts but then says "App not available"

Two things come to mind. For me, it seems to work when you start the app first and then plug your phone in and start the pairing process. Secondly, the connector cable seems to be sensitive. With me, I have several go quality USB to Apple cables that work and several that do not. It seems to...

    Hesitation from stop

It'll do it if it's not fully warmed up to normal operating temperatures.

    Low Battery?

Not all battery tenders are created equal. Some of the el cheapo battery tenders don't work well or even worse can drain the battery. That happened to me years ago. The battery tender worked for several years and then over the course of a winter didn't work and actually drained the battery...

    New Spyder Owner Belt Life

What they said. I will add this: if the hole in the middle of the belt and its really small, you're okay. If the hole is on the edge, then you probably can keep an eye on it and start saving/thinking about a replacement down the road. I wouldn't worry about bumps caused by rocks that don't...

    Shocks OR Swaybar

I'll sort of swim against the current here. I say shocks. The sway bar won't prevent front end dive to the degree that proper spring rates on the shocks will do. Sway bars are kind of icing on the cake, but the cake is proper spring rates combined with proper shock settings (compression and...

    To gurus and mentors.

Yep. Done that stretch many many times and I know what you mean. On the grades it slows considerably, but on the flats I've had my doors blown off by triples doing a 100 mph. I try to keep to the posted limit, but I don't like getting passed constantly so I will up my speeds to the mid 80mph...

What's possible for Heat management on an F3-S?

Don't be confused about the search results. Most of the old heat problem threads were related to the older versions of the bike using the old 998 motor and not the 1330 ACE used on all current Spyders. There are some minor complaints about the current editions, but not like before where they...

Shout Out to Mark Lawrence and Calsci

I love my CalSci on my BMW R1200RT, however, be aware they are rather soft and do seem to scratch easily. I'm assuming it's the clear coat used that's soft.
