• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Calif. Insurance

I'm with Geico here in FL and for three spyders and a GL1800 it is less than 400 a year. I've been with them for more than 30 years on the motorcycles. Never a claim and only two tickets and that was back in the early 80's. Ken krb1945

We have the Madstad on our machines and yes, it is a bit tedious to adjust. Once it is adjusted we leave 'em alone. Ken krb1945

Desert Spyder I just watched the video on the link you posted... it got the best of me. These events make me real sad. And when I think about all the people just like me, Lamont and many others on this site that have family members over there it is almost unbearable. Ken

    Fuel In Tank "Boiling"

If you are smelling gas after riding... make sure the evap purge tube is extended back to the rear wheel area. As to the gas boiling in the tank... make sure they installed the heat protective pad on the front of the tank. Ken krb1945

    Oil change on an se5?

The wise rider changes both filters every time. I change all our filters at every oil change. New filters help prevent down time. Ken krb1945

    Y gaskets question?

The factory gaskets have a tendency to crumble, flake or what every you want to call... and once they start to crumble they blow out pretty quick until you have nothing left. One way to prevent some of this is to keep the clamps tight. Tighten them at every oil change. Ken krb1945

drain plug stripped out, anyone have a better replacment

First BajaRon nice job on that substitute drain plug. Most of the new vehicles have a drain plug that you can put a socket of box end wrench on. They all have a metal gasket machined surface because now-a-days everyone uses a copper or aluminum seal gasket. Take your stripped out hex head...

What the hell did they do to my Spyder

If your talking about filing a complaint with the FL AG Bill McCullum don't waste your time. He lets companies like this one, direct tv and others police themselves when they have customer compliants. I have first hand knowledge of this. To put it bluntly the FL AG wants the fox to guard the hen...

What the hell did they do to my Spyder

Yep, you need a minimum of 5 million dollars if you want to start a decent shop and sales... If you try to start it with just a Million you will not survive in todays economy. You not only want Spyders but you also want Honda and possibly one other make. Then you can get the parts to meld...

What the hell did they do to my Spyder

The chip(s) in the cluster that store the data maybe movable just like IC chips or processor chips. Has anyone checked a failed system to see if it has Rom and Ram chips that can be unplugged? Ken krb1945

    100 watt headlight bulb

Heat increase will be dramatic... a friend of mine changed his dual 55/55 h4's to dual 80/100's and melted both headlight sockets and the reflector area in his GL1500. I will tell you this before the fixture melted he could blind you at a 100 yards on a bright sunny day in Virginia. You may...

What the hell did they do to my Spyder

If they didn't break the pin off or didn't short it out it I might be able to salvage it for you. It will take a little time and patience and you would need to leave it overnight so I can work on it in the cool of the morning. I have salvaged bent pins on computer boards in the past...

    Bad Spark Plug Boot

Something I've been doing for years is put a light coating of di-electric grease on the spark plug stems to keep the boots from sticking to the porcelain. If the boot is stuck to the porcelain many have a tendency to pull on them with pliers or a slip while pulling on the boot and pull on the...

    I was thinking....

Although I ride two wheels too... I really like the fact that I don't have to put my foot down when stopped. Now if they will just allow the rider to have control of the machine and not the "nanny" it will be a near perfect machine and when they put a boxer 6 in it they will have achieved...

    500cc Spyder

If your spyder is indeed eating the Y gaskets I would suspect the clamps are loosening up. I check the torque on these clamps everytime I change the oil and filters. I find they are always a little loose. Probably the heating and cooling effect. See if you can find a "wider" version of the same...

Took a little trip the other day...

Beautiful scenery, good food, lots of sunshine and heat I want everyone to know that "she who must be obeyed" yelled "uncle" first. I think most of our problem was ... mother wanted to take the Jack Russel and no matter where we stayed you weren't supposed to leave pets in the rooms. That's...

Took a little trip the other day...

just a 2072 mile "slow roast"... did I mention it was hotter than Hades in upstate NY near Sodus Point? On the days it was 98 to 100 there it was only 95 in Florida where I live. Beautiful country :2thumbs:up where the grapes, cherries and apples grow. Planning on doing it again next year but...
