• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

Well, I should have kept my mouth shut!! Went for short ride today and about 20 miles into it, the screen went blank!! :cautious: I was sure hoping that was taken care of!!!

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

Thought I would follow up on where I am with the display going blank. It has not happened for the last 1,000 miles. What I did: I disabled Apple CarPlay on my phone and use the data blocker to keep the Spyder computer from trying to get me to turn it on anyway. That’s it? 🤷‍♂️

Learning to ride this bike: my progress so far

That huge wave of panic sounds very familiar. Early on it happened to me several times for various reasons. That muscle memory got me into trouble a few times. On the way home, I had gotten into my home town and was working my way through some stop signs. Thankfully, I had chosen back streets...

Learning to ride this bike: my progress so far

I had already figured some curves by their design might be handled in a different way. Thanks for giving something else to try and work on. BTW: as I ride the Spyder I use a spot tracker to keep up with where I’ve been, so I will post the link below. As you can see, I have not gotten into...

Hope I'm not done riding my Spyder for the year?!

I live in the Arkansas River Valley between the Ozark and the Ouachita Mountains. Most of the time I can ride year round with the occasional 2-3 week cold spell where temps struggle to get into the 40s. But with good gloves and a heated jacket liner even that can be dealt with pretty easy.

Learning to ride this bike: my progress so far

Thanks, I’ve run across several threads regarding upgrades to improve the handling for the bike. But figured I really need to get where I can handle it pretty well in its present configuration before looking seriously in that direction. I have always enjoyed running through the curves at a...

Learning to ride this bike: my progress so far

I made the purchase of a new 2024 RT Limited this summer. With 1,600 miles on it now, I feel like I’m just beginning to get the hang of riding this thing! There is still a lot for me to learn, especially when going through curves. The most important thing, I’m having fun again!! My big enemy...

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

Where I am with this: The battery is a YUSA High Performance with 350 (CCA) Regarding the volts: When I turn on the key I see 12.2 up to 12.7. Running down the road at speed it shows 14.4 and will drop to 14.2 when I slow down. It will drop slightly below 12 while cranking. About 20 minutes...

Kenda tires - I truly don't understand the hateful responses to Kenda tires. I have over 22,000 km on mine and they're only 50% worn.

I think you hit a home run with that comment! The mountain roads in Arkansas have a lot of chip and seal, that will eat your tires up in no time. 👍

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

No they have not, and I do plan to let it rip, I just want to make sure I’m in total control when I do. 😎

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

I did that, and it tested fine but was told it needed a full charge, e.g. the battery tender👍

2024 RT limited and I’m experiencing the main display going blank

The bike currently has 600+ miles. While riding the display will suddenly go blank. Usually it will come back on after I turn off the key and let it sit for a minute then restart. This has happened almost a half dozen times since I bought the bike in mid July. When riding with the display blank...

    1st Week on a Spyder

Same here, it is in my signature. I’m almost 450 miles into this experience, and learning more every time I ride. At 73 it is not as easy to pick up a new experience, but it sure gives me reasons to get out and keep going!

Just wanted to share the unbridled joy and ease of riding the Spyder!

Funny you say SMOOTH!! On two wheels that was always my thing. Hated hitting brakes, I always wanted to control everything with the throttle and keep everything smooth!! It is very evident that will take me a while. I’m still pretty smooth, but with it I’m very slow. Getting some speed will take...

Just wanted to share the unbridled joy and ease of riding the Spyder!

I’m still learning to ride the Spyder. With 400+ miles into this experience, I know there is a long way to go before I can get back to the joy of riding that I experienced on two wheels. Living in Arkansas at the edge of the Ozarks a big piece of this experience is learning to handle the curves...

Just wanted to share a riding story - hitting a swarm of yellow jackets!

Thanks for the contributions, I enjoyed reading those! I’ll post one more experience for y’all to enjoy 😉 It certainly wasn’t fun at the time. I was riding in the Ozarks of Arkansas coming down highway 21 which has sections with lots of curves. Those keep you pretty busy and makes it next to...

Just wanted to share a riding story - hitting a swarm of yellow jackets!

In another thread @Knizar mentioned how honey bees can be a problem for our paint jobs on the Spyder. That brought back an old memory that I just have to share. I was on a cross country trip with a buddy who was riding about a quarter of a mile in front. We were on a two lane highway in wide...

RT Rear Trunk looks likely to wear where I press it to close it - is there anything to stop that?

Thanks for the good suggestions, I thought this might be a common enough issue that somebody would address it with an accessory of some type instead of us having to get creative and come up with something ourselves. 🤷‍♂️

RT Rear Trunk looks likely to wear where I press it to close it - is there anything to stop that?

After getting in and out of my trunk a few times, it looks like over time that I could wear the finish where I have to press down to lock the lid? Would there be anything available that I could attach to the top of that lid just above the lock?

Just had an Internet learning experience!

The hotspot from the phone is pretty much a necessity on those cross country trips! While I didn’t need it often, it was very helpful at times. Like others said watch your data use. I never had a problem with that, but it doesn’t take a lot to check the weather, look at routing changes, etc..
