• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Relay Problem

I had a problem with relays that were only 6 months old. Getting limp mode most of the time... many times after shutting down to eat or refuel her SE5, which is also an 09, would not engage the starter. I replaced all the relays with masterpro from the local auto parts. Problems went away. Part...

Fuel Filter - Replace at 5 years or 30,000km (19,000 miles)

Fuel filter search A few days ago I contacted a major fuel filter supplier concerning the Spyder fuel filter. This supplier did a search of many of the manufacturers and this is their reply... Hi Ken, I tried all the sites that I know for a cross reference for the BRP Part number...

    Oil Smell

At least you have some "free" tools to use to complete the job they were supposed to do. Sometimes mechanics are in too much of a hurry... that's why we find nice snap-on and craftsman tools along the roadways. On the hot oil smell the possibilities are almost endless. In addition to the items...

Turn Signal / Brake Light - LEDs installed (w/pix)

question It looks like you are using the LedLight.com 48 Led bulbs on the rear... are you using the red leds or white leds? The reason I ask is in the photos they appear to be white. I use these LEDs on the Spyders and my GL1800. One problem with the GL1800 though... I cannot run the LED in...

    New battery heading my way

You may have a loose connection on the battery. A loose connection will prevent the battery from getting a full charge. Ride 'em safely! Ken krb1945

    2008 Spyder SM5 Question

I have two of the 08 SM5's and have experienced no problems after the software updates and recalls. I did the oil cooler ground and evap vent hose extension myself. I have replaced most of the hose clamps because the factory Oetiker clamps have a tendency to leak. I iinstalled a thin piece...

    Spyder from hell

wyliec is... correct this spyder definitely needs to be at BRP Wisconsin test facility. I'm hoping BRP and Carlo will send a truck for it even if it has to sit in their shop until the weather warms up. Ken krb1945

    Spyder from hell

Bob sorry to hear about all your electric / electronic problems. I'm glad that we all have this forum to vent on. Now having read your post... and although I am no expert on anything... I have had success many times fixing things the mechanics weren't able to find. From your post we know...

what kind of engine would you like ?

A boxer 6 with 1500cc would be nice. Make it M1A2 battle tank grade for durability and take some of the nanny controls away. The Nanny should not be shutting you down because of a blown blub. It could flash a warning led on the instrument cluster. Ken krb1945

    Thanks Carlo

Frank3 sorry to hear you missed so much riding this year. It is real upsetting when you have to cancel plans due to mechanical. Hopefully you will get some of the problems ironed out in the next few days. Last week we got a new DPS on the 09 SE5 and it is now a great machine to drive. We were...

    Drive Belt alignment issue

Is it possible... that I might be loosening the axle nut too loose before the adjustment :chat: ? I loosen it all the way to the end of the threads before turning the right adjuster clockwise to get the belt off the inner flange. That is the way I did the other two spyders and it only took a...

    Drive Belt alignment issue

I've been tightening the nut by putting my torque wrench handle behind the spyder and pulling up. If I am understanding some of the above post... tightening it this way is making the right the right side move back a wee bit? I'm going to try it again this afternoon. I'm sure glad the other two...

    Drive Belt alignment issue

Mike... thanks for the tips. I've adjusted the other two and total time took less than 2 hours. The third one has been a bear and after a total time of 3 hours spent it still isn't correct. Ken krb1945.

    Drive Belt alignment issue

After trying to align the belt on one of my SM5's three times I need some guidance on correcting an overly sensitive adjustment that goes from one extreme to another in less than 1/4th of a turn on the adjuster :dontknow:. Drive belt on 08 SM5 goes from pressed tight against the inner flange...

    DPS Installed

New DPS is... great:2thumbs:. Rode it 80 miles back to the house and it is like riding a different machine. Tested it on all types of road conditions and speeds up to 105. Let it be known here and now that I don't usually drive that slow... I mean fast. Anyway the new DPS is stable and doesn't...

    DPS Installed

I'm hoping the new unit will be vastly improved. Now only two more to go... both SM5's. Have a great day and...
